I understand the course irrigation system is now being monitored by computer.
Great idea and I am glad to to see this improvement to the course not only will it conserve the water consumption but make the entire course very playable, The new carts are also great!

We noticed the greens ( Lakes) are showing spots that the grass is either black or gone, This is not good especially on Hole # 9 the green is about 20% gone I hope this is put under control and great greens will be once again on all 18 holes

once again your carts stink, torn seats bad batteries bald tires if you are looking for a cart to use for junk you will find about 100 of them at Olivas, We were 20 miniutes late getting off from the 1st tee. It took us 5+ hours to play 18 holes sad your mens club is so slow that makes us suffer in the afternoon,

We always enjoy your course and most of the time the course is in great shape.We saw the native portions of the course was very long and many balls were lost.
I would suggest this area to be mowed down which would improve the pace of play . Secondly, the carts are getting to old and are need or replacement, every cart in the line had torn seats, our cart happen to have a bald tire too. As usual our cart died on the 16th hole. The course collects a lot of money for the cart fees everyday
and should be in good working order. What is the money going for if not replacement carts ?????
At a rate of $32 per cart., the carts should be replaced on a regular bases. These carts should have been replaced 2 or 3 years ago. I hope in the near future there will be new carts at your course.. It ruins the entire day when the carts die almost every time we play your course

All of the carts need batteries and seats,
only 1 of our carts made it for the 18 holes again
It seems every time I play Olivas at least one cart has battery failure. The course is getting a lot of $$ for the carts and they should be able to make for 18 holes and have seats that are not torn Sad !!!!
Carts rattle and shake pull one way or the other
I feel the course should compensate us for using the junk carts. period. We would play more often if the carts were better.

All of seats on the carts are torn and are in need of repair
Most all of the windshields are broken and need to be replaced, New carts should be on this course.
We pay a premimum each and every time we play
so why can't the carts be replaced for new ones with lithium batteries ??????

The carts age getting older and older each month.
The batteries life is getting shorter and shorter each month. :Almost all of the seats are torn and missing
stuffing. This really takes away from the quality of the golf course.. We a premium for each person to ride and sitting a those carts are not good, not good for the course and certainly not good for the golfers. I noted 4 golf carts being towed in during my 4 hour round.
That sucks! Either get some new carts or charge us less money for the junk carts

The carts are old and worn out. The seats have large holes in them , My cart the parking brake wouldn't work
The course had a lot of really wet spots, my shoes were covered in mud after the round. I think there is a broken water line on #12 tee box, the sod was more like a swap

The greens were bumpy and need to be rolled ,
The sand traps were not sand traps they were concrete mixed with gravel, On a scale 1-10 I would rate them a cool 1. really bad for a course to allow them to get to be that bad., the sand wedge would not break the crust of the concrete. I dug in to 1 trap and it was about 3/4 " with some sort of gravel.. Not a happy camper with the shape of the course as it is presently, Buena Ventura and Olivas are 10x better shape than RiverRidge

The greens were really bumpy, They had been punched on March 22nd, unfortunately they had not been rolled or re-sanded in my opinion. I totally understand the necessity of the aerification but I thought after a week they would have been in better shape. . I hope Buena will consider putting a players assistant on as I feel it would speed up play, We played behind 9 guys that were pretty old and it took forever to play the front 9 holes and they had a 5-some too. really poor !!!! I think there was atleast 2 holes open in front of them after 8 holes.

Sand traps don't have very much sand in them on any of the holes. Anny the sand is not soft, They need to spend the $$ and remove all of the old stuff and install new drains, ,matts etc then install new sand that is soft, Wedges are made with the bounce to cut thru then sand and those traps are more like hitting out of concrete, It tough to gage any sort of distance as you can't get a club under the ball

Sterling is a very nice course for the layout and design
however Sterling still lacks in the sand traps quality.
The traps are very inconstant some have too much sand and others have but very little, The fairways are still very hard which makes for a lot of tight lies. Probably a little more fertilizer and water would correct that situation.My opinion on the traps would be to remove all of the existing sand, install new drains and import some good white sand so the wedges can utilize its bounce. The staff members are all professionals and curtious which makes Sterling a great couse !!!

We enjoyed the round today, Fairway conditions were the best I have seen for a long time. The putting surfaces were true and the ball stayed on line. We had stopped at the turn and had a great cheeseburger. The staff were friendly and the food was prepared as we had ordered.
The Restrooms are the area which needs the TLC basically they show be redone, remodeled or something to clean them up, bad condition and not clean . So I hope this review will get to the person that can make our golfing experience even better the next time

I remember playing this course many years ago when it first opened and I felt like I was playing on a country club. The course has improved so much over the passed year I can't believe it. There are some fairways the grass is a little thin, but there are signs of aggressive maintenance all over the fairways. The course is on its way to the country club status and it seems there are a lot of people taking pride and effort to improve this course to be one of the top courses in Ventura County if not the top course !
The entire staff is always very friendly, and that is from the cart boys to the GM. Oh by the way they have all new carts too Great place to play !!!

Sterling Hills has made a 100% improvement over the last few months, new owners have taken and improved almost every aspect of the course except for the sand traps, very inconsistent, some are crusty hard and others are deep soft sand. The fairways and greens are in great shape. More improvements being made on several of the holes. But all good stuff. Looking forward to play the course when all of the management and care has materialized

Los Robles has gone thru some administration changes and not good for the golfers. The powers to be have elected not to have Marshalls, I understand only on weekends," bad choice" We had played in back of a foursome that thought every shot should take about 10 minutes for all for players. So we had a 5 hour round. yes on Thursday afternoon. At 1 point they were 21/2 holes behind of the group in front of them.
We have already decided the weekend rounds are too long and too expensive for us with a minimum of 5 hours up to 5 1/2 hours for the round that is just too long. I hope the powers to be read this letter and get some of the 10 marshals which were laid off back on the course and increase the pace of play and make the golfing population happy again
Los Robles continues to increase the green fees and slow play, There are too many other courses in the immediate area which take a lot less time to play and the green fees are pushing the $80 mark on the weekends. Residents are getting a little discount but
most of the time Golf Now has a better $$ Sorry Los Robles I hope you get your act together. They staff is great and the course is OK but management has to take care of the pace of play not only on the weekends but thru the week too

Well if you haven't played Sterling for while, you should try it again. Since the new owners have taken over the course has improved immensely, still not perfect but it has improved over the last 6 months. The biggest fault in the course is the sand traps. Yes I know it has rained lately , but there is no sand in the traps more like ground up concrete. I hope the new ownership will take some advise and rip all of this material out of the traps and install drains and new sand. There was still standing water in several places on the fairways but was not in play .I am glad to see the course improving

I want to advise everyone who wants to play Olivas links and wishes to use a cart, I would seriously consider playing another course. Here is the reason. The carts are old and the batteries are shot and I mean shot.
I went thru 2 carts before the 17th hole. The first cart lasted until the 10th green and died, then 5 holes later the 2nd cart died. The City of Ventura now has extended the Leases on them will not get new carts for another year or so. I would hate to guess how long it will be before the batteries will be changed out.
It is a shame and it not the way a golf course should be run. Almost everyone I have spoken with has had the similar situation, even the employees stated their carts have died too. The sad part of this is, the cart guys have to continuously change out the carts. Not good I sincerely hope this message gets to Eric Burton's attention and take aggressive action to correct this massive problem. We will not play there until this problem has been corrected. This will cost the City of Ventura $$$$ if the local golfers stop playing the course. Don't get me wrong I love the course and the layout but when you have to push a cart from the green to the next tee that is not a good example of a great golf course
