Boone Creek Golf Club - Creekside Course
Played On 05/05/2019Expect a fun, friendly day out
Played on a beautiful morning after a week of rain. But the course was not soaked like other area courses. It drains well and only had a bit of standing water on one hole but not a large area. The staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. They went out of their way to pair up my twosome but there was no one else around at the time so let us go out right away. The greens are in great shape, smooth rolling and just quick enough. You can make some putts. With 3 nines there is availability to play 9 or 18. It is a bit far for me to play regularly but will make the trip when we feel like playing again.
Timber Ridge Golf Club
Played On 07/06/2017Enjoyable Course
Many area courses can be a bit tight but Timber Ridge plays like a full size course with ample fairways and rough. You'd really have to spray one to lose it in the woods. Good length and very good course conditions. Halfway house (you pass it twice) for snacks or drinks. One of the better area courses in my opinion.
Wolf Run Golf Club
Played On 08/24/2014Enjoyable Track
Paired up with the nicest people/members. This really helped as local knowledge is very important on this course. But it was the priciest course I played (of 6) and would play again but need a better discount.
LakeRidge Golf Course
Played On 08/23/2014Great course, Slow Play
Course was way overbooked. Pace of play was 5 1/2 hours which is crazy. Now there was a 16 man outing in front of us playing two-man best ball but 5 1/2 hrs is too long. It was dark by the time we finished. The staff, from the cashier to the starter to the rangers were excellent and friendly and apologized for the wait. I love the layout so will play again but maybe early in the day is better.
Tanglewood Club
Played On 8/5/2013Pleasantly surprised
I had not played here before. It was a last minute choice. Driving by a few holes on the way in I thought it looked like it was short on real estate but once I started playing it I found I was wrong and there is plenty of room for a golf course. There are striking elevation changes and the layout takes advantage of the natural surroundings. There are a few holes where a little local knowledge will go a long way in avoiding an unseen creek or dog leg. A great value.
Cary Country Club
Played On 6/30/2013Short but not a pushover
Short but very scenic, Cary CC is a fun course that tests your accuracy skills. There are plenty of holes with wide open landing areas but there are some where you really should think before you rip it. Elevation changes abound so select the right club if you want to get it close. You can score if you keep it in play but trouble lurks nearby if you lose your focus.
