Good bang for the buck

Its not the cheapest course in the area, but through available on line tee times I feel the cost is fair.
It's a decent mix golf course design where just when it seems a bit too much like playing with homes around there'll be a nice stretch where you feel like you're on a fairly nicely isolated course with margins of Florida Wild.
I can't say I love the greens as IMO they are fairly slow, but they're not ridiculously so, and a well struck putt will generally roll and break predictably.
All in all a solid, challenging course with some forced carries and decent, ""real" length holes.
Daytona North is a legit competitor course with good greens (or at least they did a few years ago) but rougher fairways and not as interesting.
New Smyrna Municipal is quite reasonable (but greens fees are going up I hear). It has faster greens, but has has a very unpolished feel and is a heavily used course with scant topology to speak of.
With the (more expensive, once top notch) LPGA Hills course now decimated by housing development and sporting neglected greens, I'll definitely be back to Venitian Bay.

Best Course In The Area

Priced fairly, if you use an on-line tee time service.
This course it the antidote to Florida courses that feel like you're playing through a neighborhood. Plenty long from the whites, unless you can consistently drive 250, AND keep it in play. While not overly hilly, Topology is beautifully varied and interesting for a Florida course. Bunkers, fairways and greens are all at least very good, and more often exceptional. THIS COURSE IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART, OR THOSE INTIMIDATED BY CARRYS. That said, the forward tees avoid the most dastardly carrys. While some may not, I personally consider it quite difficult: Many self-proclaimed sub 10 handicapper's will not break 100 first time playing there (by the rules). I love it, consider it my premiere "challenge" course on the East Coast of Florida, and like to return often to test my game, and myself. Carts are top notch electric, and practice facilities are also first rate.
