Riviera Country Club
Played On 11/14/2018NIce course; great price
We played on a Wednesday; arrived at the course around 8:20 am. There were very few people other than the ladies 9-hole league and we were positioned immediately following them. Being a 2-some, we had to wait between shots on front nine. Back nine was going along quickly until a single appeared in front of us on #16 and because he was playing 2-3 balls per shot play quickly came to a crawl. The staff is friendly. No tee times so be prepared to wait if you arrive during a busy time. The course is well manicured and the greens were great.. It is apparent that the owners take great pride in maintaining excellent course conditions.
Arizona National Golf Club
Played On 03/01/2018Only for those that want a challenge
This is a very difficult course for first time players. There are lots of blind shots and lots of long carry over desert(for men; the ladies get a nice break on most holes). The tee areas were imperfect, bunkers were not well maintained, and the greens were average. The fairways were very nice so stay on them! The staff seemed unconcerned about welcoming us (We played 2 other courses the same week and were greeted and treated exceptionally.) The 18th hole is the gem of this course; very beautiful, but the rest of the course does not warrant a visit just to see the 18th. We stopped in the clubhouses after the round, but left due to a sewer like smell. Could not eat in that atmosphere.
Ventana Canyon - Canyon Course
Played On 02/27/2018Too slow
Our first obstacle was finding the pro shop. There are no signs or bag drop. The pro shop is behind a restaurant so some signage would help. The ride from the club house to the starter takes at least 10 minutes (I'm being generous here; I'm sure it took longer). The round started on time, and we rarely saw another group, BUT on a particularly difficult and intimidating par 3 the whole course backed up. There were 3 groups including ourselves on the tee. We waited on every shot from that point on. The round was easily 5+ hours. To add to the amount of time waiting for the group in front of us, the amount of time needed to navigate from hole to hole easily is at least 2 minutes per hole. That adds 30 minutes to the round. It is a beautiful course, but we would not go again.
Sewailo Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2018Don't miss this course
We loved this course. It is beautiful, and challenging. We were paired with two gentlemen who couldn't be nicer and had played the course before so we got some tips for ball placement. The staff is soooo nice. They were running behind due to morning frost, but kept putting out foursomes as quickly as possible. I can't say enough about the beauty and condition of the course. From tee box to greens, simply perfect. We played Ventana Canyon and Arizona National during this visit, and Sewailo was definitely our favorite.
