Hapuna Golf Course
Played On 01/21/2023Hapuna Is Struggling
I've always liked Hapuna but this recent visit was surprising. Course conditions are not very good...some fairways were more weeds than grass. Overall the course was very shabby, except for the greens which thankfully were in great shape. There is no way I would pay full price to play here anymore. It might have been a coincidence but the players I were seeing this day were not avid golfers and some of them I talked with, (because we had severe slow play), didn't seem to mind the shabby conditions or the slow play...they were just there for their resort round of golf and to kill some time. The marshal came around and apologized for the extremely slow play but he did nothing to alleviate it. We had three groups on every single tee box...lots of socializing. I would like to see Hapuna invest in the course and let it be the really fun and beautiful course it can be...either that or lower the price below $100 and just know you'll have a long, uninspiring round.
Hapuna Golf Course

You will appreciate and enjoy the course more once you’ve played it several times. Angles can be important and green reading is difficult. Our recent round was ruined by a very slow group of inexperienced players that didn’t know enough to let us through ....a Marshall would have saved the day but none was to be found.
Carmel Valley Ranch Resort
Played On 10/09/2019For a small resort course...pretty good
When it's not just a golf vacation or when I go with my wife, who loves the game but is not yet ready to take on Pebble, this type of course is perfect. The staff was excellent and everything was well run. The course was in very good condition and although it's short the design kept it interesting and challenging. You're not going to feel like you're in the same league as the big name Monterey Peninsula courses but that's the point; this is a vacation with a little golf or a quick get away that golf is just another part of. We've stayed at Quail Lodge down the road many times for the same type of getaway, and I have to say that this golf course was far more interesting than the one at Quail. It's a fun course and a great inland location.
The Links At Bodega Harbour
Played On 6/21/2013It's all about the wind
You definitely need to see this course at least once to be able to correctly play it. Quite a few blind shots and the affect of the wind to consider. That wind is the biggest factor to consider. We were playing in 30+ MPH winds that made it laughable with many of our otherwise well struck shots. Quite frankly that ruined the round and made it difficult to appreciate the overall nice course set up and the view. And with the wind up don't be fooled by the short yardage - you'll see.
