Ballyneal Golf & Hunt Club
Played On 09/08/2017Amazing Golf Experience
Ballyneal is one of the best courses I have ever played. Awesome routing through the huge sand dunes of Eastern Colorado, great course conditioning, and just an all around perfect golf experience. If you have the opportunity to play drop everything and go. Doak hit a home-run with this course.
TPC San Antonio - Oaks Course
Played On 08/17/2017Fun Course, Pro Tournament Puts a Premium on Price
It's always fun to play where the pros play. This is a cool layout through the tress and plays fairly difficult. The main defense are the deep green side bunkers, if you miss the green by just a little bit you are most likely in one. The sand was super soft which made them hard to get out of. I played this course in August 2017 through a stay and play package so the rate was pretty cheap, this is definitely not a course worth playing during peak season and peak rates. Definitely better than the Canyons course though.
Rip Arnold at Cherry Hills Country Club
Played On 08/04/2017Must Play
Cherry Hills is truly a great golf course with lots of mature tress, elevation changes, and a strategic layout. The course is kept in near perfect condition which certainly adds to its overall allure. What makes it fun are the birdie opportunities you get with some easy holes sprinkled in with some very tough holes where you are fighting to make a good par. If you get the chance to play, do it.
Buffalo Run Golf Course
Played On 05/13/2017Good Course but Needs Some Love
Just recently played this course for the first time, I really enjoyed the links style layout. The greens were in perfect condition but some of the fairways and spots in the rough need a little work. I'd suspect that conditions will improve come June. The tips are at 7400 yards but it doesn't feel like it plays that long. My only complaint was with the marshall, she may have been the most clueless woman in the world. We had an open tee time in front of us and before that it was just a twosome that went off. In the middle of hole 6 and the group behind us nowhere in site, she decided to drive up to our group and demand that we keep up with the group ahead of us. i mentioned there is nobody in front of us and she snapped back, "I know, the twosome ahead of you is two holes in front of you, you need to keep up with them." At that point we realized what a complete moron she was thinking a foursome could keep up with a twosome who teed off 20 minutes before we did. The rest of day was enjoyable.
Pfluger 9 at Pinehurst Country Club
Played On 05/13/2017Fun Golf Course
Pinehurst is a great golf course that is always maintained to perfection. It's a parkland layout with mature trees all over, a little bit of elevation change and water, and very true greens. I enjoy this course every time I play, there is not a bad hole on the course.
Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills - Gold Course
Played On 05/06/2017The Best for the Money
I paid $55 to play this course including a cart. This place has to be one of the best values in the state. i have played numerous golf courses that charge around $80 and have worse conditions and layouts. Hyland Hills has a great layout, a lot of fun holes and is maintained like some of the nicer courses around. I usually complain about golf courses but I will be back to this one.
Cholla Course at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club
Played On 04/23/2017Awesome Golf Course
I recently played the Cholla course and absolutely loved it, especially the front 9. The layout is spectacular and the setting is beautiful. The conditions were perfect as well, the greens were pretty firm but i wish they were a little faster considering how firm they were. My only complaint was with the bar at the turn. We quickly went up to the bartender and asked if there were any quick meals specifically made for golfers at the turn. He said yes, breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. We ordered 4 breakfast burritos and I kid you not they took close to a half hour. We were getting relatively impatient and when we finally got them we had to slyly cut in front of another group making the turn which is a complete pain and rude to do but we didn't have a choice.
TPC Scottsdale - The Champions Course
Played On 04/22/2017Solid Golf Course
Had a great day playing the champions course. The course layout was challenging and the course was in good condition aside for some wet spots in the fairway. My only complaint was the slow greens, a nice course like this in my opinion should have the greens running close to an 11, these couldn't have been much faster than an 8.
Inverness Hotel & Golf Club
Played On 09/02/2016Fun and Challenging Course
Inverness is an awesome course to play; great conditions, tough layout, and not very crowded. It's a parkland layout with tree lined fairways, some elevation change, and plenty of water hazards. You can play this course over and over and not get bored of it. I'd recommend Inverness to anyone who gets the opportunity to play. Par 3's here are brutal.
Beaver Creek Golf Club
Played On 09/02/2016Nice Course
I was in Braver Creek for a wedding and several of the guests and I played the course. It's a very nice course and maintained really well. It's very tight, a lot of trouble, but a solid layout. While not my favorite mountain course it's certainly a fun course. I'm glad I got the opportunity to play but most likely will not return at $200/round. It's not like people in Beaver Creek care about money so they can charge whatever they want. Personally, I think Eagle Vail is a better course at half the rate.
Wellshire Golf Course
Played On 09/01/2016Fun Muni
Wellshire is part of the Denver public courses and in my opinion is the best one with the best layout. This is a fun golf course that is worth $40 to walk, maintenance is decent for a muni. If it were maintained with higher standards I would play it all the time.
Red Hawk Ridge
Played On 08/26/2016Fun Course With A Cool Setting
This is a fun golf course everyone should play once due to it's pretty setting and elevation changes. The golf course itself is so-so, maintained well but there is so much more that could have been done to make this course awesome. Your average Sunday hack could have done what Jim Engh did given the amazing plot of land he had to work with. (This is coming form someone who likes most of Engh's courses) A lot of boring golf holes, if not for the large changes in elevation that make this course unique they could only charge $40/round.
Broadlands Golf Course
Played On 08/05/2016Fine Course But Boring
The Broadlands is a fine golf course that is maintained well it's just flat, open, and boring. I certainly would not avoid it but will never go out of my way to play it again.
Park Hill Golf Club
Played On 08/04/2016A Course For Your Typical Hack
If you're looking to have a serious round at a nice course, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking to pound some beers, lack golf etiquette, and like to wear cargo shorts w/ a tee shirt you're in good company. I play here once a summer and it's certainly a good time, but I go in with the expectations of a 5+ hour round and nobody playing from the correct fairway. As far as golf is concerned it's amateur hour at its finest but that's not to say you can't have a good time in the sun.
University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch
Played On 07/29/2016Great Golf Course, Too Pricey
I really enjoy this golf course, great conditions, great layout but where do they get off charging $90/round. I would play this course all the time if were priced where it should be, around $65 including cart. If I'm shelling out $90 I'd rather play somewhere else.
Bear Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/16/2016Fun and Challenging Course
Bear Creek is a fun but very challenging golf course. Men only and very few people playing rounds each day, the pace of play here is amazing, easy to play 36 holes in under 7 hours. The course is maintained to perfection, trouble all over, (high grass, trees, water), numerous blind shots, and some very interesting holes. It is a must play for anyone who gets the opportunity to play.
EagleVail Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2016Must Play
Eagle Vail is a great golf course from tee to green. Some of the most unique holes I have ever played and tons of elevation change. This is one of my favorite mountain courses and even at $100 I'd recommend playing. Occasionally a little slow on weekends but just enjoy the round.
Vail Golf Club
Played On 07/02/2016Mediocre Besides A Few Holes
Green fees are high due to the course having a Vail address, nothing to do with the quality of the course. There are absolutely a few cool holes but the maintenance is average and the rest of the holes (about 14 of them) are what you'd find at a Denver Muni. I have no idea why anybody would pay to play here when Eagle Vail is the same price and 10x the golf course this place is.
The Ridge at Castle Pines North
Played On 06/30/2016Beautiful Golf Course
Every time I play this golf course it is enjoyable. Amazing views, creative golf holes, and perfect conditions make for an awesome round anytime you play. It's a little pricey but worth it to play at least once. The back nine is the better of the 2 in my opinion. It meanders through a forest and has some great holes with dramatic elevation change. I'd highly recommend playing if you have the chance.
The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks
Played On 06/24/2016Favorite Mountain Course
I played on a weekday at the twilight rate. I can;t remember the exact cost but slightly below $100. Anyway, what a great course, without a doubt my favorite mountain course that I have played. Awesome holes with amazing views. I'd highly recommend playing this course and I hope to get on it again in the near future.
Bunkertown20,
We appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback about your experience on the Champions course. We are right in the midst of transitioning from overseed to "summer" Bermuda. But the course conditions are still good. We will begin to see more dry conditions as temperatures begin to increase in the valley. We hope you will consider visiting TPC Scottsdale again in the near future.
Regards,
