Played On 05/15/2022A quick Sunday round, color me surprised
Started out as a single at 1pm on a Sunday. A twosome was in front of me and no one behind me. Ended up with a slow foursome in front of me after they let the 2 play through and paired up with another golfer who caught up to me on number 6. Once the foursome let us play through after 9, the round went quickly. Got it all done in 3.5 hours. On a Sunday afternoon! Color me surprised.
Course conditions are generally good. Tee boxes were mostly good. Greens were very good and fast. Fairways need some work especially on the front 9 as there are a lot of thin spots on 2, 4, and 5. Many other holes were missing grass in smaller areas but back 9 had less issues here. I know this has been the dry season but no grass in an area around a sprinkler head is an issue. Otherwise I was quite satisfied with the conditions. I definitely will play here again especially due to the good greens.

Weather was nearly perfect, clear sunny and warm with a bit of wind. Tee off about 1pm and the front nine was wide open. No waiting on any hole until I reached 10. Too bad I didn't play as nice as the weather was. Course was in good shape. Tee boxes were mostly in great condition. Greens were good but sandy so I assume they were aerated somewhat recently. But they rolled well, they held shots well, and the sand made them a little slower than usual - usual being fastest greens in the county. My only complaint is the fairways. A number of them were pretty thin and some areas were pretty wet which surprised me considering how dry the weather was. Still it was a good day on the course and some thin spots are a small negative.

Played On 11/11/2018A nice day for golf
A very nice day and enjoyable playing partners made for a good time on the course. Unfortunately the course was not as nice as I'd hoped. Green conditions were near perfect however many fairways were extremely wet. Considering how dry this area has been lately, I found the amount of wetness on the course very surprising. I'm not sure if someone left the sprinklers on way too long or possibly a very localized storm buried the course in water a day or 2 before but we really have not gotten much rain here so I did not expect the fairway conditions. Otherwise the course was in good shape and finishing with pars on 2 of the last 3 holes left me wishing I had played better earlier in the round.

Played On 07/04/2018Noticeably Improved
For the most part the fairways and greens were in good shape. One or two greens need more work but the improvement in course conditions is very noticeable over the past 6 months. Some tee boxes still need work but I could tell work has been done on them as well. Drainage for traps is not great but they did get quite a bit of rain the previous day so that's understandable. Course could use a starter/ranger as there was some slow play but all in all it was a good day of golf.

While not extremely long, this course demands you make solid tee shots and accurate approaches. While landing areas for tee shots (if you hit the right club) are fairly generous, errant shots can quickly find trouble. Wooded areas are thick, plenty of water also comes into play. Local knowledge a plus as you can't just take the driver to every par 4 or 5 and let it fly. You can score on this course if you're on target but it will cost you dearly if you're not. Tee boxes were good, fairways were excellent, and while the greens had been aerated that week, they still rolled pretty well. A very enjoyable round that was only marred by my own poor accuracy.

Played On 06/02/2018Nice course to play
Hot day on the course but a nice breeze was blowing so I didn't bake. Course conditions were very good, especially considering the amount of rain we've gotten lately. Tee boxes were fair to good, fairways were very good, greens were excellent. Course is a bit longer from the gold tees than I usually play. Between that and not being able to play for a few weeks due to weather, my score suffered some but I cannot blame it on course conditions.

Played On 04/23/2018A fun and scenic day of golf
I truly enjoyed the golf course. It has some great scenery on Holes 4 and 18 where you are hitting into the green with the Gulf of Mexico in the background. The course was designed by Donald Ross in an era without golf carts and other modern amenities so the holes are close together and a poorly hit shot can impact someone on another fairway. Conditions were not ideal, some thin spots on the fairways and some greens needed work, but considering they had just come out of winter, I felt the conditions were fair. Locals who played in front of me were very courteous allowing - really insisting - I play through since I was a single. 19th hole is a plus with a number of good local beers on tap. I will definitely play here again.

Played On 03/14/2018A fun first time playing here
This is definitely a course with some different holes so it pays to be with someone familiar with the course. Fairly short from the white tees, but if you play the blue or the gold tees, it will play long with some very interesting tee shots. I found the course relatively easy from the whites but maybe it was because I was hitting pretty straight all day. Spraying the ball will get you in trouble as there is water or woods (or both) on almost every hole. Tricky par 5s with double dog legs make proper club selection a must. Fairways were good but a little dry and thin due to lack of rain. I expect when the rainy season comes they will come back pretty easily. Greens were in nice shape. Areas around the green were cut down pretty low so it was easy to putt from 2 or 3 yards off the green. Tee boxes were fair. I liked that homes were not close enough to the course that I worried about hitting one on every tee shot. I really enjoyed the round, had to use just about every club in the bag.

Not a really long course, in fact I am no long hitter but was still able to comfortably play the blue tees. But you had better be accurate and know how long you hit each club because woods and hazards are waiting for your errant shot. Course conditions were excellent and these were probably the best greens I've played this year. Tees and fairways were in good shape, almost no bare spots. Greens were soft and held shots well. They were also fairly fast and easy to putt as long as you didn't miss the hole. As I was a single, I was twice allowed to go through other groups even though I wasn't really pushing them. So an A for golf etiquette to the other players as well. I will be going back to play there again soon.

This is a good tough course. Played from green tees (in between blue and white) and that was plenty long enough. While not exceptionally tight, this course still requires solid shot making and some holes really need the right tee shot to hit the green in 2. Course conditions were quite dry, I will probably wait until rainy season to play again as the fairways were hard in many places and even the rough was very green. The greens were short and fast but rolled true and held good irons. Sand traps were in good shape and had soft sand. Beverage cart was around just enough to keep my hydrated. It was a very fun day and I will be back.

Played On 07/24/2016Never a disappointment
Course conditions were very nice, especially the greens. Fairly slow early but got quicker as they dried out during the round. All greens rolled smoothly. Fairways were in very good shape and tee boxes were good. I have never been unhappy to play here as the staff treats you very well and the course is always in good shape. Beverage service was good and cheaper than a lot of other courses as well, always a plus in my estimation. While a bit of a drive to get here for me, I keep coming back because of the great conditions and the fair prices to play. Played in the late morning this time so I had to wait to hit on most holes but nothing excessive and the round took just over 4 hours. Mid to late afternoons are nearly empty and you can really zip through a round. Straight tee shots are a must and while houses don't intrude very often there are plenty of trees, water and sand waiting for the unwary. A thoroughly enjoyable round as I was hitting pretty straight for a change. I'll be back again.

Played On 07/18/2016A disappointing day
This was a frustrating day to play golf. Apparently some very bad weather came through the previous evening and there were tons of broken branches littering the course and cart paths. I was first to play at 7:10am and had to deal with some greens and fairways full of debris. Not the fault of the course, there is only so much you can clean up by early morning but it was a disappointing round for me. Not playing particularly well didn't help either. The course was very wet and my feet were soaked within a couple of holes but again, not the fault of the course. Otherwise the course was in good shape and the green held nicely but I wish I had gone out later in the day when it was cleaner and dryer.
Playing in Nature
This course places a premium on approach shots, Don't miss the green long or to the sides, they all slope away and often times will bounce your ball into a water hazard or the brush. Shots from there are "challenging". while many holes have generous landing areas for your driver, don't miss the green coming in. There are no sand bunkers on the course but there is a fair amount of water and a lot of waste areas that are also used as cart paths. No relief from these paths but at least you can ground your club. The course winds in and around a lot of natural settings, we saw gators, osprey, hawks and a falcon in our round. While the course was recently aerated it still played pretty well and was worth the price of admission. Next time in the area I'm playing again.
The Eagles Golf Club - Forest
Played On 06/04/2016A must play
The Forest Course is not long, even from the blues it comes out to only around 6200 yards but they are not easy yards. Drives need to be well placed to avoid trouble. Missing the green on approaches and par 3s can be very hazardous. A few of the sand traps were very wet due to recent rains. Otherwise course conditions were good even though recently aerated. While it's never a pleasure to play on aerated greens, they still rolled and held pretty well. Its just strange to see a shot hit the green and sand spray up. Otherwise a truly enjoyable round. Staff was excellent. Unfortunate the clubhouse was closed that afternoon due to private parties but the beverage service on the course was great and not as expensive as many other courses.
Thank you for your 5 star review! We appreciate your feedback as it helps future golfers know what to expect from our course. Hope to see you soon!

Played On 05/01/2016An Unexpected Pleasure
Weekend golf and a popular course is often a losing proposition but I was surprised to see the course was not very crowded. We got right off and while we waited on most holes on the front 9, the back 9 was almost never a wait. Course conditions were very good, fairways in nice shape and greens, while fast, rolled smoothly. Got the round done in just over 4 hours. I have played here other times when there were terribly long waits at certain holes but this round was a truly pleasure to play. Even saw some deer on one hole.

Really fun course. Difficult in spots with water and tight fairways. Not especially long but shot placement very important and local knowledge very helpful. I was really appreciative of the course booklet they gave me since it was my first time. Tee boxes in decent shape, fairways were nice except for the few areas that were pretty wet. Most of those were near the edge so good shots were not punished with bad lies. Greens held ok and rolled well but a few of them had some recently repaired spots that hadn't filled in yet. Some pin placements were tough, within 2-3 yds of the green edge. I really enjoyed the course and the conditions. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will play here again. For a Sunday in season, the round only took just over 4 hours.

Played On 01/31/2016A real mixed bag
The Good: First off this is a pretty course. A really nice scenic layout. While not a really long course it places a premium on shot making. There is plenty of water and trees to make you go back to your bag for more balls. And every green is well protected by sand. Most greens are elevated and have tiers and undulations making long putts especially challenging. Greens held shots well and putts usually rolled smoothly. Staff was friendly and the starter did a good job. Marshals also came around to ensure pace of play. On a very busy Sunday, we waited to tee off on most holes but never had an excessive wait on any shots. The Not so Good: Course conditions were average at best. Many greens were very thin which I found surprising based on the lack of cold weather this winter. Some traps were very hard and wet, others had large puddles. Fairways were in good shape but near the edges and sand traps were bare spots. Some greens had a good collar of grass, others were nearly bare. I expected better conditions and I hope my next visit sees lusher greens and dryer traps.

Played On 12/31/2015Interesting fun course
Not a long course but pretty narrow, so errant tee shots can land in city streets. Fairways are close together so they can also land where someone else is playing. A lot of holes are divided by water so it's a good idea to play with someone who has played there before. Fairways and tee boxes in decent shape, greens were quick but thin in spots. Numerous unrepaired ball marks on some greens but outside of that they putted smoothly and held irons well. Many of the holes featured elevated greens as well.
Great review! We are glad that you had a great time here at Clearwater Country Club. We pride ourselves on course conditions and service. Please come back and play again anytime!

Played On 12/27/2015Nice day of golf
Perfect weather for a golf outing and a lot of other people must have thought the same thing. While we were not playing very fast we were still waiting to tee off on every hole of the front nine and most holes on the back 9. Not unexpected in Fla in the winter though. Course conditions were good. Greens were fairly quick though not as fast as I remembered from my last time playing. The greens were pretty hard though. Had a 7 iron hit just past the middle of the green on one and roll off. But the greens rolled true and that was the important thing to me.
Pebble Creek Golf Club
Played On 11/29/2015Surprisingly tough course
Not an extremely lengthy course and conditions were nice but I had a hard time playing well here. A lot of water to deal with and most holes bent right or left. I really enjoyed the course. Fairways were good. Greens in nice shape though a bit thin in spots. But they held shots and rolled true. While a bit far from my home, I will come out and play here again. While rough is not particularly deep, it is tough to hit from and sometimes even find your ball. Twice I was within a few feet of mine and didn't see it.
Thank you for noticing the work we've been doing. We have quite the plan for improvements and recently just started patching and repaving critical areas of the cart path. Thanks again for the review and comments!
