Beautiful Day Beautiful Course

Second time playing this course! I was paired with a great guy and we enjoyed our experience on one of the nicest days you could have in Maine at this time if the year!

Course was in excellent condition, dry with very little wind. Perfect playing conditions. Foliage is beginning to change and the setting was just beautiful!! Starter let us out a little early and we didn’t catch up to the group ahead of us until the fourth hole. Pace of play a little slow, but acceptable.

Enjoyed the day and I’ll definitely go back!!

Confusion Resolved

I arrived at course office to check in and was told I could go right out. I asked the woman at the desk about the key for the cart. She said, you need to pay an additional $10. I explained that it was included in the “Hot Deal.” She said the rate you paid was a walking rate for 9 holes, I then told them the Hot Deal was for 18 including the cart. She agreed I could play 18 but needed to pay for the cart. Rather than argue, I said I would go to my car and get the money. Before I left the building, I opened up the GolfNow website and the offer of the 18 hole with a cart, for my time, this morning, was still available online. When I showed her the website she was flabbergasted and said this was not their intention, but being very professional she said she would honor the “Hot Deal.” Obviously, they need to organize their offers through GolfNow better in the future.

The course was in nice condition, though very wet from the dew and muddy in places from recent rains. The pace of play was perfect, as a few people had me play through as a single. I played 18 in a little over 3 hours and ironically, had my best score for this course.

Kudos for the staff for the appearance of the course, the mowers totally stopped when you were in an area they were working on. Lastly, I appreciated them living up to the details of my reservation!!

What a beautiful golf course!! Congratulations to the grounds staff for the condition maintenance of all 18 holes. Tee boxes, fairways and greens, all excellent. Rough was very difficult to get out of. Unfortunately, I spent too much time in there. A little spongy in some areas, some mud and wetness but you have to expect that early in the season in Maine. Fairways were great to hit from.

I’ll definitely be playing this course many times in the future!! One of the nicest courses I’ve ever played anywhere!!

Disappointed and Lousy Customer Relations

I made my reservation to play here at least 5 days in advance. When I arrived, I was informed that only one course (9 holes) was open due to maintenance. I asked why they didn’t explain that in Golf Now when I made my reservation. She told me they had just decided and she didn’t know herself, until the day before. Apparently, since this is operated by the County, the Golf Operation has no control over the Maintenance Operation. Obviously the two divisions have poor communications between them. I inquired when the new 9 hole course would open. I was told that the dates are all over the place as to whether it would be spring, summer or fall. When we drove out to the 9 hole course, that we had to play twice, we noticed several foursomes, playing the new course. When we arrived at the Starter, on the first tee, we questioned why there was play on the new, supposedly closed, course. He explained since the Maintenance closed off 9 holes for aeration, that they had to open the new course, since the Ladies Group plays on Tuesday and that they’ll probably do the same, on Thursday when the Men’s Group plays. Otherwise the would have had to turn away their public reservations for those days,

Overall, poor communications, poor Customer Relations, poor policy. Seems like no one is in total control? If I was the County Executive I would certainly change the way business is conducted at Sailfish Sands FAST!!!!
I will not play Sailfish Sands the rest of this season due to this screw up!!

Nice Day, Nice Couple

I arrived and was able to get out half hour early. Beautiful, warm, low humidity, bright day, dry conditions with a light breeze. At the third hole I was asked to play through as I was a single. On the 5th hole I caught up to a couple who was bogged down due to a foursome ahead of them. They asked me to join them which was a nice gesture and added some distance between us and the foursome. They we’re great people and I enjoyed their company enormously!! We finished our round in just over 3 1/4 hours. I enjoyed my day at Indianwood immensely! Only wished I played a little better!! Oh well!!

First Time!

Played Indian Hills for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful, warm, breezy day. Started out as a single but on 3rd hole I was asked to join a threesome. After a few holes the Grandfather and Grandson asked us to go on ahead, since they realized they were slowing us down. I met a great guy to play the remainder of the course and we had a decent round. He even gave me a couple of golf tips, to help my swing, which seemed to work. I’ll have to practice and get comfortable with his suggestions. The only two things that I wished were different; the fairways and not in great condition and the foursome ahead of us, did not offer to allow us to play through, so it took us just about 4 hours for our round. At the last hole we were surprised when a medium size alligator walked across the back of the green, down the hill past the bunkers and into the water. At least he didn’t try to steal our balls. I’ll definitely play Indian Hills again this season.

Nice Pace Played Well

Played by myself today!! Got out ahead of my scheduled time. No one in front or behind me for most of the round!! Played at my own pace. Relaxing round, which it gave me time to better plan my shots. Drove the ball well, wished I putted better! Had my lowest round at this course today!! I’ll be back!! The fellow at the bag drop was very friendly and efficient!! The woman who checked me in was very pleasant and got me out early!!! All in all a great day!!

Nice New Find

First time playing course and was pleasantly surprised! Though it was windy and crowded I enjoy the layout and variety of holes. The pace on play only bogged down a few times and we completed our round in under 4 hours. Tee boxes and green were very well maintained, fairways a little to be desired. Condition was probably due to lack of rain the last few weeks. I’ll definitely play this course again!! By the way the staff was very nice and the volunteer who handled my bag, coming and going, was great!

Second Time

Had a slow slog playing golf at Sailfish Sands due to the amount of people playing. Even though it was busy, we kept moving at a slow but comfortable pace. I didn’t feel rushed or pushed and was able to set up appropriately for my shots. The course was in ok to very good condition however some of the rough was impossible to hit out of! Needs to be trimmed or replanted with different grass. Fairways are relatively generous and most shots stayed in play. The cart paths are in poor shape and the new hi-tech carts are taking a beating! Since they are under renovation in some areas, I would think addressing the cart paths should be a high priority!!

The weather was warm, slightly breezy and dry! For my second time playing I enjoyed playing even though my score was a little higher than my first time visiting this course.

Hassle at Checkin

Arrived to play my round ans upon Checkin, I was informed it was shared carts unless you paid an additional $10. With COVID spiking again, why in the world are they even considering this policy? As I explained to the desk attendant, this was not stated in the Golf Now information about the course when making my reservation. After some discussion, she relented and gave us keys for two carts.

It was a drizzly and very wet day and the course was still very soft and muddy in many areas. Naturally, we’ve have a lot of rain this fall and after several days of windy dry weather, I was hoping the conditions would have been better!

Fortunately for us, the course was not busy and we had a relaxing round without feeling rushed.

Muddy

Played two days ago, course was a disaster; water, puddles and mud everywhere. Extremely soggy and sloppy. Played again today after a couple of dry days, still very muddy and soft. Just returned to Florida from our home I. Maine. Need to wait longer for it to dry out. Lots of plugged balls, no run out, puddles and sloppy conditions. After my rounds both days I had to use hose at club house to clean my shoes!!

Maybe I’ll try again next week!! Guess they had tons of rain this summer and early fall. Oh well, that’s golf!!!

Great 2nd Nine!!

Today I struggled on my first go-round and my score showed it. However, even though it was very windy and gusting at times, I turn it around on the 2nd nine. Everything clicked and I wound up with the best back nine, I’ve ever played!! It was so good it dragged down my lousy score and I ended up with my best 18 hole round at Salmon Falls!

Now , I have a big challenge ahead of me every time I play going forward!! I accept the challenge!

Best Score at Freeport

Yesterday I had my best 18 at Freeport!! It was a nice day, not too hot, breezy but humid. The course was relatively dry and hard. I was able to make great shots that got some extra runout due to the conditions. I hit lots of fairways and bogies with only two holes of doubles or more.

Earlier in the week I had one of my worst scores at Freeport and went there yesterday with redemption in mind!!! And boy, did I redeem myself!

I’ll be back!!

Played Poorly on a Course in Nice Shape

I don’t know what happened but I played really poor golf today!! My bad!! Course was in nice shape, mowed recently and grooming seemed better than normal. I certainly didn’t play up to PAR!!! My PAR! Oh well! I’ll go back a few more times this summer and challenge myself to do better!! Very few people playing so I didn’t feel any pressure to keep a fast playing pace!! Oh well, that’s golf!!

First Timer

We were vacationing in the White Mountains and I search for a nice course, nearby, where I could golf. This course was 45 minutes south of where we were, in an area near Squam Lake, which I was familiar with.

When I arrived at the course I was very impressed with the facility when I drove in. It was beautiful, looked very well maintained and quite busy. That’s always a good sign! I went to the office and was greeted by a staff member who was very professional, friendly and efficient!! I went out to the cart area and was greeted by an older gentleman who again was very eager to assist me. The practice green was in excellent condition and from what I could see of the course, it appeared well groomed and maintained. I was paired with two others and we went out on time. I was impressed with the condition and layout of golf holes. It was longer than I usually play with lots of interesting twists and turns. Since we had rain in the area this week there were two holes that were very wet, soft and muddy. YUK! Otherwise I enjoyed the round and the company. Unfortunately, I live in Maine and the course is too far to travel to for a day of golf. If I’m in this area again I would definitely want to play the course again!

A nice surprise in the Squam Lake area!!

Thank you for taking the time to travel a bit and try our course. We do have some work to do long term on a couple holes when wet, but as you pointed out, it is still a great experience. Please come again.

Best Condition Ever

I’ve been playing Freeport for the past 7 years when I’m in Maine during the summer. This is the best I’ve ever seen the condition of the course from tee boxes, to fairways and greens. Today it was pretty wet in the low areas due to severe thunderstorms last night. The cutting of the fairways was excellent. I’d like to see the cart paths improved so they are not so rutted with water puddles!

I played here for the first time this season and matched my best score ever on this course!

I’ll definitely be back!!!

First Time Very Pleased

Played Salmon Falls for first time yesterday and was very pleased. Will definitely play course again!! In fact, I have a reservation for next Monday!!

Course is a little out of the way. The drive to the course was nice, a little circuitous, but I found it.

The person in the club house was very accommodating, pleasant and hospitable. She pointed me to the 1st tee and off I went. The fairways were well defined and cut nicely, tee boxes offer 4 locations (I played the red and blue), green were very well maintained and looked fantastic for a 9 hole local public course. Maybe the best green I’ve putted on in a long while. The rough is really rough, but fortunately the fairways are wide and I hit most of them.

It had rained profusely for two days earlier this week so I pushed my reservation back 1 day. Glad I did! The course drained well and the surfaces were quite firm , much to my surprise!! I didn’t experience any really soft or muddy areas. The only things I found issues with were that the cart paths are in need of repair, they were quite bumpy and rutted. As I approached the tee at #7/#16 I had to wait for the mower to get out of my way. He never stopped mowing the fairway I was aiming for. Usually the grounds crews get out of your way, stop mowing and turn off their machines when you are in the area they’re working!

I had a nice first round and look forward to playing again next Monday!

Tight and Challenging!

Arrived ahead of schedule and checked in!! We got out around our appointed time. Had to wait until last minute to load cart, due to single cart usage. (Coronavirus situation). Was paired with a nice, friendly and easy going couple! Who played pretty well and knew the course.

Enjoyed our round! Course was not in the greatest shape, but was playable. Golf course is very tight with lots of water and wetlands. Lost quite a few balls. LOL!! Since it had rained a lot recently, course drained pretty well, not too many muddy areas.

Pace of play was slow took just over 4 hours.. I didn’t have my best day but enjoyed the company and the challenges the course threw at me!! Had played here once before about a year ago.

Beautiful Day

Perfect day for Florida golf. Under 80 degrees, nice breeze, partially cloudy no rain in sight!!

Played with my next door neighbor for the 2nd time. Course is in very nice shape, fun while still challenging! Able to hide from sun due to large trees and bushes. Extra wide fairways for the most part. Numerous tee boxes for all levels and ages of players! Played relatively well but had a great time. Played 18 in 3 1/2 hours. We’ll be back!!
