Lakeside Golf Club
Played On 09/11/2017Good day on the links.
They have done a lot of work to repair some fairways.
Still a bit more to be done, especially on 17. Greens are in good shape. Like the fact practice areas are included in fees. Good value.
Highwood Golf and Country Club - Heritage/Mountainview
Played On 05/03/2016Great early season round.
Course is in great shape for early May.
McKenzie Meadows Golf Club
Played On 08/10/2015South Calgary in the valley on the shores of the Bow River
This track is "walkable" but there are a few holes with distance between green to tee, we rode. Course was in great shape with fairly wide fairways. Greens are large and quite receptive for a hot day, 86. but there were a lot of unrepaired ball marks. Come on people "fix your ball marks". Some tricky reads, overall very good.
The view from the 10th - very nice. Can see a lot of the valley. For an "in city" course it feels like your not.
Good practice facilities. Bunkers, chipping, and of course putting. Driving range has good distance markers.
All this for under a hundred bucks. A pretty good deal for the location. I will play this course again.
They are doing some remodeling on the course but doesn't interfere with play.
Tooth of the Dogpound Creek Golf Course
Played On 07/21/2015Not bad for out in the country, but!
Had a little difficulty finding the course, directions could be better. It's east of Cremona.
Moderate club house but they have what you need, and the food is reasonable.
Getting around the course needs more directional signs, it was our first time playing this course and we went the wrong way several times. Frustrating.
16 is a 500+ par 4, ?.
My opinion, it's not worth the drive from south Calgary.
Lakeside Golf Club
Played On 06/25/2015Great day for a round.
Set in a community just outside Calgary amongst very nice homes. Homes come into play for the left and right player but only on three or four holes, keep it on the fairway and no worries. There are a number of water hazards. 18 is about a 125 yard carry to the green. Bring extra balls.
Fairways were in good condition considering the amount of winter kill there was this year. Greens were in great shape. Played week day so the beverage cart starts at noon, just as we were approaching 18th green, not sure about weekends.
We would definitely play this course again.
Didn't enter the clubhouse so can't comment on the food. My playing partner had to rush off. Maybe next time. We'll be back.
The Bridges at Claresholm Golf Course
Played On 07/21/2014nice to play
Easy access right off the highway on the southern part of town.
Very friendly staff and willing to accommodate.
grass practice tees, markers from 50 to 250 yds.
First time playing this one and we will play this course again.
Canyons at Oasis Golf Club
Played On 04/14/2014Carved through the canyons in Mesquite.
Awesome. Bring your camera, I forgot mine. Several holes have 100ft drop to the fairway, beautiful views. Now to golf. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens in great shape. Up club at least 1 maybe 2. If you live right the canyon walls will give back errant shots, some not all. A definite "play again". I hear the canyons course has even greater views.
The 9th does not return to the clubhouse but there is a concession between 9 - 10. limited selections. Hot dogs, etc.
Con: Beverage cart does not have sandwiches, just junk food, beverages and bars.
Resort at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Played On 04/09/2014Extremely disappointed.
I chose this course because it was one of Arnold's. Boy what a mistake... read on.
Upon arrival there was no one at the bag drop. Parked then went back to get my clubs not there. Guess there was an attendant after all. Checked in at the pro shop, made me feel like I was interrupting. Not friendly at all. Searched the starting area for my clubs for at least 10 minutes, no help finding them at all. Found an attendant and asked where to go. Pointed and said "go see him". Lacking a bit of customer service. Finally found the cart with my clubs, no tees in the cart, no towel to wipe the clubs, and no complementary water. Had to go back to the restaurant to get some. I've played many other courses in the area and this was by far the most disappointing. Greens were in poor shape long grass and looked like the surface of the moon, ball marks all over. Even after repairing the ones in my line the ball did not run true. One gentleman in our foursome was new to the game, marshals were rude to him for not keeping pace. It's a public course they could have been more understanding. By 17 we were only 1 hole behind. I've seen worse.
I feel bad for Mr. Palmer if he only knew how people are treated at one of his courses I'm sure the issues would be addressed.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE!! But I have to say it was busy so many play it.
PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course
Played On 04/07/2014Very nice layout
Sand and water come into play off the first tee as well as the 18th. The holes in between offered me some easy holes as well as tough ones. Great course and it was a great day for golf also. A definite play again. You gotta try it!!
Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 04/05/2014A Must Play
Course was in great shape. Not enough superlatives to describe. Wide fairways, Water comes into play, pick your target. A definite "play again".
Desert Dunes Golf Course
Played On 03/31/2014Breezy? nope WINDY!! 30 to 50mph
This would have been fun without the wind. Ball rocking on the greens and so was I. Pick a day when the wind is not blowing or call the pro shop. Good to very good layout, some "picture" holes.
CONS: Not enough yardage markers on the fairways, needed yardage finder, don't have one. Even with sooo many courses in the area I would play this again.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 12/09/2013Undulating greens. Wow, understatement!
Great facilities, tee boxes and fairways in great shape, wide fairways with just enough sand to make it interesting. Those greens however!! Elevation changes of 4 to 6 feet on some, Designer must have had a grudge. Stick your approach shots within 3 feet otherwise you're putting from long way away.
Hunter's Creek Golf Club
Played On 7/12/2013I'd play it again. With a "sky caddy or similar.
Reasonable course. Wide fairways not too much trouble. Distance markers on course very difficult to find. First time playing this course wasn't sure of yardages. Tricky greens, challenging but good.
Falcon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 04/12/2013Cart path only, being reseeded. Wet conditions due to watering. Several soggy spots on the fairways but greens were in good shape.
Overall good experience despite the wet fairways. Wide fairways allow for those not so straight shots.
Hi "waynepaquin" we hope that you enjoyed your challenging round with us. There are a few water hazards throughout the course. But as you said if you keep it straight then you are good to go! We do have a sale on Titleist Balls so don't forget to stock up before your next round with us.
