Puerto Cancun Golf Club
Played On 11/20/2016Work in progress but excellent course
Some construction surrounding the course; but is not a deterrent to your round.
All the amenities; pro shop, coffee shop, putting green and driving range are basic but the prices in the pro shop are much more reasonable than other comparable courses.
The course layout is good but long par 3s are near impossible for average players to reach from tee. Especially for the forward tee players with 20+ handicap.
The condition of the fairways and greens were excellent.
The green fee is comparable or cheaper than other like courses. Close location to the hotel zone makes it attractive to play.
There are canals but you only see the ocean on one of the holes.
Compare to other courses of slope rating 120(forward); I give it 8 out 10.
El Camaleon Mayakoba Golf Club
Played On 11/16/2016Interesting course but expensive
I decided to play this well known course because I was able to find a discounted green fee for the afternoon tee time. I would not have played at their regular green fee.
The dining facility was excellent for a quick bite before or after the game.
The fairways and the greens were in great condition. Surrounding canals, bridges, boats on the canals give character to the course scenery. From the forward tee the course was a very enjoyable resort course. I am sure it is a totally different course from the back tees.
Although the tee sheet seemed full, the pace was smooth.
I found that the rough here is a bit gnarly, I had to take one club up to get the distance.
Overall a great experience.
