Timber Ridge Golf Course
Played On 10/05/2020Timber Ridge GC - play on 5 Oct 2020
Had a long drive, got to course 1 1/2 hour before tee time...pro shop said I could go any time....and I did. Met a guy on 1st tee, we paired up and he showed me around course and where to hit or not. Screwed up on 1st tee, no warm up or stretching I selected driver - bad choice, should have hit 3-wood. Played the hybrid format - I am 73 1/2 years old, all my shafts are Senior flex.
Small sand-filled plugged greens, they had not winter plugged yet with thunb-sized holes. Greens still were fast and true - with 50 degree temp. Beautiful, playable course, a couple of forced carries - not bad though; a lot of holes could be Timber Ridge's "signature hole".
Well worth the drive, where ever you live.

Green fees are priced affordable for area. Course is two entirely different courses in one, out/front is link'ish style; at the turn the in/back is 'American' style. Greens are true and most of the time fast, number 4 par 5 gets your attention as well as number 9 - which is a par 4 and plays around a lake to a double-green shared by 18th green. Now for the back, Amen Corner is #13, 14, and 15 - par 5, 4, and 3 respectively. Thirteen: LONG, crosses creek twice to a 3-tiered green. Fourteen: deceiving, perfect drive is down the hill short of the creek; 2nd chip to an elevated false front green. Fifteen: par-3 over pond - nothing more to say.

Played this course Tues (7/14), weather perfect. Bring a face mask - you need this to enter building; you do not have to wear it during play, if you don't want to ride together a $5 fee is assessed for 2nd cart.
Greens are perfect, they did not break as much as expected...personal opinion.
Always liked this course, different setup than most courses you will play...3 par 5's, 3 par 4's, 3 par 3's each side; front is links style open, back is not links style.

Course was in GREAT shape, especially the greens, fast and true; not much break. I have played this course many times; I am 73, I played with friend who will be 64 soon. He played regular white tees for entire round, I played white tees for front; but switched to gold tees for back nine.....temp was 95, 'what it feels like' had to be close to 105-110.
Lowell and his staff were very mindful to their customers.
We appreciate your kind comments u000007659354. Sounds like you had one of the hot days this summer, hopefully you were able to find some shade once in awhile to cool off.
We hope to see the two of you again soon.
