Heythrop Park Resort
Played On 01/10/2024Excellent course in January
Given most of the area is flooded we phoned arround and was surprised that Heythrop was fully open aith not temp greens or tees. Heythroup is a prestigious location that is worth a visit or stay given its hotel and manor house. The course is really tough, long and lots of walking so be prepared. It has some great, challenging holes that keep the round interesting. It does have long walks between some tees but never an issue for us. Given the time of year the course was in excellent condition. Green good, tees alittle scruffy but okay. Fairways were failry firm which allowed some roll. Overall we were very impressed that the course was in a very playable condition given the extremely wet weather. We will be back.
Only slight negative is that the old clibhouse has gone and if you want a post game drink you have to use the main hotel lobby bar. We did not bother so cannot comment but felt a little strange the previous stud bar is no longer in place,

Playing this beast in the winter is a challenge but worth it. Very wet conditions still playable.
Loveky warm welcome on arrival and also in the bar after the round
We will be back but prob wait for some drier conditions
Wokefield Park Golf Club
Played On 10/10/2023Worth a visit
Really pleased with our day out at Eokefiekd park. Played it a few times but for me it was in the best condition I've seen it. Normally very dry in summer. It's a long but well laid out course. Most holes have danger from large bunkers, water or trees. Pro shop staff very friendly which is a good start.
We will be back
Wokefield Park Golf Club
Played On 06/07/2023Worth a visit
The layout of this course is really good. Undulating fairways, huge bunkers and really challenging lakes to avoid. Greens were pretty good although showing signs of dryness on some. Generally the greens were a little firm so holding the green was a challenge. It's a very long course but set in beautiful grounds so it's a lovely walk. When we played the course was virtually empty so very relaxing. Only issue was one of the green was on a temp green. This was not mentioned when we signed in so we hit 2 nd shots up hill to a green that was not in at. This was annoying and spoiled that hole.
We thought it was great value for money and will be back
Weston Turville Golf Club
Played On 07/07/2022The good the bad and the ugly
First time visit to this club. Firstly the good. Really friendly lady in the Pro shop took the time to tell me about the layout. General impression was the members gave it a friendly feel, we felt very comfortable. Layout is pretty good, not to long but tight fairways to focus the mind.
Now the Bad. Tee Boxes are poor. Usable but just very scruffy. Bunkers are prob the worst I have seen. No sand, weeds growing in most. Some signs of works to improve the old bunker but to be honest I did not see anyone working on the course.
Finally the ugly: The Greens. Felt like a pitch and put course run by the council. No idea what's happened but green are long, weeds and various clumps of cgrsses that mesn a true put is almost Impossible.
Based the condition we won't be returning, even if good value. We will keep an eye on reviews because it could improve with some TLC.
Studley Wood Golf Club
Played On 05/26/2022Top course
Not played at Studley Wood for 15 years so a treat to go back. The course is amazing. Greens were the quickest I have played for a while and realty well designed, so many breaks you never get a simple put.
Loads of water and perfect bunkers, I found both. Fairways are generally generous and rough is pretty short but don't be fooled, it's tough. Straight and long is the name of the game but much of the course has premium for accuracy rather than driver.
It is on the expensive side but got a hot deal so worth it
Bicester Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/17/2022It's a nine hole course.
No mention when booking or even after checking in. Walked to the first only then to realise the old front mine is closed. Walked over to the 10th and then we realised you okay the same 9 holes twice. Golf now shows pictures of the closed nine and no where does it stay it's a 9 hole course.
Condition is good but playing the M40 loop twice us not ideal.
Please make it clear and get the staff to at least advise when booking through Golf Now.
Overall. Souless.
Cotswolds Club Chipping Norton
Played On 03/23/2017Lovely venue
I have not played here for 25 years and I am pleased to say the course remains a relatively short but always interesting course. Layout is good and I suspect even better once the trees start to get leaves. Greens were in good condition, a little slow buts probably just the time of the year. Really nice club house and good looking pro shop.
Overall everyone really enjoyed the game and we agreed to come back again in the summer and see it at its best.
Will recommend to friends.
