About

Inconsistent but improving rapidly. I've managed to shed 15 strokes off my game in the last 2 years. Decent short game, ok iron play, tee shots are streaky (hit or miss). Managing the course and my strengths vs. weaknesses is something I've been getting good with. One swing at a time is the key for me.

On the Comeback!

I live on the South Hampton course across the street but was unable to get a tee time for this day so decided to give Cima another shot. I used to play here regularly but the course was almost always in disrepair. Nonetheless, I still play here a few times a year because I truly enjoy the layout. Let me tell you, I was beyond surprised when I teed it up on this day.

Finally, this course is getting some love and it’s definitely responding. It’s not perfect but easily the best shape I’ve seen it in for some time. Greens are in the best shape they’ve been in in at least 5 years. Again, not perfect but good. Definitely slow though. Fairways in good shape also. Some bare spots here and there but definitely not anything serious. Tee boxes were in fair condition. They did have 16 partially closed since they’re servicing the fairway. I’m good with that.

Will absolutely play here again. If you’re considering giving Cima another shot, do it. 😊

Loads of Potential

This course could be so much more than it is. It's in decent shape. Greens are good. Some grown in bunkers. Some bare spots on the fairways and or crab grass. Again, in decent shape but should be so much more. Golf carts were annoying. No one told me that the carts shut down if you venture into a 'restricted area' of the course. 'Restricted areas' were very regular areas for other courses but on this course, not so much. Golf cart flat out shuts off and you have put it in super slow reverse until you leave the 'restricted area'. These area are not marked and this cart feature was not explained in any way shape or form when I checked in. That would have been nice!
Course was pretty tough. Definitely a members course. You will need to play it a few times to get the ins and outs. Good fun though.
If you can find a hot deal then this course is good value at $22 or less. Don't pay more than that.

Still a Great Place to Play

Good shape overall. Course was a little soft because of heavy rain the prior days. Definitely the best of the 3 courses here. They are still closing the grill early so if you're looking for a beer after your round you'll need to go elsewhere. Very little drinking water on the course also for this time of year and no beverage cart. Message to course management, you're missing out on $$$ and providing a better experience for the player.

Absolutely Beautiful!

I found a Hot Deal for this course back in May and I'm just now getting to right the review.
Let me simply say that this course was amazing! Absolutely beautiful! Perfectly manicured, great staff, challenging layout, a few very difficult pins. The 'marsh' holes will be 4 of the most fun and picturesque holes you will ever play. Par 3, Par 4, Par 5, and a Par 3. The first three holes have forced carry tee shots from the blues. The Par 4 and Par 5 give you the feeling of driving into the abyss. Incredible!
Go play this course asap. If you can find a Hot Deal the value is unmatched! ENJOY!

Go Play the Jekyll Island Courses for a Few Bucks More

I'll give you the positives first: 1) Greens are in excellent shape. 2) The course layout is fun and interesting. Outside of these two things, this place was really a waist of time. Every fairway is either dirt or crab grass, the rough is either dirt or weeds, the one staff member I met was not pleasant at all, to top that off 2 foursomes were allowed to jump in on us at the turn which slowed play to a snails pace. The back 9 was painfully slow and not fun. Allowing groups to jump in on 10 is not acceptable at all. We were the second group to go out in the morning and that was for a reason. Pace was great until the back. Pay the extra few bucks and go play one of the Jekyll Island courses that are only 10-15 minutes away.

Best of the 3

Pine Lakes is the better of the three 18 hole course at Jekyll. Moderately difficult, very well maintained, classic southern coastal layout. It poured down rain the night and morning before I played but the fairways and greens drained nicely. I think I only contended with two soggy spots on the course in 18 holes. Only negative point I have and this is generally speaking for the entire complex, don't shut down the 19th hole so ridiculously early on a Saturday. I was done playing at 3p and my father and I wanted to grab a couple of beers and lunch. No such luck, bar and grill were closed. We weren't the only ones looking to enjoy the 19th hole either. We went to SeaJays instead. Great place for an after round meal if the clubhouse at the course is closed.

Best Shape Yet

Same challenging Cimarrone, good pace of play, good price point. Without question the best shape I have ever seen this course. Not just good greens and fairways but newly manicured as well. Tall water side grass trimmed way down, new palm trees planted, unneeded bushes removed, the course looks and is playing its best. Staff was more engaging than usual which was very nice. The most fun I've ever had here.

Ocean Course Fun but Over Priced for the Conditions

Fun course, short, fairly challenging, greens in good shape, ocean holes were fun and tough. The unfortunate thing was that the conditions of the fairways and tees were drastically different from hole to hole. Some holes the fairways were practically dirt and others were in good shape. Some tee boxes were grassy and others were chewed up. I will say, for me, the enjoyment of playing an ocean course out weighed the negatives and it may be that way for you. If the ocean course thing doesn't matter to you then this course is not really worth the high price. When the conditions improve, however, this will be a gem in no small part also to the amazing staff and beautiful clubhouse complete with top notch 19th hole.

Wonderful Golf Experience

I've been wanting to play here and I wasn't disappointed. Great people! From the cart guys to the starter (really nice guy!) to the bar staff, all very welcoming and pleasant. The course is in great shape, greens are beautiful, fairways are plush. Definitely worth the $30 I paid. Give this place a shot if you can!

Average Service At Best But Beautiful Course

Gorgeous course! It's too bad when I showed up I was told that I was not getting a GPS unit even though my reservation said I did, also was given a scorecard that was already used (of course I didn't notice that until I finished the first hole), and a random twosome was allowed to jump in front of us at the turn. These issues were just a few. Outside of that, the course was great and challenging. Not easy at all! I probably will not ever play here again though. Not worth the $150+ fee. Slammer & Squire is a FAR better experience. There are a ton of nice courses out there so unless you're dead set on playing here, you will get equal condition, better value and better service for half the cost or less somewhere else!

Nice Course / Pretty Easy

This is a well kept course and very open. Greens are in great shape, fairways are plush, and the layout is more than fair. I feel like I scored way better than I struck the ball which indicates to me that the course is pretty easy. With that said, I had a blast! You always do when you score...lol. Look for a Hot Deal tee time on this course and it's a steal! Enjoy!

Course is in Great Shape (Including the greens!)

Great shape! Greens are fantastic! Speeds of the greens are a little inconsistent but each one is plush and rolls well. If you've played this course before you will undoubtedly be impressed with how for its come. If you've never played it before the course is absolutely worth the time.

Best shape I've seen this course

No doubt the best shape I have ever seen this course in. It's not pristine but it's in good shape. Greens are very well maintained, fairways are mostly plush. 15 is open again. Very fun hole! Drivable par 4 over water. Love it!

Setting the Bar

The Slammer and Squire is setting the bar for the golfing experience. From the moment you're picked up in the parking lot to that last sip of your beer at the bar/grille 'The Slammer' delivers. The course is in perfect condition with each whole presenting its own set of challenges and fun. Plush fairways, smartly placed sand traps, undulating greens encourage and challenge every level of player. Mix that with the people, practice range, and cold apples at the turn and you've just had one the best golfing experiences you will have. Booking is a little pricey at $80-$150 but if you can find a better deal or use your GolfNow rewards the value is unmatched! I'll be back for sure :-)

Beautifully Kept Course

This course is pristine and a fantastic value! Fair and challenging, each hole has its own unique character. Greens are in perfect shape! Every fairway is plush. Even the rough was a consistent length around the track. I enjoyed every stroke on this course. Great pace of play and the pro shop attendant was incredibly nice and very helpful. He specifically asked if this was my first time on the course (which it was) and made sure I knew exactly how to get around the facility. The only reason this is not a 5 star score is because I played on a Saturday and there was not a beverage/snack cart in sight. Not acceptable in my opinion for a weekend. Also, there were several bunkers without rakes. Don't let that stop you though. Bring a couple of drinks and enjoy!

Very Slow Play

Course is in good shape. Greens are in great condition! Not happy with the pace of play though. It took me almost 3 hours to play the front 9. The pain point was the fact that the course was covered with 'walkers' on a weekend afternoon. Not a good idea in my opinion.
