Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
Played On 03/01/2024Overall playable course
There is a lot of water but for the most part there is room to hit without white knuckling it the whole time. The fairways are pretty generous and in decent condition. Overall the conditions are pretty good. There are a lot of geese and ducks around and on a few holes there are too many. The greens were in good shape and tough to make a putt on. Practice area was mats only and the $10 range fee was a rip off. There were balls readily avaible without paying.
TPC Scottsdale - The Champions Course
Played On 02/29/2024Awesome Greens/Barrren on the edges
This is a top notch course. It is directly under a very busy airport. Small planes and a few large jets fly over continuously. The greens are very smooth and quick like professional level quality. The tees and fairways were also in good condition. Of the the fairway is gravel, so the overall appearance is not as plush as the price, $250 on Thurs. at noon. There was also some major construction around several of the holes. They were mostly out of the way, but didn't add to the atmosphere. Overall a great and very playable course. It is mostly flat which was welcome after playing a couple course in the mountains.
Quintero Golf Club
Played On 02/28/2024Beautiful challenging course
This course is in great condition. The greens are very firm and fast. They are very hard to make a putt on. The breaks are subtle and if you miss by a little you can roll a long ways away. The course is picturesque. You need your A game. Once we moved up to the shorter tees it was easier and more fun to play. We got a discount. I wouldn't pay full price to play there.
Whirlwind Golf Club - The Devil's Claw Course
Played On 02/27/2024Nice desert corse
This course wasn't as lush as I rembered. It has a great practice area included with greens fee. The course overall is in good condition all around. Greens are firm a quick.Sand traps are in good shape and plentiful. The course gets tough as the day wears on. There are a couple doglegs with blind layup shots. We saw a giant fat rattlesnack off one of the greens. That was a first I'd be fine not repeating. A highlight is a cold brew at the Gila River Casino after the round.
The Phoenician Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2024Fun course in the foothills
This was a nice resort course. The layout was fun and playable, especially on the back nine that wound through the hills in the mountains. There wer nice views and fun shots with lots of elevation changes. Conditions were very good. Fairways were wide and lush. Off the fairways is gravel typical for Phoenix. The greens were a little soft and overwatered but generally were smooth and medium fast. Conditions were nice like an upscale resort.
Course #3 at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club
Played On 10/03/2023Good conditions but way to high rough
The greens are big and smooth and rolled true and fairly fast. The bunkers had sand and were well raked unlike most courses these days. The immediately noticeable problem is the rough was way too long. The rough is about three inches high and over grown and unkept. It is extremely difficult to find balls that are only a few feet off the fairway. The last four or five holes are the best on the course. A few in the middle are short. They should follow the lead of other modern public courses and widen the fairways a bit and and cut the roughs to a playable length. It would be more fun and spend a lot less time looking for balls.
Overall conditions were good and a fun, somewhat easy track, but the tall rough spoils the experience.
Ravisloe Country Club
Played On 10/09/2022Great Ciyrse, gorgeous day
The course was well set up for Sunday morning play. Tee boxes that were under repair during the week were cleaned up and placed back to normal positions. Many tee boxes were set near the tips so we got the full experience. Many great holes throughout the course. Greens were true and some tough hole placenets on subtle Don Ross mounded greens. The numerous sand traps were in good shape.
Thank you for your review. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Ravisloe Country Club. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Ravisloe Country Club
Played On 10/06/2022Good Don Ross Layout
Course layout always fun and challenging. Conditions a little rough from heavy summer play and tee maintence. Tee placements inconsistent and confusing. Card says hybrid but markers are just gray. Gray tees played very short like forward senior tees. Lots of trees and sand. Trees seemed very well maintained. Greens were smooth, but soft and over watered in spots. Some great golf holes throughout the course
Thank you so much for your feedback. We are glad you had enjoyed your time at Ravisloe Country Club, and pride ourselves on delivering the best experience possible.
We hope to see you again soon!
Oak Brook Golf Club
Played On 05/02/2022Good early season round.
Course was a little wet and greens not up to par yet but ok for early season. First tee was crowded and we teed of about 10 minutes past our tee time. Front nine was about two hours, back nine took two and a half hours. Overall a decent day.
Pinehurst Resort & Country Club - No. 5
Played On 09/06/2021Fun course; challenging but very playable.
This course was a lot of fun with wide fairways but a challenging layout. There is plenty of variety on the course with elevation changes and dog legs, and down hill par threes over water. The fairways are wide enough to make them easy enough to hit, but there are plenty of trees, pine straw and OB to collect wayward shots. Greens had been sanded recently but still quite true. They hard to judge speed and the holes repel even good putts. Maybe they will be a little easier after the sand works but I wouldn't count on it.
Pinehurst Resort & Country Club - No. 1
Played On 09/05/2021Locals say No 1 is fun
No 1 is only 6,100 yards but it's not really short for a typical player from white tees. The front is not very interesting but ends with a fun downhill par 3 over water and overall playable track. The back nine is more interesting with elevation changes and doglegs. Overall a fun course for a warm up. Probably easier than most Pinehurst courses. Between 3 and 5, five is more interesting. 1, 3 and 5 were offered at half the price of the other courses.
Stonewall Golf Club at Lake Manassas
Played On 06/06/2021Nice Course, Fun Layout
Course is fun with ots of dog legs, carries over ravines and elevation changes. Fairly generous landing reas and smooth greens. Lots of sand and challenging conditions. Nice lake views and large expensive homes.
Hi, Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Stonewall Golf Club at Lake Manassas.
Oak Brook Golf Club
Played On 10/28/2020Amazing conditions
Even with all the rain and cold the course was in great shape. Greens recovered quickly from aeration two weeks ago and are in great shape. They were rolling fast and true.
Oak Brook Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2020Course is in Great Condition
Despite the long dry spell, tees, fairways and greens were all in good shape. There was some brown in the roughs but how wouldn’t there be in the dry hot conditions we’ve had? The greens were very smooth and true. A pleasure to play. We played Monday morning when it wasn’t crowded and played in exactly 4 hours with our foursome.
Oak Brook Golf Club
Played On 06/15/2020Excellent Conditions
Everything on the course was nearly perfect. All the roughs and fairways were cut nice and tight, greens rolled fast and true. The course was in excellent condition and the 10 minute tee time restriction really helped spread out the players and helped maintain a four hour pace of play.
Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course
Played On 12/13/2019Rain Out
Rain was threatening and had the staff alerted us to the radar we might have postponed. They did warn us on the first tee of the no refund policy after 2 holes. Of course the rain started before we finished the third hole and they closed the course after we teed off on 4 after a half hour or more delay. Inside the pro shop the gave us an $90 rain check for some future time, which doesn’t do us much good because we’re not from the area and we were leaving that day. The cashier appeared to be new and said yes she was giving us a “credit” which was really a rain check. I would have taken exception with the rain check as the group next to us had just negotiated a full refund with the manager or more senior attendant. They were also saying they would probably reopen the course but had to clear out the people from the course being closed first.
The course itself seemed consistent high quality Disney with lush plantings and good conditions, although we couldn’t really evaluate since we only played 3 or 4 holes with cart path only and very wet. The front nine clearly wrapped around the Disney villas and lodging. The parking lot for the course is also shared with other Disney facilities so it’s kind of crowded and tight. It is right next to the boat crossing to the Disney Boardwalk, which could be a fun side trip after a round. The entrance to the pro shop is kind of in the back door and the club house is then through the corridor and it’s nicer on the other side. Overall, not a great experience for a wash out, and we’re left with virtually useless rain checks until maybe we go back to Orlando in a year or sometime in later if it’s not lost by then.
Followed up with Alex per his suggestion. Received very fair treatment from staff at LBV. Looking forward to going back to Orlando and playing Disney courses on a future trip to Orlando.
Thank you for your recent review of our facilities and your experience playing at Walt Disney World's Lake Buena Vista golf course.
We hope that you will play our wonderful courses again in time to come, so we can exceed your expectations upon your next visit to Orlando.
The weather during this last 10 days has been relatively unstable for central Florida at this time of the year, and with multiple back to back days of cloudy rainy weather, it is no wonder that the course is having a hard time drying out.
If you would like to further discuss what you encountered during your visit with our management staff, please feel free to reach out to our Leadership by emailing disneygolfreservations@palmergolf.com so that we can help resolve your residual concerns.

ChampionsGate Country Club
Played On 12/12/2019Not as Good as I Rememberd
Played this course a couple years ago when it first opened and was impressed with the conditions and layout, except for some long distances between some holes. This time the distance between holes seemed extraordinary on the front nine. The course weaved through home construction sites everywhere. Homes were being actively built by the 10s and 50s at a time. Homes are clearly being mass produced around the course. There was one spot the cart path crossing was blocked by a cement truck actively pouring cement. Several places it was not clear if we were still on the golf course. The course itself seemed a little torn up and not in pristine condition. Fairways were kind of roughed up. The holes were somewhat fun, but the construction and housing around the front nine was more the focus than the course itself. It is quite a tour of the local housing development. The back nine was not as spread out with most of the housing already complete there was less construction. It’s a fun layout but again not in pristine condition. The staff was readily available and helpful. The focus here is more on the housing development than the course. That may change as housing is completed, but there will still be a lot of houses that the course works it’s way around.
Disney's Magnolia Golf Course
Played On 12/11/2019Best Course of the Trip
Played Magnolia on a nice warm sunny day which helps. We were two and paired up with another friendly twosome. We were all aware of pace and played a comfortable round slightly over four hours. The layout is very playable and challenging. Magnolia has wide fairways but good length and and plenty of trees, sand traps, and water to make it challenging. The conditions are top notch throughout tees, fairways, greens and sand traps. The sand traps are really fun compared to most on other courses. The greens roll very consistently and with good speed, although they are that tricky Florida grainy grass that sometimes requires a confident stroke to hold the line. Consistent plantings around the course provide a lush environment. After 18 on Magnolia, we signed up for another 18 on Palm at the replay rate and had another enjoyable round. Palm while not as lush as Magnolia was in very good condition.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 12/11/2019Consistent Quality
I’ve played this course several times over the years. I actually meant to play International but again scheduled National thinking it was the one I wanted to play. Even so, National is a consistently fun and challenging course. The greens are very consistent and good speed. There are some wet spots on a few holes around hazards and waste areas but overall very few relative to the whole course. The layout is fun and challenging and wind is usually a factor at least on some holes. 18 is a tough par at about 600 yards into the wind. There are plenty of trees, water hazards and lots of sand to make play appropriately difficult. A Hot Deal makes this and exceptional deal, but it would be fun at full price. We went to the nearby Omni hotel and enjoyed a beverage and dinner at David’s, a busy upscale place decorated in dark mahogany, leather, and a large bar with granite and large mirrors.
Great! Thank you for visiting us at ChampionsGate Golf Club. We're glad you had a great time on our National Course and we appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for a round on our International Course soon!
Shingle Creek Golf Club
Played On 12/09/2019Not as Good as other Reviews
Other reviews gave this course consistently high ratings but we found the course average at best. The front nine plays all around the very large resort hotel. It is not like it is a view in the distance, it is right there next to all the holes and a dominant figure in the landscape. The front nine was fun to play but very hot and dry. The dominant characteristic was dry. There are very few trees or plantings on the course. The greens were smooth and playable. The tee boxes were over seeded and playable but clearly not recently mowed. The layout was somewhat challenging. On the back nine, we were playing the blue tees, supposedly about 6500 yards. However, after several holes we realized most of the the blue tee markers were placed nearer to the white tees and the course played about 3000 yds. One par 4 we actually though it was a par three. It was about 250 yards. At some point it became clear we were playing a much shorter course than presented. Overall, conditions were not at the level of other similarly price courses. Everything was mowed and neat, but nothing about the course itself would be considered high end. Several holes were fun and challenging but the overall was below expectations for a premium course. After the round, the bar and bartender were nice and the hotel was top notch. Parking was confusing as it was supposed to be complimentary valet, but given absence of attendant when we arrived it was confusing to navigate. It didn’t seem the golf course was the top priority of the resort, but the focus was more on the hotel and other amenities.
Dear u661043784,
Thank you for taking the time to share your visit with us, we are extremely happy to hear about the course conditions. Unfortunately with the amount of water on the course it does draw extra wildlife to dwell, the team does the best they can to minimize the negative impact. We hope to see you again soon, have a wonderful St. Patrick's weekend.
Best,
Jeff Ruedy
