Cardinal Creek Golf Course - South/Center
Played On 07/04/2016Good course for new or casual players
This course is not too challenging, (as long as you hit em straight), but there are lots of trees that errant shots will find. They need to put some water coolers out, or at least inform players to take water with them. Luckily we did have a bottle of water, or we would have been parched !

You'll love the scenery, but make certain you know yardages and wind direction and velocity. Lots of natural areas to carry, proper club selection is the secret to low scoring.
I've played this course several times, It's always well maintained, but pace of play during peak times is not good.
I love the fall temps, but hate losing balls in the middle of fairways, (under leaves). Was impressed this particular time of year that the fairways had been completely cleared of autumn leaves and debris.
The Woodlands Course at Whittaker
Played On 09/18/2014Beautiful Course
Gorgeous views, Ridiculously "fun" greens, large with undulations and multi levels. Wide, pristine fairways, but miss the mark and you'll pay the price with lost balls and/or tough lies in the rough.
I'm surprised they didn't have a starter or a ranger on the course the day we played. I played as a twosome. There were s-l-o-w groups in front of us. Waited and waited, until finally 2 groups let us play through, but then caught a threesome on 16. Took almost 1 hour to play 17 and 18!!!! REALLY????
I have no problem with "beginner" players, but I do have a problem with NO golf etiquette and no course monitoring.

Better stay in the fairway! You will encounter mini forests on almost every hole if your tee shots are errant.
I am a senior woman, there were maybe 2 holes that the forward tees were more than a couple yard advantage. That makes it tough to compete when you are playing with your son and husband.

This course has been through the wringer, but is definitely on the way back to it's glory days of the 70's & 80's. Bring your "A" game. lots of trees, uphill lies, downhill lies and side hill lies. I have played the Valley quite a bit and really enjoy the challenges it offers. After your round, stop in for a drink and a sandwich, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful and challenging. Be sure to bring extra golf balls; but you'll probably find as many as you lose! You'll use all your clubs here. Make sure you have gps! All kinds of holes at this course, lots of adventure. I scored 3 birdies, 4 pars & 11 "others". LOL! Play here, you won't be sorry.

Course is fun to play. Wish I'd have had a gps or a range finder. They really are lax with yardage markers. They need a ranger. We (2some) played the first 6 holes in 40 mins, then came upon a 2some & 3some who were ridiculously slow, took an hour to play last 3 holes on the front. (There were 3 holes open in front of these two groups.) We ended up playing the front again for our second nine. That was disappointing!

The only problem I have with this course is pace of play. Every time I play there; there is always one group holding up the entire side. They need a ranger to move s-l-o-w groups along. Played 7 holes in less than an hour, 11 holes took more than 3 hours. A foursome with no players in front of them...3some, 2some, 2some, 2some behind. The four groups bunched up on every hole. All 9 players finished the 4th hole on grey while the 4some played the 5th. No reason for 4 groups to be waiting on a par 4!
Regulation Eighteen at Scherwood Golf
Played On 07/04/2013Great layout
This course is somewhat challenging with lots of trees, some water and tricky ditches to maneuver. Hitting it straight and long keeps your score low
South Shore Country Club
Played On 07/02/2013Something for all abilities
I play this course quite often. It's difficult enough to be a challenge and some easier holes to help with the confidence. Fairly wide fairways, but lots and lots of trees. Water to cross and a few bunkers to stay clear of. It would be better to have more than two tee boxes to help speed up play for higher handicappers. Most of the holes there is less than 20 yards difference between them.
The Brassie Golf Club

This course is for golfers who keep the ball in the fairway! Watch out for the thick rough and heather running throughout every hole! Lots of water and bunkers, but high rewards for good shots.
Turkey Creek Golf Course
Played On 05/30/2013challenging but fair
This course is quite tight with lots of trees and the creek running throughout the course! When you get a par, or better, you definitely earned it!
Spruce Creek Country Club
Played On 12/05/2012Picturesque, course with lots of trouble!
Have played this course in the past, and was a little disappointed this time in the course conditions. There were lots of sparse areas in the fairways and the greens had been aireated and covered in fertilizer. I realize this is necessary, but feel the fees should be reduced during these maintenance phases. May choose a different course next trip.

Try to play the LPGA every time we are near Daytona. Love it!
Cypress Head Golf Club
Played On 12/03/2012Enough of a challenge for very good players and still playable for lower ability players
My husband and I have played this course several times over the last couple decades, the course conditions and the staff have always been great. The price for greens fees is reasonable by comparison to other courses in the area.
