Through the houses and the water at Hunter's Ridge

Hunter's Ridge is a very nice course through some neighborhoods, not many holes do not have houses on your left or your right.

The front nine is pretty fun and gettable, green speeds were very good but could tell it was end of season and greens had lots of ball marks. The par 5 2nd is a fun risk reward hole, probably would play it safe when all the native grass is up. The par 3 4th hole mid season would be an awesome looking hole, great green with sand in front and behind protecting the short par 3.

Back nine starts off fun but once you get to 12 and 13 and have water all along one side is not fun to me. Never a fan of water all down the side of a hole. 14-16 is an awesome stretch. With 2 great par 3s and a risk reward par 4. Closing hole is a nice finish to possibly a good round.

Course was in very solid condition considering how much rain they have not gotten in Iowa for months. Definitely wanna see it in the summer next year.

Janesville Country Club smallest greens around

Got lucky to play with a member who know everything about this place. Greens are so small sometimes it was better to be short of the green instead of actually trying to hit it on the green.

Front nine is a pretty traditional old school private course, tree lined but cut up trees, and back and forth. Very gettable if you put the ball in play good spots and know how to roll the putter.

The back 9 is where the fun starts. 11 is a boomerang par 5 where you have to plot your way around it. 13 is a short par 4 that you can risk past 1 tree or layout right to the only green that is pitched front to back. 14 is another short par 4 worth hitting driver at since the green is super difficult. 15 is a straight away par 5 with a green smaller than a ford focus. 18 is a blind tee shot into a 2 tiered green.

All in all this is a fun course that you can make low numbers or high numbers real quick in the wrong locations.

Maple Bluff can score if hit it straight

Maple Bluff is a great private golf course on the East side of Madison. Maple Bluff definitely requires some serious shot shaping skills. Very important place to put the ball in the right spot and distance off the tee. Lots of short par 4s put well guarded by bunkers and trees. They have done an excellent job trimming up trees so you have shots all the time. Greens run pretty well but with how much slope is in those greens it makes it tough get them running any faster.

The 2nd hole has an awesome view of the lake and is a great par 4. Par 3s are so well done with the framing of the trees. Par 5s are accessible but requires 2 great shots.

Maple Bluff is a really nice course just feels very tight could've been just me as there is plenty of room to maneuver around.

All in all it is a really nice private course anyone in Madison would be happy to be at.

Absolutely loved Nakoma

Nakoma was a ton of fun to play. Course conditions were wonderful. Greens rolled super true, get it on line and it had a chance to go in.

Front nine is a winds you around the outside of the property ending at the 9th hole which would be fantastic if they cut down 1 tree. Shot placement off the tee but was in the fairway and was partially blocked by a tree...Not cool.

The back nine starts with the amazing 10th hole . Great hole with a nice landing zone off the tee, great little creek that runs through it, with an outstanding green to finish it off.

Couple more trees they could take down and this place would be rocking it. Some of the best greens I putted on all year. Staff was super friendly and inviting. Some of the best ive seen for a private course. Definitely will be back. Take a junior caddie and support the Evans Scholar .

Nice course. Great Par 3s

Oshkosh CC is a very nice semi private golf course. It is a typical old school CC. Tight tree lined fairways built on a small piece of property. Greens ran pretty well for the cost of the course. Conditions again good for cost of the course. Surprised to see it so quiet on a Friday with not many other local courses in the area. Front nine is nice but the Back 9 has some awesome holes. Starting with 14 it is a great stretch all the way to a finish par 3 18th hole. Got a nice creek that runs through all the holes.

All in all Oshkosh CC is a nice course worth the money BUT do not for get to eat at TJ Steakhouse when their. It is to die for .

Wisconsin best kept secert

Pine Hills is an amazing amazing course. If you get the chance to play do not pass it up. It is a great private course with not all the fancy stuff of other courses. Just a great old fashioned golf course.

Flat lies do not exist here. Elevated greens exist everywhere here. Great greens that role so pure are Pine Hills.

Short course with great defense from the greens and surrounding green areas. A golf course that requires solid shots into greens or else they will kick or spin right off.

Has a Pinehurst/Bandon Trails type feel too it. I absolutely loved the stretch from 8-10. And then again from 17-18. Tons of elevation change great views. Great design and getting better the 18th hole looks awesome and is gonna keep getting better. I highly recommend if you get a chance.

PS 2nd best course in Sheboygan just a touch behind the Straits

Hardest/Fairest course in the US

Butler National is best describe as incredibly hard but fair golf course. Everything is right in front of you no tracks, no blind shots, no crazy stuff. You just need to hit good shot after good shot after good shot.

The rough is thick, the fairways are narrow, the greens are fast. Everything you want in a great golf course. The layout is really good. Not a whole lot of scoring holes, especially after the first 5. Long par 5s and par 4s that are hard to get to with well positioned bunkers and water off of the tee.

Really liked the stretch of holes 7-9. Especially that great par 3 8th with a very demanding tee shot.

The service and staff are out of this world good. You will be treated like royalty when you are their.

Do not forget to walk around the entire clubhouse looking at the history, its really cool.

Butler National is amazing and I feel so fortunate to have played their.

Hidden Muni Track

Oakwood is a nice track that hardly anyone even knows about. People I played with lived within 30 min and never heard of it. It isnt quite to the Washington County level for Muni's but it is pretty sold for a $30 dollar course.

Layout was nice with some rick reward holes. Some well placed bunkers off the tee that make you think and some dog legs both ways. All holes are pretty wide open besides 12. That hole is hard dog leg tucked in the woods.

Greens when they get them running are the defense. Lots of slope but run pretty true.

For a $30 course that was close and pretty good pace. We will be back.

Words can not describe PD

Prairie Dunes is a pure gem of a golf course. The attention to detail especially to the greens is breathtaking. I was fortunate to play with a national member and if your on twitter you can find a couple of them, and they love hosting people so feel free to reach out.

They course is beautifully design my Perry and Press Maxwell. I especially love all the par 3's. They are not super long just a mid iron shot but if you miss you are looking at bogey at worst. Good shorts are rewards and you have a chance to make a birdie. #10 was by far my favorite par 3 . The setting is awesome with the box dang near in the pro shop.

Its a long par 70 course so you gotta make a number on the 3s and the 5s because the 4s are tough.

The greens are best described as potato chips at least that's how they look. If you hit good putts you have a chance to make them you are not gonna get fooled on reads. 14 is a great looking hole but the high trees through the shoot come into play to much for me. The finishing stretch is a reachable par 5 17th and 18 is a great view of the property coming back towards the shop and pool.

Prairie Dunes is so warm and welcoming. This is the best private course I have played and farthest thing from stuffy you will find.

Old Mac is a great is Tom Doak master piece

I loved Old Mac alot. It is a great course to play early in the morning as the sun is rising. You get some great pictures of the Ghost Tree on hole 3.

The course is awesome and maybe the toughest walk but it doesnt appear that way looking at from Pac Dunes. Hole 3 is awesome is the ghost tree, hole 4 is a super tough hole with a difficult green but if you just dunk it from 150 out for a 2 it makes it alot easier. 5 is a short par 3 with a crazy 3 tier green. 7 is a great spot on property looking out into the Pacific.

Back nine is great too 11 is a an ode to the road hole at St A's. And 16, 17 and 18 are just a great finishing stretch where you could make birdies in the right spot or doubles if slightly out of position.

I was a big fan of old mac definitely a morning course so you can avoid the wind. Great to pair it with Bandon Trails in the afternoon.

Not by the ocean but still amazing

When your caddie says Bandon Trails is a mix of Pine Valley and Augusta National, you really pay attention to all details. Many people say Bandon Trails is the best course on property, I can totally see why. It didnt quite to it for me, I think the views of the rest of the place really set it apart for me.

Bandon Trails is amazing though, cut through the woods but the woods are never in play. They are just a beautiful back drop. The course is an outstanding conditions with some amazing views of the whole property, especially the special spot before hole 14 where Keiser was taken to see the property.

Trails is a great course to play in the afternoon because you are mostly blocked by the wind. Unless its out of the North then your all uphill into the wind on the last 4 holes.

I loved holes 5, 14, 17. Caddies said most of the odd holes are the best. Love Bandon Dunes because some could have Trails as the best or as the Worst, its all in the eye of the player.

Just get better and better

At the start of the Preserve I wasnt overly wowed, but as you get to about hole 4 and 5 it gets really good. You start get into the crazy greens where you have to used your imagination and humps and bumps to get the ball close. Hole 7 was crazy with front left pin. It was 140 yards but if you missed it rolled back 80 yards...no joke.

As you finish I highly recommend putting on hole 13. It is super fun from 100 out just whack the putter and see what happens.

I am a fan of par 3 courses that make you think and have crazy holes. This course get me from 4-13 and I really enjoyed it. Not sure $75 worth but still good.

The Orignal

Round 2 at Bandon was on the original course, Bandon Dunes. Which to me had the best hole #16, and the best stretch of 3 holes 15,16, 17. An amazing course to play in the afternoon as you finish along the coast besides whole 18.

Bandon is a great track with a terrific layout. When you try to pick your favorite course on property its nearly impossible. I loved Bandon and it was 3rd best for me.

The first couple holes I though were really difficult. Lots of uphill short holes but played very long. Once you get to hole 3 you can now breathe and start to make some birdies. 4 is a great hole with the infinity green. Then you get your picturesque holes on 5 and 6. 9 is a fun par 5 to end just avoid the pot bunkers.

Back nine is outstanding too. Like I said 15,16 and 17 are the best 3 hole stretch on property. 12 is no easy one either.

Course conditions were outstanding and puffins grill is a delicious place to eat. Love love Love Bandon.

How could you not love Pacific Dunes

Pacific Dunes was the first course my group played, and my way a treat it was. It is a great test of your entire game. Need great tee shots, solid iron play, and good putting as these were the fastest greens on property.

I loved the layout a mixture of by the ocean and a little bit in the trees. The infinity greens at the ocean are breath taking every time you see them. Come play in March when the gorse bush are a beautiful yellow color...but dont go near it every.

Holes 3,4,5 really get you going as you are right on the bluffs of the ocean. If you can get through this stretch, then you come across some scoring holes. Once you make the turn and get back to 10,11,12,13 those holes are some of the best on property. Again a challenge but if you put your ball in the right spot you can have a decent round.

As you come to the finish I suggest a layup on 16. Not worth the risk. Finally picking the correct tee boxes are huge. We had good weather so we played 1 tee box up on the front and the tips on the back nine. In hindsight should've just stuck with the green box. Sea level is a real thing.

Highly suggest Pacific Dunes as a morning round. Love love love this resort.

Best putting course in America

The Punchbowl is a must do at Bandon. The green is so big that their is 2 18 hole courses and you don't cross or get in other peoples way. No tee times, its free, and their is a adult bev truck right next to the green.

This is a super fun way to relax kick back and have some fun at Bandon.

Only thing I wouldve like was a scorecard...but I may have missed it.

Shorty's great way to ease into Bandon

Talk about a great business model. Have a 9 hole par 3 course that is free for people to enjoy as they get to Bandon.

A must if you arrive a day early to Bandon. Hit the range and putting green to get acclimated to Oregon, then go play this great little short course without out a hole over 145. Helps you really get the feel for the different types of shots you need at Bandon.

The greens are crazy exactly the same as the other courses with crazy humps and bumps.

Olympia Fields that place is HUGE

It was an honor to be able to accept an invitational to play the North course at Olympia Fields. The property is huge and everything about it is done right. The drive range is great. The locker room is insane and they make sure you put a nice card on your locker with your name on it. I couldn't have been more pleased with that part of the experience.

Golf course was in great shape also. I can totally see how they host big events like US open or BMW. The property is is huge and they can make that rough as thick as they need too. Luckily it wasn't crazy for us.
Accuracy is a most. If your not straight you are hitting punch shots all the time. Which I did!!

I really loved the stretch of holes from 12-16. With hole 14 being my favorite. Although it is BRUTALLY tough it is very picturesque and well designed but so so hard.'

My only gripe about the course is I felt it didn't receive balls very well. Lots of pitch shots or knock down shots from the fairway would skid all the way to the back. Not what you expect from a top notch course. The greens were rollin really good well though.

All in all great experience. If you get the chance dont pass it up.

Good option but bring lots of balls

Grande Dunes was a nice track with a cool layout. I played the day after a couple inches of rain so course was very wet. Green speeds were down but were in great shape along with the fairways.

This course has lots of water and lots of White stake OB so make sure you bring some balls. Great gps to help you along way. I was a big fan of holes 4-7. And then a big fan of 15-18 beautiful scenery. Thought you would see a little bit more of the intercoastal waterway but oh well. Good option to play but thought the price was a bit high. Overall good experience.

Nothing better in Myrtle Beach

I was fortunate enough to secure a tee time with the Head Pro. He was outstanding to work with and incredibly helpful switching tee time due to weather. Not many places get rave rave review but this place should. Everything about it was perfect from the layout, to the conditions, to the members who were so nice.

The layout is great lots of variety in holes and twist and turns but not where you get penalized. The conditions were amazing maybe the BEST greens i have ever played. Very Pinehurst like. I also am huge fan of trees off of the fairway but everything cut up. So you are in trouble but your not dead and losing balls.

Couple of nice views of the ocean around 8,9,10. Back nine I though was a bit tougher little more shot shaping. A course where a range finder or yardage book is a must...I had neither.

I absolutely love the The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. IF your their its a must play.

Golf in its most fun form

Loved the chance to play Indian Creek with some locals. To me its everything you want from your local course when your not out playing the big dog courses.

It is a nice easy walk, with some guys playing some great tunes, and a course where if you put the ball in the or near the fairway you got a chance to make some birdies on this par 68 course. It is 9 hole course with 2 sets of tee boxes so you play the front box on the front nine and back box on the back nine.

The greens here are like postage stamps which to me is a great thing cause it makes you a better player. Does take a bit do understand how to play the course. Definitely a land it short and let it bounce and roll to the hole. Flying it all the way to the hole is a recipe for disaster.

Highly recommend if your in the area for a low stress, high fun type of golf course, that is cheap.

Don't miss out.
