About

I am a lefty with a Furyk type of swing that loves the game and thrives to really try and improve. I enjoy the home course I play at Hawks View Golf Course, but i really enjoy getting out and experiencing other courses.

Nothing can top this place.

This place words can hardly describe. I have played great courses like Bethpage Black and Erin Hills and this place takes the cake. The conditions were top notch the service was amazing and the sites are breath taking. We got in what they call the Kohler fall challenge so you get to play both the Straits and the River in a Best Ball format. Those 7 or so holes that run along Lake an so cool they look like they are floating out there. The other 11 are terrifically designed. There isnt a bad or even average hole on this course. A plus plus in my book. A bucket list course for sure.

Nice place to be a member.

The course is nice course with good condition tiny greens. This would be a great place to be a member and live right next too, but not a place to come from far away to play. Nice kinda semi private place with good holes that will challenge your accuracy. Pro shop and bar are not much to talk about. Again be great to be a member but not worth driving too to play.

Not good when your down wind from a dump.

Got a great deal on golf now and had really been wanting to play here for a while, and I am somewhat happy I did. Start with the Goods

Pull up to the first tee and the course looks great and it is. Fairways are nice greens are great. Got good speed and very receptive to spin both on chips and shots from the fairway.
The course itself is a pretty cool layup lots of character. Holes kinda run next to each other but they do a great job of making it seem like they dont.

Now for the not so good.
Front 9 I thought was very spot golf never should have taken driver out of bag just hit a 4 iron out there and your in great shape every time.

Fescue grass was somewhat thin but very matted down making it hard to find balls. If you have fescue you should be able to find your ball and the penalty is trying to hit it out. EX: Played Erin Hills hit in a 4some none lost a ball all day but didnt shoot well cause of the fescue.

Club house is average saw no bev cart girl. And oh boy if the wind is right your small the dump ALOT on this course. Plus they had charging spots in the cart for your phone. SO cool.

This is definitely still a nice course just a couple adjustments and this place could be really cool.

Diamond in the Rough

What a treat it was to play this course. This course is a gotta be the top 1 or 2 public course in Iowa. The course was in amazing shape especially with all the rain they have had lately. Greens were in perfect shape, soft but fast. Fairways were great and the rough was thick. Front nice is really nice layout couple blind tee shots. Once you get to the back it is really a treat. Par 11th 500 yards and goes straight UP HILL. From there on its up and downhill with some great views. Each side has a drive able par 4 risk reward style. I really enjoy that in a course. I was very impressed with everything expect for the entrance, things are a bit confusing and the pro shop is hidden. Beside that this place is top notch. Definitely a must play,.

Just as good if not better than the Links

Buddy and I played both on one day. Woodlands were our 2nd 18 and it left a great taste in our mouth. Course is well designed and cuts nicely through the woods. Its also great to go to courses where both golf courses are exactly the same in green speed, fairways and rough length. Par 3rd is a really cool hole. Love playing par 3s that dont have to be long but are still challenging. This course and the whole complex does a great job of having great golf at a good price and its not hoity toity. Its a nice relaxing place with great golf. Well done.

Big mounds and Undulating Greens WOW!!

Buddy and I played 36 at Lawsonia. First 18 was on the Links and it lived up to alot of expectations. For the 85th public course I was pretty impressed. Greens were that perfect condition that you expect when you go to a top 100 course. They really pride themselves on the undulating greens and the big mounds. I had one lie at the base of the mound and the mound was probably 8 feet high. Green side bunkers you better be able to get the ball up in the air quickly. They do a nice job as a links course of providing you those great view of most of the property. Is this a top 100 public course...I am not sure but it is definitely right up and one you need to cross off the bucket list.

Never played a course where you hear silence

This place is something else. Take a min in the middle of the round and just listen, you will hear nothing other then a golfer here there. This is place is so big and off the beaten path that its just you and the golf course its awesome. The course itself is wonderful generous fairways but if you miss get ready for the knee high stuff. Greens are top notch very receptive to spin but lightening fast. The 9th hole is awesome so hard luckily the wind wasnt to bad. 14 is a great par 5 up the hill to a crazy slopping green, then you go to 15 which is a great risk reward par 4. Then that finish on 18 is amazing bunkers placed perfectly in landing zones its a brute of a finisher. We were fortunate to play with Rick Tock and a golf digest course we reviewer needless to say we heard some good stories. Clubhouse is top notch, service is terrific. Definitely recommend this to people that want to play a great challenging golf course. Well done Erin Hills!!!

Great resort course to go play and not worry about anything

Played the national part of a buddies trip up to the resort. Its a great deal for 3 nights stay with unlimited golf plus free breakfasts. The national is a really nice links style course. Greens and fairways are in great shape. Lot of cool holes that have some risk and reward with them. Definitely a place I would go back to, to be able to play golf and relax and not worry about anyone else around you. The other courses their are average but again for the price and deal they are perfect.

Good outing course

Played this course in a golf outing and it sets up pretty nice for that expect the getting out to the holes was a little backwards (took way to long). Course I thought was in very good shape for your average 3 star type of Wisconsin course. Greens and fairways were in good shape. Also I believe the course is set up for players to score well of playing by yourself. They have a a pretty nice bar on the inside. Nice both that'd I'd recommend for a place to play of you just want a nice relaxing day at the course.

Wow is all I can say about The River course

The river is fantastic. Definitely deserving of one of the top 20 courses in the country. With so many holes cut along the sheboygan river it makes for great sites on 3/4th of the holes. The front side plays a bit tougher as it is a par 37. The back is no slouch, it may be a par 35 but wit par 3 like #10 and # 14 where you have to fly the ball over the river and around trees it is nowhere near easy. The finishing hole is awesome with the giant club house in the back. Had lunch after which was delicious with terrific service. This is a place you must visit.

Strawberry Creek what a treat to play.

I was fortunate enough to play with a buddy who knew a member as this is a private club. From the moment you get their you are wowed by how nice this place is. The squared off tee boxes, the tight fairways, the thick rough, perfect sand, and amazing smooth and fast greens. The views are terrific and the course is in such a great setting through the homes of Strawberry Creek. A must play whenever you get a chance. I hope I get another soon.

Well worth it when you find a special price

Played Morning star early on a Friday morning. We got a special price (not sure if I would pay rack rate to play here). We moved through the course fairly easily. Course was in pretty good shape, the greens were in below average condition. They were very beat up and lots of old ball marks. Besides that this was a really nice course. Great views from the top of #7 and #18. I would recommend this course to lots people, if you can get a tee time...they only take them 2 weeks in advance for the public...WEIRD.

Nice place in a hidden area.

Me and buddy got a nice deal to play Maplecrest country club through golf now. The course is pretty old school. Very straight and tall trees. Not much definition between fairway and rough. The course was in pretty good shape considering the price. Greens were in good shape, a little slow but in good condition. If your in the area and want a nice relaxing round with out anyone bothering you this is a good place.

Wow what a course

Making the trek from Wisconsin out to here was definitely a drive but it was totally worth it. This course was one of the best manicured courses I have ever played right up their with Erin Hills and Beth page Black. From the driving range to the greens the course is in amazing shape. The Front plays pretty fair and you can score if you play the appropriate tees. The Back nine is tough but great the layout is amazing, not a bad hole out there and once you get to those final 3 you will be very impressed. #17 Great par 3 with a green surrounded by water and bunkers. Then the horse shoe par 5 around the lake is a great finishing hole. A course I would recommend to everyone. Only downfall to me was restaurant it seems like they don't get a lot of service in there so they do not have much ex: a soda gun or beer on tap?? But our waitress Jules was terrific. Great course that everyone should try an play.

Great Gem of Lake Geneva

Abbey Springs always seems to please. The course was in very good shape, only down fall was the greens were very firm which made normal iron shots in the greens hardly ever stop. Greens were fast rough was challenging but fair. The course is tight but not target golf you just have to hit it well off the tee and you can be in position to have a good score. The view from the 12th and the 17th are awesome. You get a great view of the famous Lake Geneva. This is a must play if coming to the Lake Geneva area it does not disappoint.

Glad to do the first review

A buddy and I found this course just outside of rockford. For the value the course was in really good shape (37 bucks w/cart on weekend). The clubhouse is outdated but there prices are not typical golf course prices much cheaper like drinks and balls, so that was a plus. The course is short and wide open but kept in good shape. Fairways were in really good shape along with the greens been in good shape considering all the recent rain. 8th hole was coolest it was a 195 par 3 tucked in the wood. A very good and scenic hole. Pace of play for the first 9 then it just got brutal. Super super slow, we saw a ranger driving around but he was there just for show. Bev cart girl would only stop by you if you flagged her down which was a pain. This experience playing was great but the services provided for the course were not. Improve those and this is a great value course.

Great course when you find a good deal.

Played the brute today. Course is cool with its huge greens and huge bunkers. Stuff you are not used to seeing. Staff is very friendly and inviting, and driving range is very nice also. Tee to green course was a in very good shape they have taken out some trees on some holes especially #2 which has made things a little better more golfer friendly. Greens were slow and a little fuzzy. The highlands seem to be fast all the time and the brute always seem to be slow, doesnt make much sense. Wish they kept them the same. The sand is too soft as always and they have really raised their prices on bev cart (buy at the bar its cheaper). Course is very nice but for the regular price save your money way better courses to play for a better price.

Great Lake Geneva Course

Como crossings at hawksview golf club is a terrific course. You're a welcomed by a amazingly friendly staff from the moment you get there. The course is in fantastic shape (best greens for speed and roll in lake geneva in my opinion). The course o
plays very fair if you find the fairway or short rough. If you get a little sideways the fescue rough is penalizing. You finish up with an amazing view from #17 tee box (make sure to go up to the black tees for thr best view). To me this course is somewhere in the top 3 courses in LG along with the player course and abbey springs. A must for any avid golfer.

The Bog

A friend and I played The Bog on a Wednesday mid morning. Service was good and the staff friendly. The driving range is terrific with lots of options to hit to and lots of space. The course was in great shape and quite difficult if you are not accurate off the tee (which I was not the first 5 holes). The greens were in great shape and rolled true. I know it is not ideal to be in the bunkers but if you do it is some of the best sand id ever play out of. This is a very nice course especially for the price, definitely a place you want to play. Just a step below your top end Wisconsin courses.

Dont be fooled by it being a "par 3" it is awesome.

This course is top notch. I have never played a par 3 anywhere near the shape this course is in. Greens are perfect and fast. The course will require you to bring more than a normal par 3 course. I suggest wedge all the way to 3 wood ( #16 is 227 and plays longer). This is a great family course or a great course to go play with buddies since there lots of "gaming" possibilities. If the LG area and need to get a quick round in this is the place get around on a cart in under 2 hrs and walking prolly takes about 2 and a half. Dont forgot to play como crossings at hawksview top course in Lake Geneva. And home to a to die for fish fry.
