Played On 12/11/2021nice course, but the greens...
The course was in good condition, however the greens were not green, kind of grey and full of weird bumps and track marks from mowing equipment. That was disappointing.
They were fast but not true, and that is a bad combination. Not sure what happened to them,
they were much better 3 weeks ago, even though they were just coming out of overseed and fuzzy.
The Links Golf Club At Queen Creek
Played On 10/28/2020opened too early
This course opened from over-seed too early.
The staff said they knew the course was not in the best shape but it needed more water.
What it really needs is more seed and time.
The method they used to lay the seed resulted in rows of grass not a uniform distribution of seed. Plus tons of bare spots in the fairways. Re-seed the course using a broadcast spreader and wait at least another two weeks to open.
This is a fun course when it's maintained properly.
Also the greens were way too thin, with bumps and depressions. It was like putting on sand greens.
Avoid this course until you see better reviews.
San Tan Highlands
Played On 12/06/2019No services
Well, I didn't think it could get worse at JR, but it has as far as services are concerned,
1st let me say that this is a fun course, especially the mountain side and it's in pretty good shape.
and the employees and volunteers are pleasant.
But... now they have cut back even further on service.
Get this...it's desert course with no water on the course, no ball washers on the course or carts, no GPS, no range balls included ( both used to be offered at the same price ) and now,
NO BEVERAGE CART. What a joke. The owners are making so much money, I guess they feel that they can keep cutting services and not lose players.
Please sell this course to an owner who cares about golfers and not just making $.
I will, however continue to play from time to time, but I would advise everyone to load your golf bag up with beverages, there is a cooler on the carts...for now. lol
San Tan Highlands
Played On 03/03/2019Marshall is wothless
group in front was 1 hole behind after 2 holes.
they were playing from the blacks and blues.
They barely were able to hit the fairways.
told the marshal about slow play and these guys playing from tees that were beyond their skill level.
he never talked to them. We were not able to finish our round and has to quit after 15 holes.
JR needs to close off the black tees on weekends.
Thanks for the 3-star review and taking the time to share your feedback with us, however, we're sorry to hear that your recent round may have been affected by other players on the course. We can assure you our staff work very hard to regulate the pace of play daily, but we apologize for any inconvenience on the day you played. We hope you were still able to enjoy your round with us and that we can welcome you back to The Golf Club at Johnson Ranch for a much-improved one soon.
San Tan Highlands
Played On 01/25/2019frost delay 1.5 hours, did not play
had a 3pm tee time.
they were 1.5 hours behind schedule so we did not get on since we could not complete 9 holes.
Staff cancelled our tee times, but could not get refunded the Golf Now booking fee,
Pro shop staff gave us a free medium ball token.
Not their fault, but seems this course delays play more than most courses in the area.
We appreciate you leaving us a review, however, we're truly sorry to see that your recent round with us may not have met expectations. We would appreciate any additional feedback on your experience so we may share it with staff for potential improvements, and we hope we can bring you back for a better one soon.
San Tan Highlands
Played On 01/13/2019Very Accommodating
We had booked 2 tee times.
12:30 and 12:45
One of the 12:45 players was late getting in from the airport and Joan, the Sunday afternoon starter was so nice in letting us push our tee time back while we waited for him to arrive. We ended up playing at 1:20pm. We did get stuck behind a foursome that were playing from the black tees.
Believe me, they should have moved up to the blues at least. They were a hole behind or more most of the round. They could barely make it to the fairways from the black tee boxes. One of the foursome could play the blacks but the others.. wow, bad news. The ranger should have advised them to play within their skill level.
Other than that. it was great, and we made it in before dark.
Thanks for the 4-star review! We hope you enjoyed your recent round at The Golf Club at Johnson Ranch and look forward to seeing you again soon.
San Tan Highlands
Played On 09/13/2018Summer conditions
good shape considering it's end of summer golf here. The greens had been recently punched so they were not good. Take a two put maximum and move on..
We were the only people on the course at 1:30pm
it was warm 103, most folks play in the morning.
Better conditions at this time vs last year same time, overseed coming in two weeks.
San Tan Highlands
Played On 05/14/2018worst than most
This course is being mismanaged by the superintendent. The grass is cut to low to allow it to grow and most likely not enough water too.
Tons of bare spots that have been aerated but not over seeded, no chance these areas are going to grow!
Just played Las Colinas. Lush fairways and great greens. Johnson Ranch management should visit Las Colinas to see how a golf course is maintained. Also, the restaurant closed at 4pm. Plus, no drinking water on the course and the bar cart was nowhere to be seen. 95 degrees that day and no water!
At $20 per round I guess you get what you pay for.
Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
Played On 04/20/2018over crowded
Had to wait for a cart for our 12:25 tee time.
The staff was pleasant but confused about how to handle the crush of players. Heard they booked 360 rounds that day from an employee!!!
5 plus hours for our round, never saw a marshal except at the start. He was good.
played here twice before. Never this over booked.
The Links Golf Club At Queen Creek
Played On 03/28/2018Fun but a little costly
The price was a little high for this course.
We played in under 4 hours, but as we finished on the 18th green and were shaking hands the player assistant asked us to move off the green. That was a bad way to end the day. Were ahead of pace and not holding up play.
Las Colinas Golf Club
Played On 12/29/2017Getting Better
The fairways are in good shape, better than most in the area. The greens are getting better, they were a little thin but seem to be filling in and rolling good. Great staff in the pro shop and on the course. We played 18 in less than 4 hours
Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
Played On 09/14/2016Better players only
This course is tough. Elevated greens with lots of slope, Rolling tight fairways make this course a better player course only. Our threesome played today we are an 11 16 and 18 handicap group and we shot 93 98 and 105. We got a great rate and I imagine that this course does not get much play due to to the difficult set up. I don't see how members can enjoy this on a daily basis unless they are all single digit handicappers.
The course was in great shape, the greenside bunkers had plenty of sand but holding the elevated greens, which were firm and fast could only be done with a high soft landing shot, many greens in regulation were lost to shots rolling off the greens and into DEEP bunkers or down embankments.
Poston Butte Golf Club
Played On 01/30/2016Great Place to play
Wonderful course. Lush and green. Fairways is in excellent shape.
The greens have been colored but did not seem to effect the putting.
Fast with lots of slope. Shots that land near the edge roll off and into the bunkers which are very deep. This is not a course for high handicappers. It's long and unforgiving, but a blast to play if you are a bogey player or better. Friendly staff very professional. Wish all courses were this way. Saw the bar cart 4 time. Our 3 some played 18 in 3hr 45 min. Never had to wait, never had any pressure behind us, never saw a ranger.
San Tan Highlands
Played On 11/01/2015Great Place to play
We have played here a few times. The course is 2 weeks into over seeding so the greens are very slow, but that should be expected. The fairway were in great condition.
the staff was excellent at check in and check out. They even cleaned our clubs before they were unloaded off the cart.
The food service was poor. Sat in the terrace grill outside for 10 minutes and never saw a server. Left after that for some chinese food at Bobo's across the street. The pace of play was a little slow but it was a Sunday and were we not in a hurry anyway. Enjoyed the couple that we we paired up with. FYI 4 1/2 hours to play 18. I would recommend this course. I know that this place gets a bad rap sometimes regarding the staff. I would remind everyone that if you are nice to others they will respond in kind.
Hi Meadowlarkhayes. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting The Golf Club at Johnson Ranch. We hope to see you again in the future.
