Crown Park Golf Course
Played On 03/23/2023Snail paced
First, I thought the layout had potential and should have played it from the blue cheese rather than the white. At the white tees three of the four par fives were well under 500 yards. I hit two sixes and a 7-iron for my second shots. Like a lot of courses there they don't overseed so there's not much to stop a ball in the rough and the greens are pretty much inconsistent. I would like to see them change grasses on the greens and overseed the rough. Fairways were thin but okay. Overall I thought the course was too firm and it could benefit from loosening the turf. Sand traps were in pretty good shape except that nobody seemed to know what a rake was for. Pace of play was abysmal. Our round was 5 hours long and I believe some people stopped playing early or it might have gone to six. As the front nine took 3 hours. Given the caliber of play that I saw on the course I think their tee times are too close together.
Panther's Run at Ocean Ridge Plantation
Played On 03/21/2023Disappointed
Course was in poor condition, especially the greens which i would call un put table. Area of no grass. Tufts of what I would guess was rye popping up all over the dormant Bermuda greens. Ground fairly hard even with recent rains. Distance on cards and hole plaques didn't always correspond with reality. Not the first time I've played here and the same issues of maintenance. Won't be back

Course was in terrible shape and slow play a real problem. Traps not raked. Greens had bare spots. Sod that had been laid down a year or two ago was still laying on top of traps in the shape of a square. This could be a decent course but it has become a mess. Some of the grouois so hard no grass will grow on it. Very disappointed.

I've played here half a dozen times over the years but not for several years. We played in March so conditions were less than prime. Some sand on the greens. Rough dormant. Tall oaks and cypress swamps make this an eye pleasing play. I'm 68 and played the white tees which were fine. My wife played the reds. Be careful as there is a tendency at Myrtle to sneak the blocks forward to speed up play. Several times she went back to the golf tees which is where the women's should have been. Greens are mounded somewhat and an errant shot on the edge will roll off. Rarely is there a bunker to carry to a flag but the front corner bunkers wrap toward the front and with the green a bit elevated, you aren't going to run much on, especially in spring. Driving areas pretty generous and i didn't always hit driver. There was some natural, almost dune type bunkering which i didn't recall seeing before. I thought it was a good addition. At least 6 tees going all the way to 8400 yds. A few hidden ponds. Overall an enjoyable round.

We played 2 week days the 3rd week of Oct on a very discounted golf now deal. Great pace. I played the blue tees at 6400 yds which often required me to carry a waste area. Wind was different each day and is a factor. Nice challenging layout. Course was in great shape although people could be better about fixing ball marks. Had same issue at Kilmarlic. I thought fairways were pretty generous. Deep green side traps. Ball settles down in rough so keep your eyes on it. Green speed fairly fast and consistent.

This course requires several rounds before you would know what the do. For example, I had no idea what to hit off the first tee. It said I had 240 yards. I hit a soft drive and was 30 yds long, in rough, severely downhill lie to and uphill green. Traps were a mess. Waited on every shot on a weekday. Too much is just blind.
Nice layout
Course in good shape. Variety to the layout with some elevation changes. Risk/reward options on some Par 5s. Some blind shots so it was good I was playing with a local. I booked it on golf now at half the advertised rate of 119 which would be too high for the course. Not advertised lot of houses on the course which was nice. Just under 4 hours.

Played On 03/13/2018Have played this course several times. Good layout.it is all warm weather grass so in mid march it is in poor condition. Many areas in the rough are bare of grass with pine roots invasive in playing areas. All grass was dormant. I won't play it again unless may or after.
Great! We're glad that you enjoyed our course and the challenge it presented. We're also pleased that our course conditions met your expectations. We hope to have you back again soon for your next round with us!
