Concordia Golf Club
Played On 08/24/2019Another one bites the dust
Poor course conditions on a lay out that was picturesque, but the course appears to be in permanent GUR. Pace of play was atrocious with players picking up our balls and others not teeing off when the group in front already reached the green. Without a marshal or on course amenities, I would not recommend anyone to play here especially if you need a quick round in.
Livingston Country Club
Played On 06/09/2019Always great albeit difficult course to play
Best fast greens in the county and challenging layout, friendly staff and great on course restaurant. Always great experience regardless of the scores.
Mercer Oaks Golf Course - East Course
Played On 05/30/2015Above average course provided below average experience.
The facilities at Mercer Oaks appears new, the staff were not the most friendly, they don't try to hide it either. We were paired with two other players without prior notice, while the course was wide open. The rate we were able to get from golf now I supposed was their discounted rate, given the discounted conditions we experienced. Inconsistent speed of greens, they were not rolled or cut after a recent rain it appears. Overall the course has great potential for a semi challenging experience, however due to the overall condition of the course, the challenge was presented in the form of bad greens keeping. I will hesitant to recommend others for this course despite the stellar rating it has received among other top NJ courses.
Ravenwood Golf Course
Played On 10/20/2014Much Improved.
Ravenwood is one of the top public courses in all of western new york, it has been the measuring stick for other courses as far as course management and overall facilities and equipment is concerned with always top notch service. However this past season they were hit hard with the winter weather and did serious damage to the greens. As such the greens were unpredictable and difficult to navigate on an already tough to play course. Much of the summer season we have avoided returning to the course after a couple of outings. Now that the season is nearing an end, the condition is at the best it has ever been, it shows the staff have been working hard at it, I certainly hope that the next coming season it would remain the same.
Wild Wood Country Club
Played On 09/21/2014Challenging
What to say about wild wood that a round played wouldn't say for itself.
The course is always well kept, very dedicated staff with a very healthy member base.
Playing here is always a journey, an adventure and certainly down right painful at times. It is a testament to the game itself that only through perseverance and practice will success prevail.
The picturesque course has hidden daggers for the uninitiated, the front is open and straightforward, however it is the back 9 that's filled with risk reward situations.
Challenging is the motto and the course demands respect. Think you've figured this game out, play here once and you will find out.
Salmon Creek Country Club
Played On 09/20/2014For duffers only
Three out of five times we've been here there has been a tournament that was not mentioned to us. The staff was real smug about us having to ask when they intentionally book tee times for unplayable conditions.
I used to love this course the staff and the lack of pace of play etiquette notwithstanding. the ranger is more concerned with finding balls for these beginner golfers than moving them along.
Simply put, play only if you enjoy 6+ hour rounds, like to be talked down to and enjoy having arguments with players never played golf in their life about pace of play.
Morgan's Crossing
Played On 07/29/2014Soaked
We took advantage of a good priced round, however due to the storm the course was soaked, drainage is poor around many fairways. The main complaint is not weather related however, the tee boxes are uneven back to front and side to side, it's often difficult to find level ground to tee off.
