Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 07/17/2017Great value, good course for novices to intermediates
This course is shorter than many of the other courses in the area, but still provides a good experience. By no means an executive course, it offers some tough holes and some forgiving ones. Accuracy is rewarded, and absolutely required in a couple of cases. Great prices for 18 holes with a cart can be found, making this a great value. Course is mostly flat, so walking should not be a challenge if you desire. Worth trying.
Salinas Fairways Golf Course
Played On 07/14/2017Good municipal course
This course is a very good municipal course. Yes, you get views of the ocean and beautiful homes just a few miles west, but this is a course that is in good shape, not too long or short (several sets of tees), and a good bet for all levels of player. The course gets close to the airstrip, and is not as scenic right there, but that's only for a few holes. We rode, but it would be easy to walk, with few hills. Prices are way less than they are just west of here. This course is worth a visit.
Laguna Seca Golf Club
Played On 07/02/2015Picturesque location and great layouto
Course can be challenging at times with many blind greens from the tee. Bad shots can be overcome on many holes, but can be costly on others - no real hidden trouble (unless you are a heavy hitter, then watch the water on 15), so you can see what you're dealing with. Lots of bunkers, so practice your sand shots. Lots of fun and will play again.

Beautiful day, friendly and helpful staff, and good pace of play made this a very pleasant day on the course. Course has been wet from recent rain, so no carts were allowed, but walking was fine. Some areas of the course have suffered a bit from the rain, but overall, the course is in good condition, with healthy grass in the fairways and near rough. This course is always fun, and who can argue with golf on a sunny day in the 60s in December.
Pajaro Valley Golf Club
Played On 11/28/2014Challenging but playable for high handicappers
Nice course in pretty good condition. Small greens are well protected by bunkers. Fairways are reasonably wide but trees can cause some problems on mishits. Some holes present significant elevation changes. We all felt it was a fun course to play.
We were disappointed that a fivesome was allowed to play right in front of us, which led to very slow play as that group had no desire to speed up play even though we were waiting for them at every tee box. I will be reluctant to play there again knowing that management allows this on busy days.
However, overall it was a fun, but slow, outing.
West at Rancho Canada Golf Club
Played On 05/25/2014Good course for average golfers
This is a fun course in a beautiful setting, The recent drought conditions have taken much of the water (from the Carmel River) out of the picture, but there is enough trouble to make the round interesting, and the course is forgiving enough for average golfers. Very good value.
