Basin Harbor Club
Played On 07/29/2017Course Conditions are Back to TopShelf !!!!
New Superintendent has transformed the course in last 2.5 years.
If you haven't played recently, you are missing out.
Greens enlarged to original design, sprinkler system upgraded to single head control, drainage improvements translate to dry fast greens, trees removed to promote grass growth, fairways, rough, and aprons are perfect, and greens rolling super smooth/consistent. Add some natural areas on #2, #3, #6, #8, and #9 off tee boxes and you have private course conditions at resort course availability/pricing
Select tees carefully as natural areas force carrys on a few front nine tees. As always, back nine is long from blue tees (3469 yds).....don't be afraid to move up a set of tees for a more pleasant experience.
Head Professional Will Benton and staff are very friendly and accommodating.
After a few years of course in wrong direction, fear not it is revived
Half Moon Bay Golf Links - Old Course
Played On 08/08/2014Views Better than Overall Experience; Too Many Players on Course & Pace was Too Slow; No Rangers on Course
Incredible location and a very, very good design. Course conditions were excellent given drought and overloaded play on day I chose to play Ocean course. Poa greens get tired later in the day (footprints).
Expected for the price a higher end experience ....10-15 min tee times.... not every 8 min. Place was packed so felt like a golf factory at times.
Pro shop and restaurant were dirty and loud. Again overcrowded. No driving range!!!!! Really? trying to sell as 5-star w/o a place to warm-up?
Many well dressed, well equipped and truely awful golfers on the course slowed play dramatically. No ranger to move folks along. Not a place for beginner golfers.
West Bolton Golf Club
Played On 08/22/2013Bottom Tier in Vermont - Poorly designed/built green complexes
Definitely a bottom tier public track in Vermont. I've played them all and no reason to play here unless company outing or a beginning golfer.
Green complexes are tiny, unreceptive to properly struck wedges into greens (too much compacted clay and stones). Cheesy layout, many unremarkable holes....just not great native land for a golf course w/o millions in design/drainage. Few bunkers and little challenge inherent in layout. Very short course with low slope/rating.
Drive over to CCV, Stowe CC, Sugarbush, Country Club of Barre, or in Chittenden county, play Kwinaska, Williston, or even Rocky Ridge before this place.
