Tanglewood Golf Club - Reynolds Course
Played On 04/21/2020Challenging, Fun, Great Value
Overall GREAT course. I played here on a hot deal for $15, and the max this course charges is $27 during the week and $33 on the weekends. In my opinion, great pricing for a course like this. I can't wait to go back in a few more weeks as it gets warmer and there is a little more rain to green up the course.
-- Tee boxes were in good shape, fairways a little brown is places but in good shape, and for my round many of the greens were a bit on the sandy side so they moved fast, but they were good overall. -- The greens are undulating, which makes them challenging although slightly easier to read in my opinion. -- Some airways are fairly tight so not as forgiving as some may need. -- Bunkers often protect the greens, so watch out here, you may get more practice in the sand than you like. -- Last, this golf club is in a state park so there was a $2 fee to get on site with the car, but if only $2 per car keeps up this beautiful park, who cares? Bring cash for that reason, and don't forget to tip the golf cart guys too!

Oak Hollow Golf Course
Played On 04/07/2020MUST Play Course!
My first time playing here, Oak Hollow is easily in my top 2 favorite courses and I have already booked my next tee time. This is a great find, and for me, worth driving an hour to get to the course.
1. Course layout challenging from the white tees, so I suspect very challenging from the back tees. The holes are fun and have a wonderfully varied terrain from hole to hole, strategically placed bunkers and hazards, yet the fairways are moderately wide so can be forgiving.
2. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and greens all very well kept. They did punch the greens what looked to be 2 or 3 weeks ago but they are in great shape. You can tell this course cares about its product.
3. The beauty of the course is spot on as you come on and off the lake, and with the leaves back on the trees even the couple times the holes run somewhat parallel it did not seem to be that way. I love the holes that run along the lake.
The 500 Club
Played On 03/02/2020Great Course, Construction Sucks
Overall a fun course to play. The course conditions and greens were in good shape given the time of year, and I look forward to playing here again in the summer.
The bad thing about this course is a developer purchased the course and the surrounding land, so housing is being built and it takes away from the serenity of golf (for those of us out there to enjoy quiet). If it weren't for the construction, I would definitely play again sooner and more often.
Salem Glen Country Club
Played On 08/04/2019Great course; improve greens.
Overall I think is is a great course. Here are my points.
1. Tee boxes were what you expect them to be.
2. Fairways were in AMAZING shape, well maintained, perfectly cut, probably my favorite thing about the course.
3. The majority of the greens were not great. It looks almost as if a chemical was used and burned them a bit. They also looked recently punched, probably 3 weeks or so. The lawn crew was out watering them in between golfers, so we know they care and want this remedied.
4. Other than the greens, my only other complaint is regarding the layout; more parallel fairways than I personally care for.
