Green at Tunxis Country Club
Played On 05/18/2020Tunxis Plantation Green Course
This course never disappoints. The grounds are always well kept, and the staff is friendly and cordial. The practice green is large and true to the pace of greens on the course. The carts are well-maintained and cleaned after each round. Tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers make for challenging tee shots. The rough can get thick, sometimes making it difficult to find an errant shot. The greens are large targets with just enough undulation to remain "fair." Water is present on the course, but if you can put strategy over pride, it shouldn't affect you at all. With 3 challenging courses to choose from, Tunxis lives up to its reputation.
Jones at Lyman Orchards Golf Club
Played On 10/08/2019Fall golf in New England
Played after a rainy night and course was wet, but well kept and in fine condition. Fairways and greens were "strong." (Not sloppy) Tee boxes were some of the best I've seen all year. Greens were challenging with aggressive undulations. The yardage card provided free with scorecard is a huge bonus! Water provided on multiple holes. The greens-keepers were courteous to players coming through. Great deal for 18 & cart. Highly recommended.
Topstone Golf Course

Course is beautifully maintained, fun, and fair with wider, tree-lined fairways and mildly sloping greens. There were some sloping and hilly fairways, but it was definitely a course that makes you feel relaxed over each shot. The starter was very friendly and accomodating. The food was above average, and the staff friendly. The one drawback was the many bunker placements directly in front of greens. Though this dies not affect the overall quality of the course.
Simsbury Farms Golf Club
Played On 06/30/2015Great Course
(Delayed entry)My friend raved about this course, and now I know why. This was a fun and fair test. The course is forgiving and the greens rolled true. The town of Simsbury does an excellent job of maintaining the course, and the food at the turn was delicious. Played a weekday late morning and the place was packed, but we never felt rushed, nor did we have to wait long between holes. The round flowed nicely and at a steady pace.
Wintonbury Hills Golf Course
Played On 05/28/2015One of the State's best
First, the course is visually stunning. Played on a weekday at 10am, so pace of play was not an issue. The course is one of the best maintained I've ever played. The fairways definitely reward a good drive, and there were plenty of slopes and hills. The greens were undulating, fast, and a true test. The starters were very friendly and accomodating. The cart GPS was an interesting technology, but it did not interfere with the experience. The price was below what I would expect for a course of this caliber.
Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane
Played On 05/05/2015Great Course for all abilities.
Fun and fair. Water on some holes which forced a "brains over brawn" approach. Iron off the tee was definitely the choice on these holes, but it left me with a comfortable approach distance. The ball landed soft on the greens , and greens were not intimidating. The grounds crew was cutting the day I played, and I found them to be as courteous to golfers as was possible.
This is awesome feedback. Thanks for your 5 star review. Our grounds team has been amazing all year and with challenging weather, their hard work has been paying off. Thank you for your recommendation and we hope to see you back again soon.
