Hawk's Landing Golf Club
Played On 02/28/2017Pristine golf course with the best staff!
My first time playing the course this past week and WOW what a course! The conditions are the best around Orlando and I have played golf everywhere as I'm in the golf industry with the Golf Channel. Terry helped me with booking my tee time and was able to secure me a great time at a fantastic rate. The layout is challenging and the greens are very slick and roll true. You can tell a lot by the way the greens are kept and Hawks Landing's are perfect. The tee boxes are impressive as they were in as good of shape as the pristine fairways. Lay out was challenging but fair. Customer service really stood out as being one of the best golf facilities in the area. I left my phone at the driving range and as I made the turn, I saw a member of the staff greet me with phone already in hand. I'm sure the panic look on my face gave away that I'm the one who lost the phone. The person at the counter knew my name as I walked up to check in which was very impressive as it was my first time playing golf at Hawks Landing. They have water bottles already in the cooler and fresh apples at the cart area. Post round I talked to the head pro Mike Hodgins about booking another round as my playing partner and I were so impressed with the experience. Very impressed by the personal service and care. Add top notch conditions and this golf course is worth every penny. Check it out if you're a local or visiting Orlando. You may just have a new favorite course.
Country Club of Pittsfield
Played On 05/22/2016Country Club of Pittsfield lives up to the hype and reputation for being one of the Berkshires Best.
I had the privilege to play the Country Club of Pittsfield on my trip home to Massachusetts. Although this is a private club, head golf pro Eric Mabee graciously allowed my father and i to check out a course. Having grown up in Pittsfield, I've been really wanting to play this course for a long time. I have played most courses in the Berkshires and I have to say, condition wise, this is one of the best courses. The fairways were in perfect condition and the greens rolled true. Living in Orlando Florida for the past six years, what I found most difficult was the steep changes in elevation. Up and down throughout the course, with few flat straight away holes, but after all, it is the Berkshires. Taking a cart is highly advised as this course will put you through an intense workout! Hole 11, I found to be the most difficult as your second shot to the green is straight up hill. (see pictured) Once you get to the top, the green provides one of the many breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and city of Pittsfield. Another great thing about The Country Club of Pittsfield is water comes in to play very rarely. The greens are very well protected by quite a few bunkers. The pro shop is stocked with everything you need and the staff is friendly and helpful. The clubhouse is enormous. Its a mansion that provides a wrap around deck, ideal for weddings. The two recommendations I would make would be to have GPS on board the carts, and a beverage cart offering cold beverages and snacks/sandwiches. I cannot recall any course in Berkshire County that currently has these amenities. It would provide a great advantage over other area courses to its current members and in recruiting new memberships. One unique thing, that got my attention was the fact the driving range has a full stand up, head to toe mirror. This way you can look at the side 90 view of your swing. I loved the driving range and the range balls were top quality. I enjoyed my time playing the Country Club of Pittsfield and I would recommend this course to beginners all the way up to low handicappers. It will challenge you and make you a better player by putting you in situations most of us don't practice. Check it out if you have the opportunity!
Celebration Golf Club
Played On 02/27/2014One of the best courses I have ever played
Celebration is my home golf course and one of the best around. I take my family here whenever they are in town as well as my PGA Tour friends. If you want to impress a visitor, this is the place to go. Always in good shape, with friendly staff and good food, this course is a"must play"
Eagle Creek Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2014Great course at a great price
Eagle Creek is one of the best courses in the Orlando area. Set next the Orlando International Airport, heads up if you hit your driver high as you may actually hit a plane as it takes off. Good lay out, always in good condition. Driving range needs improvement. Grass is too long and targets have no yardage to them.
Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course
Played On 02/23/2014My favorite Orlando course!
Simply my all time favorite course! Excellent shape and great layout as you wind your way through the Disney Resort Property. Very scenic! Only complaint is that the Driving range closes at 2pm on Wednesday and Sundays to collect balls. This is something that can be done at 4pm after the last tee time. Other then that, great course. Much better then the other Disney Courses.
Boca Royale Golf & Country Club
Played On 01/20/2014Unique course
Adrian, Scott, Larry and the rest of the staff are incredible! Always friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to make you golf experience great. I have been golfing at Boca Royale for years now and the lay out is hard is some areas and easy in others. Not a bombers paradise. Its a short course. Very narrow front 9 with ALOT of water. Bring extra balls! Back 9 is more forgiving with less water. The food is fantastic at the resturant! Good place for a post round beeer or pregame lunch. Excellent spot to watch people finish their round on the 18th green and tee off on hole number 10. Now things to be aware of- Driving range is not open to the public. You have to be a member on the community to access the range, which is basically a dirt pasture. They do however offer nets you can hit into on mats. This however gives you no feedback on ball flight on how you are hitting that particular day. There is also a dress code. Shirts must be tucked in. No other course I have ever played has this rule, unless it's an exclusive club that hosts PGA Tour events. The greens are always in tough shape. They get alot of play and are always slow, soft and show alot of wear. They have put alot of money into improving the course, and they still have a ways to go to draw in more of the public and make it more inviting. In Sarasota County , there is alot of great competition. This course is sure to be on your favorites list as the lay out, friendly staff and scenic views will surely make it a great afternoon of golf.
Windermere Country Club
Played On 01/14/2014Narrow course with average layout
Average course. Spotty shape at times. Very narrow. Not alot of driver holes. Plenty of other good choices!
Grand Cypress Golf Club - Links Course
Played On 01/07/2014Good for bombers
Love the New Course at Grand Cypress! Wide open lay out means you can score well even if youre not hitting it well. Can be very windy and the greens are tricky. Play this for sure. Very unique!
The Golden Bear Club at Keene's Point
Played On 01/02/2014Top notch!
Course is always in great shape. Pace of play is never a problem as I notice most golfers are on the same page of keeping it moving. The staff is always nice and it only took a couple of trips for them to remember my name. Always a warm welcome when I arrive at the course. They grounds crew is out daily to make sure the course is in tip top. This is one of the better courses overall in the Orlando area. Enjoy your round!
Grand Cypress - North/South
Played On 12/18/2013Very hard course
As a beginner, I think this course plays very difficult. I think the North is the best out of the three. Great island green on the East course. Always in good shape, this is good if you want to impress friends and practice hard shots.
Berkshire Hills Country Club
Played On 09/02/2013Best course in the Berkshires
Love playing this course when I come back to Massachusetts in the summer time. Great layout, excellent views, and great greens make this a popular place in the summer months. Great pool area and bar for wathcing the game after a round. The downside to this course is there's no beverage carts, GPS, and the rough is always very long! I guess living in Florida, I'm used to this. Great course if you get a chance to play it!
Skyline Country Club
Played On 08/14/2013Avoid playing here!
Driving range is a joke, loud carts and poor conditions! Many better choices to spend 4 hours!
Tranquilo Golf Club at Four Seasons Resort Orlando
Played On 08/13/2013Excellent layout
I am sad this course is no longer run by Disney. It was sold to the Ritz in August of last year. Amazing layout, tons of wildlife. Always in excellent condition with many challenging holes. Great range and pro shop staff is great!
General Electric Athletic Club
Played On 07/08/2013Great 9 hole course!
I play this course everytime I come home to Pittsfield. Awesome layout and always in great shape. Play here and you wont be dissapointed!
Falcon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 06/14/2013Best public course in Orlando
One of my all time favorites! This is one of the best courses overall in the Orlando area. Manager....not the most pleasant people I have ever dealt with, but the rest of the staff is quite friendly.
