Played during overseeding of fairways

Staff was very friendly. I didn't realize most of the courses in Las Vegas overseed their fairways in mid-September. Several courses simply close for a few weeks because the fairway conditions are not up to par. Due to the overseeding play was cart path only for the entire course. Not only was Bear's Best open, they were charging their full seasonal rate. I personally think courses should notify patrons of the course conditions before you pay. Fortunately, GolfNow had 33% off deals.
I'd definitely play the course again, but not in mid-September.

Hidden Gem

Played 26May2018. Tanners Brook is a hidden gem, located approx. 20 miles north of the Twin Cities metro. The value for the course is unmatched. My experience with the staff has been great each time I've played here. The pro shop has most of what you'd find at any course. The clubhouse has a full bar, kitchen, and banquet room. There is a large putting green and full length driving range, both located near the clubhouse. The course is easily walkable with only minor elevation changes and minimal walking between holes, except at the turn and playing 17. I'll get to 17 in a bit. The front nine is primarily links style. The back nine is a mix of links and parkland. My group played the back tees, most of which were not level, compared to the white tees. Trust me, there was nothing added to the holes by playing the back tees. Speaking of the back tees, they're a combination black/blue on 12 holes, so you're playing the back tees on most of course if you play the blue tees. The fairways are mainly level and were in great shape. The rough is low, but thick. The greens were in great shape, with sufficient undulation to make putting fair, yet challenging. Getting to and from hole 17 is the only detraction on the course. Hole 17 is located in a mosquito breeding ground. Unlike all of the other holes, hole 17 requires walking approx. 100 yards through what seems like a primordial wooded area to get to the tee box and from the green to hole 18. Due to the mosquitoes 100 yards seemed like a mile. Not only is it the greatest distance between holes, it's the worst experience of the round. It would be great if the paths to and from 17 were sprayed, but you might want to bring your own spray as you'll need it here.
If you like a challenge on a great couse at a great value, this is the course for you.

Thank you for playing Tanners Brook Golf Club, Eric! We're thrilled to hear that you consider our course to be a hidden gem. We apologize if your experience was less than ideal on hole 17 due to the mosquitos but other than that it sounds like you had a great day. Come back again soon!

Great Track!

Played while visiting Charlotte for Thanksgiving. I felt the course was challenging and fair. I'd like to play again since this was my first time. Even with the dormant grass and post-peak fall colors the course was visually pleasing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in ensuring a speedy round. Not much of a clubhouse though, but I went there to golf.

Fun and Challenging

Played Sept. 2015, but Golf Advisor's calendar will only allow me to go back one year.
Great Track! Loved the idea of recreating 18 holes from various Nicholas courses. Most holes are from desert courses, but one hole is recreated from a parkland course in Colorado. I was impressed at how Bear's Best recreated the pine trees and rough in the desert of Las Vegas. A must play if you're in town. I played on a deal through GolfNow with a couple of other guys who played a lot more than me. Lastly, I've also played Bear's Best just outside Atlanta. The staff was friendly at both. In my opinion the Las Vegas track has much more character and were more recognizable.

Nice Track

First time playing. Noon tee time. Staff was very friendly. Nice views of mountain ranges on several holes. Course conditions were sub-par for the green fee. Greens were not fast like I've experienced at other TPC courses. Fairways were recently over-seeded so it was "Cart Path Only" the entire course. Fairways were a bit shaggy. Played from the tips. A few tee boxes were in awkward positions, like having to backtrack up the canyon from #2 green to #3 tee then go past #2 green again. I'd play again, but only with a GolfNow discount.

Gem

I would be a member and play this course exclusively if I lived closer. Every hole provides a unique challenge. This course allow you to use every club in your bag. The greens are receptive, true and challenging. I especially enjoy the cow lurking in the woods, watching each putt on the 4th green. I wonder if she gets a kick out of those who misread their putts. One of these days I'm going to at least par hole #7; it challenges me every time. Finally, great staff!
