Towne Lake Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2018Beautiful Layout
Course is one of nicest if not nicest course I have played in North Georgia since retiring in Georgia in last year and half. Greens are bent, good speed and in good shape overall as is course.

Played On 07/09/2018Beautiful and challenging Robert Trent Jones Course
While I am a senior I chose to play the blues. I hit ball on average 230 which makes course a little long from blues. There are several other tee box lengths which is good.
Course has bent green and while a number had been top dressed I believe with light sand, greens were true and overall good. The layout is typical Jones with plenty of challenging holes (sand and water and lateral hazards) in midst of a beautiful design with slopes and short sides and other challenges. I generally do not recommend course for high handicaper as I think one will feel “pretty beaten up” by course. As usual course knowledge goes a long way, for instance last par 3 on back I believe 14 or 15 I hooked slightly to just left of green and ended up 8 feet. Hill on left side very friendly while nothing good on right. Also I believe 17 over water on tee shot slight dogleg to right where 2nd shot over water. A little long is fine but short not good. A little long and ball comes back on green.
Enjoyed the course and playing partner. Will probably play white tees next time.
Best wishes.

Enjoying playing course weekly. Overall course in good shape, challenging depending on tee box you select. Senior tees makes course more manageable for higher handicapper and senior. Course to hilly to walk, possibly energetic can walk front. Nice layout with pretty views. Recommend highly also good cost for your mone6.

Played On 03/02/2018Windy day at the links
Course challenging under normal conditions but windy and in 50’s especially. Had a great time. For winter with little bit of sand on greens but overall putted good and will probably be very good for spring. Played a twosome and did not have to wait on one hole. Good deal on cost today. Course is a challenging layout and requires the ability to carry the ball over a range of hazards. While playing a closer tee box will be of assistance for the high handicapper the course maybe be a bit more than you want, but leave that up to you. Beautiful layout and can not wait to play course in spring time. This is a championship design type course and is every bit as enjoyable to play as any Robert Trent Course in Hilton Head or elsewhere.

Good layout. Unfortunately a lot of rain, course wet may have to address drainage issues.

Lake Arrowhead Yacht & Country Club - Highlands Course
Played On 01/26/2018Challenging course, interesting layout with great features
Course quite challenging from white tees on cold day. I hit ball about 230 off tee (warm day)and was striking it pretty good the day I played and course was all I wanted in terms of challenging. Course is just over 6000 yards from white and played much longer. In summer I would imagine plays shorter. Note that there are a number of ravines or hazards that must be carried therefore if one is used to running ball on ground and hitting it low this course might be extra challenging. The beauty of the layout can even be appreciated in January. I am looking forward to playing it in the spring which our group plans to do. Having local knowledge would be helpful ie on first hole, par 5 I was not sure what to hit so hit a 5 iron which was just right as I came to within 15-20 yards of ravine. Did not know how far second ravine so I punched6 iron and then hit 5 iron to green from about 155 ( I hit 5 iron 175-180 on warm day) so again played longer than I thought it would. All holes were unique and interesting and enjoyable. There are several short par 3’s but also several that were 190 but played longer. I struck a utility club (hit 190-200)on all of long ones and made good contact and was short both times.

Fairways of Canton is a challenging course though not long. For scoring purposes one is required to hit it straight and putt well. The greens are not large, and often have one or more tiers. Greens are in good shape and while not currently fast pin placements can make two putting sometimes a challenge on longer putts due to tiers and breaks. Play was brisk, as we played a twosome in 3 1/2 hours for 18 holes. Course wet but overall in good shape. Administration does a good job in keeping fairways in good shape by often using 90 degree rule especially if a little wet and some holes cart path only. I have played course a number of times and administration does a good job in protecting the course. We had an enjoyable day.

Great little course. Multiple markers allow play as senior course to expert from black tees. Greens coming along. (Players need to be encouraged to fix ball marks). Have been playing over past 9 months and don’t tire of playing. Course has challenging and beautiful holes. Number of greens have multiple tiers. Greens slower this year so fair. When greens fast particularly challenging.

I have played course about 7 times since moving to Laurel Canyon. Good value. Challenging course, not long but have to hit it straight and greens require positioning for putts and require ones best. Lot of character
Hi "u4032235" Thank you for the great review. We appreciate the kind words regarding our challenging course and its character!
