Shadow Hills Golf Club
Played On 12/24/2018Last round of the day
My wife and I have played here before but not for a few years. We had the last tee time of the day on Christmas eve. Pace of play was a bit slow but not terrible. The course was in excellent shape and getting a Hot Deal on the round made it reasonable. Good course. I’d play there again.
ASU Karsten Golf Course
Played On 05/28/2018About to be abandoned?
I had heard the ASU course will be developed into a non-golf use in the near future. As such, I wanted to play a college course. I figured the price would be reasonable since late May in Phoenix can be hot and since it was ASU’s course, it seemed too good to pass up. I was prepared for baked and hard conditions but not for greens missing half of their turf. Like most public available tracks, I’m not surprised by unfixed divots, ball marks on the greens, and unrated bunkers, but I do expect greens to be mowed. Some were shaggy, others bare. It looked like the decision has been made to cut maintenance to a minimum.
I liked the layout. Lots of short but tight holes requiring well placed shots. I could see where the greens used to be a challenge when the place was in its prime. A significant amount of water hazards make some approaches intimidating.
Overall, I found the course neglected.
Diamond Oaks Municipal Golf Course
Played On 04/21/2017Tournament Practice Round
I play Diamond Oaks twice annually. One is a practice round and the second is in the Roseville City Senior championship. It is a nice municipal course. The greens were firm and a bit fast and have just enough subtle breaks to make putting a challenge. The course isn't long, but often requires tee shots to specific fairway targets. The bunkers were wet due to a long and wet winter but were mostly playable.
Panther Lake at Orange County National
Played On 02/21/2017Great course
My wife and I played OCN for the first time. The course was an excellent test. The par fours tended to play long due to the wind and subtle elevation changes. The greens are huge. The downside were the lack of consideration shown by other golfers. Numerous unrepaired divots and intakes bunkers marred an otherwise well conditioned track.
Raven Golf Club - Phoenix
Played On 11/29/2016Beautiful Course
My wife and I were the first group out so pace of play was ideal. 18 holes in 3 hours. The course was gorgeous, well designed, and in great shape. The greens were about a 9 stimp and firm. Fairways were perfect. The bunkers were huge and deep. Avoid at all costs.
We'd love to play here again whenever we return to Phoenix although we would prefer to play when it is a bit warmer. Brrrrr.
Camelback Golf Club - Padre Course
Played On 11/28/2016A bit pricey but a good course
Cold morning after heavy night time rains made the course play much longer. We were the first group off and we're the only ones on the course for a while. Cart path only due to the rain made the pace of play longer, as well.
The greens were fabulous, fast and firm. The bunkers were excellent, too. The fairways were soaked but I could see the course playing firm under normal conditions.
A bit pricey, but well under the rack rate.
I'd like to play there again with warmer weather.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 11/27/2016Long par 4s
A good track. I played from the tips which I usually don't do. A few of the par 4s were very long, but the par 3s were manageable and the par 5s were solid. The course was still a bit wet due to the recent overseeding but conditions overall were very good. The greens were slow to normal in speed but immense.
Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course
Played On 03/18/2015Good track but why can't Mickey make players rake their bunkers?
Typical Disney. Very nice employees and conditions are pleasing to the eye. Of course, there are no marshals monitoring pace of play, twosomes sent out consecutively behind foursomes, and an employee driving right by in the middle of a backswing and players who are almost universally unfamiliar with rakes or their purpose. Overall, though, a very nice course and a bit pricey which wasn't unexpected.
RedTail Golf Club
Played On 03/17/2015Great track
An excellent course. The conditions were very good although the course meanders around a pasture and let's just say it made for an aromatic afternoon depending on the wind's direction. We played as a twosome and slower groups were kind enough to let us play through. There was a general lack of service, however, as the pro shop staff couldn't be bothered to inform us about the need for a code to access the restrooms on the course. NOT COOL!
I would play the course again, though.
Timacuan Golf Club
Played On 03/16/2015Good course, poor service
Super fast greens, blind hazard/no clue where to hit my drive on #2, but otherwise a decent track. The service was poor. We were not given any info on using a driving range, yardages, or if we had played there before which we hadn't.
I played from the set of tees one up from the tips and it was a fair course.....everything is pretty much in front of you except on #2.
OGA Golf Course
Played On 08/23/2014Where were the marshals?
Nice enough course, although the greens were a bit bumpy. Very little roll on the tee shots. Play was very slow and no marshals were seen to speed up play. Lots of ball marks on the greens.
Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel
Played On 10/9/2013Tough track from the tips, but well maintained
A good course featuring numerous elevation changes, large and fast greens, well defined fairways, and appropriate bunkering and hazards. Early October is the beginning of the end of the playing season but the course was still in nice shape.
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 05/07/2013great course in excellent shape
we were the first to tee off. From the tips, the course was long but manageable as the fairways were firm. Wonderful bunkering with elevated greens. A real find especially for the discounted price through Golf. Now
Arizona Biltmore Golf Club - Links Course
Played On 5/6/2013Good course. Great back nine
Front nine is short and easy. The back nine is where the value is. Some challenging holes and fantastic views. The course was in excellent condition.
Grande Pines Golf Club
Played On 2/11/2013Slow play and unraked bunkers
No marshals to be seen during a 5 hour round coupled with numerous unraked bunkers and unrepaired ball marks. A good track but not worth the money given all the available choices in Orlando.
The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes
Played On 2/10/2013A top end experience
Pace of play was brisk. The course conditions were perfect except the edges of some greens were spotty. The greens were very fast and difficult to read. The scenery and wildlife were an added bonus. Great afternoon!
