Fair course with some standout holes

A definite course to keep it straight if you want to score well but if you do then lots of birdie chances especially on the Par 5’s. Some really good holes with the Par 3 6th a really fun hole. If the wind blows it’s a brute but course overall in good condition and facilities are very good albeit expensive for range balls on the Toptracer range - £12 for 100 balls if you are a visitor. It covers a lot of area with a few long walks between holes and with fairly high rough for errant shots it’s not a quick whizz round but would recommend you give it a try

Good mix of holes and tricky greens

Fair course with some good holes including changes in elevation, dog legs and some tight tee shots. A couple of very good par 3’s and every hole gives a different challenge. Long Par 5 with a raised fairway and a dog left round mature trees was another good hole. To be honest most holes really fun to play. The greens are severely sloping and a real case of needing to be in the right spot to avoid some devilish putts. It’s a hotel course and focuses on the weekend break golfer but I played midweek and it was close to millionaires golf. Really enjoyed the challenge. They are developing some very good practice facilities which will only increase its appeal

Average course and terribly slow play

Played here on the way up to the Wirral. Course has some undulations and a few interesting holes especially the 1st tee shot over a ravine and the 18th with an elevated tee to a Par 3 and requires some accuracy both off the tee and approach especially the front nine. Pro said they had done some work on the greens before I teed off. Course still wet from heavy rain the day before. Some blind shots with no guide markers on line especially 4th hole where second shot was over a hill to a green set tight between OOB and woodland. Played as a single golfer and followed 2 old boys in a buggy from the 8th hole onwards. Waited on every shot. Often both reloaded off the tee and left clubs by the green on two separate occasions so drove back to collect. Tried everything to get allowance to play through but totally ignored. At £30 for a twilight round didn’t feel value for money and the ignorance of two members ruined the round

Best greens I’ve played on

Played in the Pairs Open yesterday and really enjoyed the course. Course was in fantastic condition. Played off the competition tees which meant it played long but there are is a lot of variation of holes most of which are tree lined meaning you need to be pretty accurate and typically hitting long irons into pretty small greens so slope rating is spot on. The greens were the best I’ve ever played on. Absolutely smooth and true. Overall it’s a really decent golf course and we’ll worth checking out

Cracking course

Played the course based on the many positive reviews and can only recommend it. Both the course and set up is top notch. The pro in the shop was great fun and readily explained a bit about the course and its navigation. The course itself was in excellent condition save for a few tee boxes which were a bit bare but were all level. The fairways were immaculate and sat the ball up perfectly and the greens were very good with a bit of stop. The course is massive with many long walks from green to tee, and its a course where you need some length off the tee and you need to be relatively straight. There are loads of elevation changes and different angles so its not a grip it and rip it course. The background to the Park and how the course has been integrated in it only adds to a course which I believe is how golf should be played. Highly recommend giving it a go.

Slow play Society nightmare

Played this course a number of times over the years. Course itself is a nice mix of holes, always plays long and typically the wind blows. Greens are always in good condition and quick. You need to hit driver well to reach a lot of fairways. Playing yesterday there was a golf society of three four balls of retired age golfers who turned up late which delayed my tee time and took 3 hours to complete 12 holes, regularly struggled to reach the fairway resulting in loads of looking for balls and hacking out which resulted in them losing nearly 4 holes on the Group in front. Both our 2 ball and the 2 groups behind me ended up walking in. Whilst not really the clubs fault it spoilt the day.
