Great Greens

Stow has two courses: A South course and a North course. The South course has the older section built in 1924. Many elevation changes, raised greens, some tight holes and "rough" patches, but that's due as much to the drought as it is maintenance.

Big hitters will not pull out driver too often. I hit 2 drivers and 4 3-woods and the rest were irons and hybrids off the tee, but I am a long hitter hitting it 300+ on drives.

You'll enjoy the greens. Soft and receptive so if you play a soft ball and spin it you will get the results you want. Greens were putting a little slower than I thought they would, but still very nice

Course was a little "Less" than what I was maybe expecting to see. Decent but not great conditions/layout.

Hidden Jewel

Excellent course well off the beaten path. We're in the middle of a tough drought but the course was green, soft and in pretty darn good condition. Fantastic greens and fairways. Some tight holes, well place water but extremely fair layout. Not overly long. We played the blue tees, which played to 6100 yards. Blacks would have been around 6500 yards and that would have been a very good test.

Excellent Course

Don't get fooled by the course yardage. It appears short, but it's not. Strategically placed trees, doglegs, slopes and excellent greens with slopes, tiers and fairly quick. Couple "squirrely" holes but for the most part excellent layout.

Fantastic Greens

Overall, this is a good course. Greens are fantastic. Very challenging, big breaking putts in places, not much water.

Some holes are a little punitive because of crowned fairways or oddly placed hazards that make 2nd shots very long (15 as an example).

You'll also find some protruding granite rocks in places and significantly on 17 and 18. You'll find this on a lot of old New England courses unless they dig them out.

Again, overall it's a great day and you'll love the greens and the challenge.

Nice Course

Pretty good condition for a muni course that gets a lot of play. Two very different nines. Front is mostly flat and fairly open except for hole 7. The back is many ups and downs and lots of trees. If you're walking, the last 3 holes will make you wish you took a cart - severe ups and downs. Greens relatively fast and in good shape. You will be challenged all day.

Worth the Drive

You should never aspire to find yourself in sand traps, but I'm telling you these are the finest sand traps you will ever find - even on the PGA tour! Perfect white sands better than anything you'll find in Florida, but not the fine dusty type sand. If you've golfed some of the top courses anywhere, this is the type of sand you'll see here. Okay, enough about sand.

Greens are quick, undulating and fast - love it! Very well manicured fairways even though we've had a late spring as the trees still had no leaves. Got very windy but course is still playable with strong winds. Fair but extremely challenging. Very good layout. I will be back, again, and again!

Worth the Drive

Didn't know what to expect, but happily surprised with this course. From the tips, where I played the course, it's 6700 yards that plays more like 7000+. Strategically placed water hazards, some holes wide open, others tight but always with a bailout side. Variety of holes to work it left to right or right to left off the tee, again, with a bailout side so the course never feels too tight. Greens were in decent shape for late March and you can tell the fairways are excellent. Want to play this again later in the spring when everything is green. You will love the challenge!

Great Course

This is a semi-private course. Couple quirky holes but overall very fair and very challenging. Greens were plugged late last fall so still a bit bumpy now but will be in excellent condition probably in 30 days. Always a great time here.

Good Nicklaus Layout

Extremely long from the tips. Unless you're a bomber, don't try it from the blacks. Blue a good test. Ample landing areas. No reason to lose any balls. Not as challenging as a Nicklaus Signature course but still very strong. Conditions were pretty good when you consider we just had 6 inches of rain in two days. You'll enjoy this track.

Great Par 3

Nice par 3 course between the ocean and inlet waters. From the black tees, you'll have some testy 170 to 200 yard par 3's and plenty of short ones with challenging, quick greens. Little pricey at regular price but nicely priced on last minute golfer. Had 10:20 tee time but it was jammed after 1pm. Earlier the better to get out

Excellent Layout

Played it from the tips and it was comfortable for me at 6400 yards. Plenty of water but also generous landing areas and decent sized greens. Tough Par 3's from the tips. Most around 200 yards. Weather has been fantastic down here and typically this time of year you don't have a lot of "green" going on as the bermuda gets a little dormant. Not this year, not this week. Everything very nice. Greens good speed. Just sanded greens so took some of the spin off the ball but you just had to plan for a bit more roll.

Executive Course "Plus"

This is basically an executive course but there are probably 5 holes that are par 4's where you can hit some woods. I hit driver about 310 and I was able to use my 4 hybrid off the tee once, two 3-woods, a 4-wood and one driver (brisk wind in our face on 18). Greens small but in excellent condition and fairly quick. If you're hitting greens on this course then your iron game is "spot on". Traps very nice, fairways very nice. Big gator on 18 (maybe 8 feet!) but pay him no never mind! Little pricey at full price but great deal through Golf Now. Want to work on your iron play, this is the place to do it.

May Golf in November

Just a few days from December but you wouldn't have known it by the weather. 65 degree day in late November. Greens were, and I'm not exaggerating, in excellent condition and fairly quick. Fairways are average at best even in June but the greens and traps are always very well kept. Enough twits and turns to keep it interesting along with a few greens that are as small as a one car garage, but that's what makes it interesting. Nice practice green and driving range. Nice pub for after your round. Easy to walk if you choose. Just a couple holes that go up and down to get the blood flowing.

Donald Ross Beauty but Getting Old

If you like Donald Ross the golf course designer then you'll LOVE these greens. Quick, many false fronts and in GREAT shape. The rest of the course is very tough. Many, many boulders coming up through the fairway plus you'll need to ride your golf cart like a jockey on the horse or you will need a chiropractor later.

Some very tough par 3's and short nearly driveable par 4's. At full price this is way overpriced for my liking. Through Last Minute Golf it was fantastic.

Quality Course

We've stayed at this resort before but always in the late fall when the course was closed. Got a great offer through golf now so we made the one hour ride to olay. They just aerated the greens but they were in decent shaoe. Nice bent grass fairways though traps were not well keot. I've golfed many excellent courses from around the country so don't confuse this with Doral or anything, but it is a nice layout, plenty of challenge and a very nice pub when you're all done!
