Vista Vallarta Golf Club - The Nicklaus Course
Played On 04/13/2024Very nice experience
My second day this week at VV. Played Weiskopft two days earlier. First off the pro shop staff was very professional and efficient. The starter crew was a really nice retired American. He gave great info about VV. Was excellent. The driving range and putting area was excellent. Get there early to take advantage. The course was in excellent shape. Tee boxes and greens were exceptional. Bunkers were solid. I also played Vidanta twice this week. All courses were great but I rank VVNiklaus, VVWesiskopt and Vidanta in that order. Easy Uber to VV. @$13 each way from the Hard Rock and no issues waiting for an UBer.
Vidanta Vallarta Course at Vidanta Nuevo Nayarit-Vallarta
Played On 04/11/2024Vidanta Wall
OK. The course was above average nice. Practice area with real quality grass and balls. The greens, fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. The problem with me as a single player? I picked a time at noon when the rates went down from the morning. Got the time. Was told that I was paired with 3 other golfers....great, perfect ok. What happened? I teed off by myself and then after the second hole my caddy suggested we skip some holes and come back to them later. We played 1-2-4-5-7-8-10-11-3-6-12-16-17-15-13-14 and 18 in that order...in 2 hours and 45 minutes. I hit all 14 fairways...drove a drive-able par 4 and shot a 77. But I felt I got whiplash from the golf cart lol. My caddy was great but from trying to get into the Vidanta Wall Prison and dealing with the mediocre guys at the golf shop it took away from the experience. Getting there sucks. Allow and extra hour, take advantage of the solid driving range.
CrossCreek Golf Club

Always like playing this course when I can. This time the course was in great condition. Even though they had punched the greens 2 weeks before the were rolling great. Nice fairways. Play it
The Ocean North at Pelican Hill Golf Club
Played On 05/11/2022What’s with those practice tees for the cash paid?
Overall had a really great time on a fun and challenging course. It starts off with the practice tees. It’s mats (which is OK maybe). But like hit on a waterbed The mats might be a great training aide for playing in conditions where rain water is trapped under grass. $340 have some good practice tees.
The course was great. Great views, nice tee boxes, fairways and greens. Played with a Marshall that just finished his shift and he was helpful and a great guy. Thanks to the staff overall, great experience.

Excellent time! Great conditions and weather! Greens were great. Driving range with artificial turf but works to warm up. No restaurant open still with covid. Too bad its really good. Will be back soon.
Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms Resort - Eisenhower Course
Played On 07/23/2021Ayyyy! Even my bike likes Ike!
Ike is always a challenge. Played from the Blues at 56 with no Tylenol it was a bear. Came away with a decent 79 for me. Really good shape, greens were great. You can’t miss when you book Ike or Babe. Best values in greater LA.
Vaaler Creek Golf Club
Played On 12/17/2020Great design and fast true greens
Loved this place! Even though the much of the grass was dormant it was in great shape. We had a frost delay but everything was handled great. Lots of deer on the course. I drove 1 hour from Austin/Lakeway and was well worth it! Play this place.
Candlewood Country Club
Played On 08/31/2020Candlewood is a gem!
I have seen Candlewood on my tee time app for a few years now and always hesitated to go. For some reason I thought it was an executive course because the way it was presented on the App. Well Candlewood was a big surprise! Awesome day on the links. It’s a private course that allows play on Monday’s.
The layout was fantastic. The greens were fast but true. Pace of play? We played in 3 1/2 hours and that’s time looking for balls. It is tight off many tees. Part of the solid slope rating along with mostly elevated greens.
Go to Candlewood you will enjoy the round.
San Dimas Canyon Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2017"American Golf Will Put You In A Fivesome"
That was the quote from the starter on our Sunday round. I have played San Dimas over 20 times. Never a fivesome. I was having a great round but had to leave after 14 holes. We were at 5 hours and 45 minutes.... after we started 25 minutes late. It was so slow that the group ahead of us drank a whole liter of Vodka before 9 holes as we found their empty bottle on the ninth tee. The Starter and cashier are so grumpy (seen them there for the past couple of years) you wonder why the even work there. Sorry San Dimas the truth hurts. I used to like the course but it is now out of the rotation.
Journey at Pechanga
Played On 04/16/2016Take a Journey
I have played this course about 40 times. It's my top 5 favorite course in SoCal. The reasons? The course, the fairways are really great to hit off of. Rough can be difficulty but always seems "fair". Greens are in good shape (the afternoon can get full of divots, certain golfers don't repair!) I have played the course a lot so I can see some might think they are difficult... The ball rolls away from the mountains lol. Bunkers consistent meaning no "hard pans" or different sands. The layout is solid except for #9. A huge Oak that you must go right of and too right is OB. Journey is not for those that don't like "carries" off the tee. The cart ride itself is awesome if you actually it in during the round.
The staff is awesome! From the GM Scott on down. Never have had a bad experience...ever. Awesome cart girls too!
Th practice area is unmatched in SoCal. I have stayed at Pechanga and went to the range with 3-4 clubs...free for guests!
Finally, Journey's End, the 19th hole! Awesome views and service with TVs to watch sports after the round.
