About
Ever since coming to America in 1968, I have been a big fan of golf. So much so that I switched profession some 25 years ago. I entered the happiness business (private golf club industry) with the goal to be closer connected with my beloved sport. I retired in 2012 and now play almost daily. My handicap is 8. Due to my wife's business travel in the NE of the US, I accompany her and play local courses.

Cobblestone Park Golf Club - Garnet Course
Played On 09/10/2019Awesome
Cobblestone Park is an excellent facility, golf course and overall experience.
The conditions were fantastic, the bunkers raked and the greens rollling a good speed.
It was a pleasure to return to this facility and put my golfing skills to a test..
Staff was great, helpful and accommodating.

Oak Hills Golf Club
Played On 10/15/2018Amazing recovery
I was simply amazed by the improvements that were made and the conditions of the greens after a difficult recovery from damage from winter kill.
Great job, Mr. Superintendent: your knowledge and hard work is showing signs that will bring the players back. I will be back! Kurt
PS: Some money was spent on making improvements in the clubhouse as well, nice job!
Northwoods Golf Course
Played On 10/08/2018NIce new greeens
I was amazed and pleased how the new grass (Sunday Bermuda) on the greens have come in after the greens renovation. Awesome job! Will be back. Kudos to the owner (Mr. Rice) who has a sincere interest in making this course better and better. Keep it going, please! Kurt
Oak Hills Golf Club
Played On 06/27/2017Poor match-up
This has never happened to me before: I got matched up with probably the worst two golfers in the world. Not only were they hacks, but they were totally ignorant of their poor and slow play. We finished the first nine holes just under 3 hours. I was ready to rent and pay for my own cart for the back nine, but fortunately, the twosome I got matched up with decided to go in for a beer (or two); so my riding companion (another GolfNow customer) and I could finally enjoy our game. What a waste! Oak Hills is a challenging layout and demands attention and smart play. I will return.
Edgewater Golf Club
Played On 02/06/2017A bucket list course
Any golfer living in the Columbia or Charlotte area must put this beautiful course on their bucket list. It is located in the middle of nowhere, not easy to find but you are well rewarded when you arrive at the destination and teeing it up. Generous fairways, lots of elevation changes, undulating large, true rolling greens. No homes on the course, very scenic and memorable. The bunkers are plenty of, they are deep with much character. The staff is outstanding, very accommodating and helpful. The only shortcoming I encountered is the driving range, no grass, mostly dirt and the putting practice green was nothing to write home about.
All in all, a fabulous experience; looking forward when the dormant fairways green up and will be more pleasing to the eye.
LinRick Golf Course
Played On 11/02/2016Awesome experience and great value
It is amazing how this Richland County Recreation Department course presents itself in such good shape, round after round. They are doing a fabulous job with a limited budget, kudos to the GM and his team. I will come back many more times!

Potomac Shores Golf Club
Played On 08/15/2016A must play course
Heard much (good and indifferent) stuff about this course and finally got to experience it myself. WOW! What an awesome and challenging course. Jack Nicklaus did a fabulous job in routing 18 holes on this hilly terrain. The bentgrass greens were in excellent condition, playing fast and true. The only "strange" thing about this course is that the driving range is two holes away from the clubhouse and it takes a few miniutes to get there. My tip is to be well prepared and warm up, take an extra half an hour to ready yourself for the challenges. Can't wait to return. The staff is warm, professional and helpful. The Clubhouse is something to be proud of (for a public course). Troon Golf is to be commended to support this high level of golfing experience. Can't wait to get back to VA to enjoy an encore!

Dye at Colleton River Club
Played On 11/18/2014A bucket list course..site of 2015 US Junior Amateur
Pete Dye used this relatively flat terrain with much imagination and with respect to routing around the magnificient ancient oak trees (some of them dating back 200 years plus!). The course starts with a couple of short holes, and after that, things tighten up quite a bit. Long, well bunkered par threes and doglegs will challenge every player of all level. Don't be fooled by looks, select the appropriate tee box (tee it forward - PGA slogan should be considered), as the back nine, often times with persistent winds will bring the golfer back to reality and scores skyrocketing. This site has been selected by the USGA to hold the 2015 Junior Amateur event. Something to look forward to. The staff, in all areas of the Club, is extremely well trained, professional and friendly. They are proud to be part of the upcoming exposure and challenge to host this prestigious event. The superintendent and his crew have a solid grip on all aspects of the golf course maintenance, respecting the marshes and the protected grounds and wildlife. One can learn much by playing this layout more than once. A course (the writer) could easily retire on as the variety of shots are never ending and the beauty of the land simply spectacular. A bucket list course for sure.
Nicklaus at Colleton River Club
Played On 11/16/2014A Nicklaus masterpiece
It is well worth the time and effort to gain access to this exclusive and private club/course. JN used the beautiful and interesting terrain to create a master piece. Conditions were fantastic, the greens rolling a 12+ on the stimpmeter and the weather being perfect made a most memorable experience. Once invited to play, be sure to take plenty of time to warm up and use the outstanding practice facility to prepare for the round of golf. Playing in the latter part of the day makes the finishing holes absolutely spectacular. Don't get distracted by the setting sun and the marvel mother nature provides. Instead, focus on the task on hand....the next shot.
The second shot on # 9 is a good representation of the shot making skills required to put up a good score. You will be using every club in the bag and bring back wonderful memories of this Nicklaus design.
Par 3 at Colleton River Club
Played On 10/08/2014A wow experience!
Rarely will you find a par-3 course in such perfect shape and interesting. All tee boxes are lasered and well maintained. A great way to warm up before getting on the other two club courses (if available to play) : the Dye and the Nick courses.
Real Club Valderrama
Played On 09/22/2014Bucketlist course
I had the privilege to play this awesome course with caddies and friends from Switzerland. Access to this historic course was extremely difficult but worth the time and effort to finally walk these special grounds. Course was in excellent condition, beautifully manicured with perfect fairways. Some of the greens showed signs of stress (they have bent grass greens, way down south, believe it or not!). The caddies were a great help to assist in pointing out hidden hazards and distances. The course is rather hilly and the wind can affect the ball flight in various ways. Staff was wonderful and went out of the way to make visitors (the few they allow through the gate) feel most welcome. Many restrictions are set up for guests of members to keep this jewel private and special to the members. A most memorable experience. One more thing: the cork trees (lining the fairways) are 90% wood (not air, as is mostly the case everywhere else).. Be sure to stop in the pro shop to take home some souvenirs.
Diamond Creek
Played On 09/04/2014Top Notch
This is an exclusive, private club. Must be accompanied by a member.
Course is splendid and in a beautiful mountain setting. Greens roll 12+ on a stimpmeter. Well placed tee shots are a mandate as many holes demand precision and placement. Fazio did a fabulous job in laying out this course. Breathtaking views and challenging routing make this a superb experience. Golf does not get any better than this.
Staff is fantastic, helpful and professional.
Elk River Club
Played On 09/03/2014Exclusive, private NC mountain course
Must be accompanied by a member; exclusive and very private Club. Club has its own airport.
Extremely well manicured and in excellent shape.
Much attention is being given to details, sand traps, flowers and landscaping. For a first time user, it is helpful to know where the landing areas are and where the hazards come into play. Immaculate conditions, tricky, fast greens. Jack Nicklaus did a fine job positioning the 18 holes into the available space. Back nine especially demands precision shots, some small greens are hard to hit and hold.
Ballyhack Golf Club
Played On 08/06/2014Eureka
Why Eureka: the ultimate in golf course challenge and experience. This Lester George design is to be rated on the top ten of any golf enthusiast's bucket list. Yes, it is a fantastic challenge but the rewards after hitting good shots are impressive and memorable. 18 (signature) holes on 250 acres allow for creating unparalleled scenes and impressions.
Here more than ever, select the correct tee box, starting right at the beginning. The course is fair, the conditions perfect. Use of the (available) tips sheet and GPS distance finder are essential to success. Elevation changes throughout the course. Staff is friendly and helpful. Course is strictly private.
Wylihof Golf Club - Yellow/Blue
Played On 09/10/2013Hometown course
Growing up in Solothurn, I was amazed that after many years of overseas, I came to realize that my hometown has a regulation golf course. It is rather private and hard to get on, but with some connections (with your pro) you might have a chance to play.
The course is well maintained. Flat terrain with many doglegs. Greens are soft and hold shots well. Much water is poured on the golf course. Not much roll to be expected.
Union League Liberty Hill
Played On 08/27/2013Tremendous
Standing on the first tee, one quickly realizes the awesomeness of this magnificent course. Immaculate conditions everywhere. Lasered teeing grounds, distinct outlines of fairways and rough. Unparalleled topography and constant elevation changes make this course stand out. The excitement of playing this course starts with arriving at the practice area and putting complex.
Be sure not to rush to the first tee; take your time warming up and learn the speed of the greens. Prepare for lengthy putts as some of the greens are enormous in size. Forced carries and breathtaking sights stimulate anyone with a decent game. This course can be enjoyed by higher handicap players as long as they select the correct tee box. Remember the new motto: Tee it forward!
Your feedback is important to us, Kurt. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing @CobblestoneParkGolfClub.
