Rancho del Pueblo Golf Course
Played On 05/06/2017Rancho del Pueblo, el Casa del Ganso
While geese and neighborhood cats are the only animals on this ranch, Rancho del Pueblo (or “Ranch of the Town”) does live up to its name as a local town golf course where kids, seniors, and everyone in-between can come to enjoy a leisurely round of golf. Mostly geared towards beginners, don’t expect the pace of play to be particularly speedy, or tee times to be strictly enforced. Also, know that Rancho del Pueblo is a First Tee course (a great youth program using golf to teach life skills and build character), so some holes may get reserved. The day that we went, for example, holes 1, 2, and 9 were reserved for First Tee, so they had us play 3-8 twice for a total of 12 holes (which didn’t bother us, but wasn’t indicated in advance on GolfNow). In terms of the condition of the course, overall I found the fairways, bunkers, rough, and greens to be very well maintained considering the price range. I also very much appreciated that, while there were geese everywhere, not a single dropping could be found on any of the greens. You know you’re not going to have a good round when your putts look more like pinball in an obstacle course of goose droppings...
Altogether I would recommend this course to beginners who don’t want the pace-of-play stress normally faced on the bigger or more expensive courses, or anyone who wants to focus on their short game, and see some geese along the way.
