Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Oaks/Marsh Course
Played On 10/15/2018Great Facility!
Three nines keep it from being boring because each nine has its own personality and challenges. The work on the course over the last two years is paying dividends. They have also cleared a lot of underbrush which opens up great lines of sight around the course.

When you are looking for a course in this region you could do yourself a favor and play here. It's a nice challenging layout, not your basic flat Florida course. You've got to pay attention to your shots. Golf doesn't get better than this course.

Condition of greens was superior. Even with the summer heat they rolled very smooth. Fairways are lush So a greT lie is pretty much guaranteed. Only negative was no beverage cart, which in the summer would be much appreciated.

The key to scoring on this course lies on the green. Because the grass really hasn't started growing, the greens are hard and very..very..fast. This means, leave you approach shots below the hole. :Putting down hill is a killer. The variety of the layout is outstanding. Unlike some courses in this area you never feel you are playing the same hole over and over again. Value is great, with range balls being provided! Oh...hot dogs are killers too!

Heron Creek remains a mystery to me. More to the point, its condition. The most recent visit found conditions improved, especially the greens. I hope they can continue to improve as it is a great layout, with three nines to choose from.

A nice layout with challenging holes. Only real negative is the sad condition of the traps. With those fixed would get four stars. Many of them have large rocks, no just small stones. When our group plays we have certain ones you get a free drop out of so you do to damage your club. The best feature is the mix of layouts. Greens are fast and tricky. They don't break as much as it looks like they should. Avoid at all cost being above the hole. Good value and usually easy to get on.
