Back Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/08/2019What’s going on at Back Creek
Played Back creek this week as I have for the last several years. We always enjoy the course and the value with lunch included. This year we immediately noticed the course conditions had drastically changed from previous visits. tee boxes are chewed up with many divots and crab grass everywhere. Fairways are not any better with sections of bare mud, standing water and more crab grass. Greens are variable with some firm and others receptive. Pace of play was slow at 4.5 hours which is typical for public course with no rangers activity. Highlight continues to be the restaurant and bar.
We will be looking for other courses in the area unless back creek returns to previous form.
Glen Eagle Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/30/2018.middle of the road course
Played gen eagles for the first time this week. Course is shorter than usual with many short ~300 yards par fours and 5 par threes that they seemed stretched to the max to make the overall yardage reasonable,. Course conditions are okay, not elite but better than Naples public courses. Greens were firm and fast but rolled true. Some fairways very narrow with houses in play. No real practice area other than a putting green and a net to hit into.
I would play again for the right price
Forest Glen Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/29/2018Play here
Forest glen is a well maintained very nice course. During season it is difficult to play but appeared on golfnow mid April and we grabbed a tee time. The practice area is manicured grass with an aqua driving range, nice chipping and putting area. The fairways, greens and tee boxes are immaculate. The layout is good, challenging but fair. There are a couple of quirky par 4s on the back that make you think (1 hole was 8 iron off tee and another 8 iron to green). The greens have undulations and will force a few three outs.
Solid course that should be on your list when in. Naples.
Forest Glen Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/27/2017Will try again
Nice course just on collier ave south of75 in Naples area. Course was in excellent condition with all fairways, tee boxes and greens in great shape. Layout is fun with some interesting holes over water. not extremely difficult but fun to play and will try it again. Thanks golfnow !
Atlantis Country Club
Played On 01/17/2017Decent layout layout but hope you're not in a hurry
First time at Atlantis yesterday morning. Check in slow but smooth, hit some balls at the range (no drivers allowed) and off we went. By the time we got to the second hole there are three groups stacked up at the tee box. Really! While waiting a ranger appeared (thankfully). He said to trust him and it will break up after 3. Well it took an hour to play 3 holes and almost 5 hours to play our round We waited on virtually every shot which did not add to the enjoyment of the day.
The layout seems reasonable but all the greens seem turtle back style and are very firm. Greens do not accept shots and balls are repelled front and back. Greens fast and smooth. Fairways and tee boxes ok. Course has potential and if the pace of play can be fixed (space out tee times or effective Rangers) we would consider a return.
Lely Resort Golf & Country Club - Mustang Course
Played On 11/17/2016Good public golf in naples
Lely offers two good public tracks in Naples. Mustang and flamingo. I Received a great price from golf now and would play everyday if available. Pace of play is slow with tee times every 8 minutes but other local courses are even worse.
This is a "go to" course for public golf in Naples.
Mulligan's Pointe
Played On 09/08/2016Still suffering from recent fire
Played today (September 8) with a golf now hot deal. A recent fire destroyed the maintenance shop and fairways and tee boxes are really suffering. Fairways go from bare earth to long grass making every shot a trick to find. Greens are still well maintained and layout is good. Need to hit straight as many fairways are tree lined.
Hope they can recover for 2017.
Plantation Lakes Golf and Country Club
Played On 09/06/20166 nice holes, 3 others need another year
Played today (September 6) for the first time since they opened this summer. There are nine holes and you play them twice. The course was empty so pace of play and the turn went fine. 6 holes seem well developed and the fairways are grown in. The last 3 holes probably need another year or two to let the fairways grow. Greens are mostly rock hard with only the par threes holding a shot. Some bunkers are fine and fully loaded with sand, others are still being formed and filled with dirt requiring a drop. The track itself seems to be quite nice and has promise for the future. Can recommend to others as long as you aable to obtain a fair price from golf now and limit your expectations.
I will be back.
Valencia Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/08/2016Slow slow slow
Course has potential with a decent layout and interesting holes. Course condition was fair at best with tee boxes chewed up and fairways thin. Greens are undulating And a three put is not uncommon.
Biggest problem was the pace of play. There was a ranger but he was seemingly ineffective. First 10 holes took 3 hours. Last few holes were played in darkness.
If the course can manage the pace of play or space out tee times better this could be a top play in the area.
Red/White at Limekiln Golf Course
Played On 07/22/2015Nice Course
Enjoyed a round of golf at Limekiln yesterday. Three - nine hole courses allowed them to spread everyone out. Course was in very good condition and pace of play was perfect being a week day. There are some challenging holes that require accurate tee shots to set up your second shot. Water is limited but sand and trees provide additional challenges. Definitely would like to play and try the third nine.
Deer Run Golf Club
Played On 07/10/2015Best thing was the golf now price
Took a chance on deer run due to a great discount on golfnow. Funky course with 19 holes, par 73. Many "fairways" could not be differentiated from the rough. Multiple tee boxes grouped together on many holes. Strange doglegs that left our group wondering where to aim. Several holes have no defined landing area. Pace of play was slow with an "8-some" in front of us. The staff was Friendly and helpful as they shuttled us around this group to try to keep things moving.
For the price we paid this course was ok, but if you're looking for a real golf experience there are many better choices in the area.,
Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club - Grizzly/Kodiak Course
Played On 07/19/2013Nice course
Played 18 at bear trap yesterday. Course is in much better shape than in past years. Fairways well watered and very soft (no Brittish Open here). Greens firmer and it good shape. Played as a twosome in about 3 hours. Tried to play another 9 assuming we could play for a cart fee, especially since it was 4:30 and the place was empty. We were surprisingly dismissed by pro shop where they wanted another $35, almost as much as the $45, we paid for a full 18!
Surprised by this behavior but otherwise a fun afternoon.
Baywood Greens
Played On 07/06/2013Nice experience
We always enjoy baywood . Nicely maintained and fun layout. Only complaints with several cart path only holes, (it was 95 and hasn't rained in days) and we saw the cart girl at hole 6 and never came around again.
Thank you for playing with us and for your review. Our newest holes (16-18) are still firm and are a little hard to hold. That'll get better with time thankfully. Our large bunkers are 'waste' bunkers in which you can ground your club. We turn the sand/soil mix over to eliminate the weeds. it takes a couple of days to have it dry out so we can smooth it over. (holes 12, 15 18). We look forward to seeing you again.
