Ilfracombe Golf Club
Played On 11/02/2020Not a course to play in the wind !!
Unfortunately the weather was against us, for our first visit to Ilfracombe, having said that; i didn't feel welcome, hence we did not visit the clubhouse for an after round drink, which would be a normal proceedure for us. It was; here's the card and off you go !! No mention of a temporary green on the 6th, this could have potentiallt been dangerous, as greenstaff were working on drainage on the actual 6th green. The signage was awful, we played several holes from the tee without knowing which way we were actually going a simple black and white pole for the 10th rather than a sign that had been blown around in the strong wind and maybe a red and white one for the 12th. An awful tee box on the 18th yellow tees and no obviuos route back to the clubhouse after playing the 18th. Overall I might play again on a calmer day, especially now that I have an idea of the course layout, a bit disapointed would be the overriding opinoin of us.
Sapey Golf Club - Rowan Course
Played On 08/31/2017Playing Upper Sapey, with a view to join.
I have played Upper Sapey many times before, in general the course was in an acceptable condition. However there was lots of clumped grass all over the fairways and even more in the semi and rough. I have seen the course in a better presented condition, asthelically it was rough in parts. The green also looked to have been directly overseeded, thus creating lines to put acrooss, causing deviation. I will play again and give it another chance.
