Dublin Ranch Golf Course
Played On 07/21/2018Got around quickly on a Saturday afternoon
Played as a single and got around in 2 hours. Of course, it is a par 63 course with 11 par 3's, but still it was great to zip around with no waits on a Saturday.
You can hit driver on the other 7 holes, but for the most part this is a course for practicing your irons and short game.
Greens were in good condition.
I don't think Dublin Ranch is worth full price, but the GolfNow voucher made it reasonable.
Summitpointe Golf Course
Played On 07/08/2018Need some grass
Summitpointe is a fun course with some interesting holes, BUT - there is a LOT of hard pan. Coupled with some severely tilted "fairways", there are several holes where it is impossible for a ball to end up in the fairway.
We did get around the course quickly for a weekend morning.
Arroyo Golf Club
Played On 05/11/2015Classic desert golf course
Arroyo is an upscale place (the Arroyo course is the public side, there is a private 18 as well). Very pretty location to the west of the Strip with rock formations immediately to the west of the course. Classic "desert golf" layout with forced carries off almost every tee to reach something green. That said, from the black tees the carries were fair - if you got the ball in the air you would generally carry to fairway or rough. There is one long carry over water, but it is downwind. Big Greens. Staff was really friendly and it felt that we were getting an "upscale" experience. We did not have to wait at all during our round.
The course is not particularly narrow compared to others I have played in Vegas. However, the desert scrub areas were much harder to find balls in than we would have thought. BIG bunkers around all the greens (which themselves were large).
This course provided a great final location for our three day outing. Golfnow price was considered a good value by all four of us (we played on a Monday).
Desperado/Diablo at Badlands Golf Club
Played On 05/09/2015Nice course - not far from the strip
All 4 of us enjoyed playing at Badlands. We got around very quickly and really had a good time.
Eagle Vines Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2014Nice holiday round of golf
We got out 15 minutes early and around in 4.5 hours - no waiting and no one pushing us. Was not crowded (tee time was 1:44 on Friday July 4). Had enough breeze to be comfortable without being ridiculous from a shot-making perspective. Fun day. Course played short as it was set up for holiday golf - lots of white tees up with the golds and lots of front edge pin placements. Although green, the course was pretty dry and balls got a lot of roll.
Hiddenbrooke Golf Club
Played On 8/30/2013Great course - a steal at Glfnow rate
One of my favorite courses in the Bay Area. Very interesting and challenging layout, well-conditioned, fast pace of play.
Dublin Ranch Golf Course
Played On 08/25/2013a fun day, but greens were sanded
To be fair, when I looked closer the Golfnow ad did indicate "greens have been sanded" - so I am not blaming either the course or Golfnow--I just should have looked closer before snapping up the deal.
I just wish this were some kind of icon for "course maintenance" that showed on the front screen in Golfnow as opposed to being in the fine print on the next screen.
I probably would have taken the deal anyway, but the guy I played with would not have, and we both agreed it should be made clearer. This is particularly true of Dublin Ranch, where the opportunity to putt their normally very nice greens is much of the appeal of a much-shorter-than-regulation (par 63) layout.
On the positive side - we absolutely zoomed around the course (under 3 hours for 18 holes) and, other than the sanded greens, the course was in fine condition.
