About
Liked golf since my mid twenties while stationed at the "Canal Zone", Rep. of Panama. Yet I, never picked up the game until after I turned 55 years old. My brother-in-law game me a set of old clubs that belonged to his deceased step father and before I went to the course or even the range, I paid for five, 30 minutes, weekly lessons from the FWB GC golf pro to get an idea of the game. It then took me two months, one for the 5 lessons and another of practice, before I stepped into the golf course to "play" a single round. For the next four weeks, I found myself playing once or twice a week barely breaking 130. By the end of my second month I was breaking 100 often and, soon after that I was a steady 90s player. Today, I fluctuate between mid 80s to low 90s. I've broken 80s just once, has had one eagle and one hole in one #from a temporary tee box and about 100 yrds out. So, I often don't include it as an "original" one. Now, retired and about to leave the 60s (in age#, I feel that my game is still improving. But, even if it don't get any further along, I feel that I am having more fun playing golf, than I ever had before. And yes, I am looking forward to becoming a steady 10 to 15 handicapper. I might never make it but, I'm gonna have fun TRYING!!! Life is Good!!!

Tiger Point Golf Club
Played On 08/18/2020Some Things Never Change
I have played TPGC a few times during the last 10 years or so and, I’m happy to say that from booking to golf cart return the staff at Tiger Point GC has been ‘número uno’! So, it is easy to also say that, this kind of service and attitudes toward their patrons makes for great golfing time once one starts the round of golf! As for the course? What can I say? Other than; I wish I could play it much more often than I have in the last 10 years but, living about an hour away, the 5 to 7 rounds a year will have to do. The course ‘fits my eyes’ very well (but don’t ask me about scores! Let’s just keep it at ‘it fits my eyes’!) Kudos to the maintenance staff for keeping it looking sharp for golfers to enjoy! Gracias!

Have played this course a few times the last few years and have enjoyed it tremendously!
The Lightning Fast Greens are phenomenal, just getting used to them does take time .
The staff is very pleasant and the facility is kept outstandingly great
Blackstone Golf Course
Played On 02/07/2015IT'S ALL ABOUT "THE DRIVE"
I have only played Blackstone GC about half a dozen times but, that's only because of my "driving distance". Not how short my golf shots travel but, my "road driving distance". If it wasn't for the 70 miles round trip I have to drive to get to this, gem of a layout golf course, I'd probably play it three times a week. Simply a great golf course and staff.
Windermere Country Club
Played On 12/26/2014FAIR 2 GOOD
Perhaps my timing to play Windermere was not at the right time of the year or perhaps I was expecting a better manicured facility with lush greens and fairways not as hard panned as they were now. Nevertheless I would come back, at least a couple more time (and would also recommend), maybe during the springtime, when one would expect every aspect of the facility to be at its peak. But, at least for this round; the fairways were on the Hard pan side and the greens although fast, weren't as smooth as they could have been.
The staff was very friendly and professional and, since I was a walk on, the starter have me joined a threesome whom at least 2 of them, seemed to be frequent customers or even club members. My cart partner, Fred, (after we both broke the ice and engaged in cordial conversation), was my guide for the round.
In summary: a good facility with great potentials and friendly staffs and costumers.
Seascape Golf Beach and Tennis
Played On 12/19/2014NICE LAYOUT
Truthfully the golf course layout is nice. The approaches and par 3s forgiven and the greens comfortably big enough for all kinds of handicap levels.
Eglin AFB Golf Course - Falcon
Played On 12/12/2014BUEN CAMPO DE GOLF
Baytowne at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort
Played On 11/12/2014COURSE CONDITIONS AS ADVERTISE
This was my third time playing at Baytowne GC and, with no doubt, the TLC put into maintaining the course in tip top condition can be appreciated everywhere. And the staff makes everyone, who plays here, feel very welcomed; beginning with the cart personnel.
The only problem this time around, for me? I booked a mid afternoon round and being that; Daylight Saving Time had taking effect a couple of weeks ago that, toppled with a couple of very sloooow foursome groups immediately in front with a couple of holes empty in front of them... things didn't play out as I had thought. The end result was that I only played 15 holes, bypassing holes 12~14.
Still, always a pleasant experience playing at Baytowne GC in the San Destin Golf Clubs complex.
The Links at Southwind Country Club
Played On 09/21/2014GEM IN THE ROUGH
Found this Diamond in the Making while visiting my daughter in south Atlanta. After looking in the net and reading both, good and bad comments about South Wind GC, I wanted to see for my self, why such a disparity with the comments.
But it truly was a pleasant surprise even though, it really can use some TLC to get it to it's reachable potentials. And, from talking to the new owners, the course will in fact, be seen improvements in the areas that are most obvious, including the greens.
The "low grades" from the few, has to have come from people (golfers) that find it difficult to play a lot of "blind" shots and need wider fairways. And I can sympathize.
Yet, from my perspective, once the greens receive the attention they need and a few touch ups, "here and there" the course will become the Gem it is bound to be. I must play it again, the next time I come from Destin, FL, to see my daughter.
Oaks at Ft. Walton Beach Golf Club
Played On 05/03/2014COURSE FAIRED WELL FROM "ROUND" OF STORMS
Compared to its sister course, the Pines weathered the recent storm quite well. (From the looks of it; the Oaks could be shut for a little while).
The Pines course's greens are going through; what seems like a periodical stage of Brown Spots that keep making its returns every so many years except, that this is the second or third year in a row of the greens malady.
Other than this fastidious reoccurring problem the course is holding its own; none the less to credit are the maintenance personnel at our muni courses.
Tiger Point Golf Club
Played On 02/04/2014WEATHER ALERT!!
The day was for the birds! But, not necessarily the Snow kind, as not even the friendly, region's winter visitor could have enjoyed this particular day!
FOG! (The only good thing with this condition was that; when you don't hit it long, is easier to find). HIGH WIND! (The bad part was knowing that your "Power Fade" now becomes a "Power Slice"). COLD TEMPTURES! (With the temps in the low 50s, a local is "out of his environment").
The day was more like what the Golf Channel shows when The Open is televised.
Other than that, specially after the turn, when the weather started to normalize, the course played as it always has, Great! Which is the reason why our foursome traveled the 60 miles roundtrip from Fort Walton Beach.
We will return and want others to consider playing Tiger Point, even if, for Once in a Lifetime. I'd recommend the experience even if the travel time makes it a 100 miles round trip!

Great golf course. Great golf experience. Granted I can only play this course when Golfnow.com offers it in their "best deal". The course is one that any golfer wouldn't mind playing every time possible, when the opportunity presents itself. I know that I'll try, very soon.
Indian Bayou Golf Club
Played On 01/15/2014THIS GOLF COURSE WILL NEVER DISAPPOINT
From the time you pull to your parking space to the time you leave the premises the golf experience is a great one. Cart boys are polite and the starter is very helpful explaining course management, especially on a couple of "tough" holes.
The course is very well maintained with the fairways, for the most part, receptive and forgiven. The greens are kept immaculate and many are very undulated and fun to play.

Played On 12/24/2013ONE TO COME BACK TO, AGAIN
(Here), I am a 17-20 Hdcp(er), and love playing the course when visiting the area, from Florida. Both time I played this course have been "weatherly". First time It had rained the previous 24 hrs. this last time was a chilly 55 (by a Floridian standards, it was freezing). The course plays fair, especially if you hit the ball where "you suppose to hit it to". Nevertheless, it is a very enjoyable place and one that I hope to play when the weather is "ideal". So, look for me to return here when I come visit my daughter. PS: The staff is very polite, friendly and helpful.
Shalimar Pointe Golf Club
Played On 11/19/2013WEEKDAY HACKER
Since I first found the time to play Shalimar Point Golf Course, in the late 1990s, the course has been one of my favorites in this; "golf courses aplenty region" of FL. I can count 30 golf courses within 30 miles from my driveway in Fort Walton Beach, FL. But, to be honest; I have seen the course, especially the greens, in a lot better conditions than they have been lately at this popular GC. But, they are STILL up there with the best in the region. The day before I played the course this last time, it had rained a river, so this was one of the reasons for the nicely undulated greens to look a bit rough and somewhat slower than they normally have been. Overall, the course is very well maintained and challenging for this (18 hdcp.) player. I always have fun when I play Shalimar Point and so will anyone else, no matter the level of their game. Especially the par 3, 12th hole. One of my favorites. Lastly, it's worth mentioning that the staff has always been very friendly.
Glad you had a great customer service experience but please email me directly for a makeup promo code at lucyteetimes@gmail.com so you can see how premiere our course really is!
