Fairway Hills Golf Club
Played On 10/22/2022Nice course but could be better!
Layout is nice, and a very short course. While one might think it's good for beginners based upon the yardage, there are quite a few hazards in play.
Further, my annoyance is with pace of play, which is horrendous. 3 Groups on a Par 3 is Unacceptable! Need to have Marshalls out to encourage groups to pick up the pace or move to pen holes. 18 holes on a 6000 yard course should not take %.5 hours.
Rocky Gap Casino Resort
Played On 05/29/2022Nice Resort Course
Nice course in the hills of Maryland. Can get busy in the summer as casino/resort goers take up the parking lot. Course is nice and challenging, but can be pricey without a 'deal'.

Played On 09/30/2021Greens in bad shape
Greens on the Front nine especially are in bad shape. Back nine was a bit better. Bunkers need work, and pace of play was slow for a Thursday afternoon. Decent course to walk.

Played On 04/08/2021Nice course
Nice course. Pretty packed when I played. Breezed through the front 9 and then hit a wall on the back with very slow play, i.e. 3 groups on the 17th hole - a par 3!!
Courses everywhere need to marshal their courses.
The Timbers at Troy
Played On 08/07/2020Nice Course, but......
Is a nice course, with friendly staff. However, Kemper Sports, or Howard County (who owns the course) is not really taking care. They spent millions of $ a few years ago and re-did the bunkers. Now they're crap, as simple basic maintenance is not being done. Is it too much to ask that they be (machine) raked once a day? No one replaces divots, or fixes ball marks on the greens, which has led to little maintenance of the course, other than to cut the grass! Save your money (as it is pricey), and other public courses are better maintained.

Nice course, friendly staff. Comfortable to walk. However, the back could be tiresome as there a few holes with great distances between green to tee.
Blue Mash Golf Course
Played On 08/31/2019Nice to play
Ok course, with moderate difficulty. Front treeline, back pretty open. Wind could be a factor on the back

Fun course in decent shape. Pricey without the use of any coupon/deals.
Glade Valley Golf Club
Played On 10/22/2017Worth the play
While a bit out of the way, this course is definitely a 'must play' locale. The staff are friendly, and the greens were in great shape. The only detriment I had, was with the pace of play, and waiting on most shots was not fun. Round was about 5 hours long with that.
Brickshire Golf Club
Played On 09/18/2017Course has seen better days.
Nice course, as I'd played it before, and played it again with a friend who suggested.it based upon his skill level. While we had to course to ourselves other than the last 2 holes (someone must have jumped in front), it appears apparent that the course has seen better days. Greens were slow, fairways/tees/rough were a bit ragged in spots. Too bad, because with the 5 sets of tees its is a course for all skill levels.
Patuxent Greens Country Club
Played On 09/04/2017Don't play this course
I returned to play this course after years of not being there. I decided to give it a shot, based upon their stated claims of "$1.5 million of renovations". Obviously, these 'renovations' did not involve the golf course. The tee boxes were horrendous, the fairways a weed patch, the greens bumpy, the bunkers a mud hole, and water puddles all over. To top that off, it took us almost 6 hours to play 18 holes, teeing off at about 11:00 a.m. There were no rangers policing the speed of play, and on some holes has 4 groups on it - green/fairway/2 on the tee box. So, if you want to play golf, go elsewhere. There are plenty of decent course for the money within a half hour drive of this monstrosity..
Are you sure you played Blue Mash? The description of a tree lined front nine and open back nine is not really accurate.
