Sequoyah National Golf Club
Played On 07/06/2021Keep It in the Fairway!
The fairways were reasonably wide, but be careful not to stray beyond the first cut of rough because the second cut can be brutal. The greens are undulating and very smooth, but not as fast as they appear. A good quality golf course tee to green.

Course was in pretty good shape considering it's been so dry lately. Club house staff were friendly. They are cutting down a great number of large oaks, pines, and sweet gum trees on both nines and not just around the tees and greens. The 9th hole was closed down because of active tree felling from tee to green on both sides of the fairway. It was still a good day...as long as you're not a tree hugger.

Some greens difficult to read. A few hills, but green to tee on average not a long walk, so good course to walk.

Course was "out in the sticks", so I was not expecting much. It turns out it was well worth the 35 minute drive from my home. Course was in good condition from tee to green and all the greens were in very good condition. The layout was interesting with many gentle doglegs and the course was wide from tree line to tree line on most holes. The Bermuda rough was not deep, but you could lose a golf ball if you did not mark it well. The Club house was good as was the snack bar/restaurant. Staff was friendly. I will definitely come again.

Very good design. Greens are in good condition, but the surrounds are only fair, as are the bunkers. Fairways are reasonably wide and in good condition. If someone put some money into conditioning this course it could demand a much higher green fee. As is, it is priced about right.

Weather was cold and windy. Played the white tees. Good variability of hole design. On balance I'd say it was a "shot makers" course, i.e. helps if you can shape drives around a few dog legs, not too long and you cannot spray the ball and get away with it. Fairways and greens were in good condition, especially considering it was the dead of winter. I'd definitely play it again...except when it's warmer!
Forest Hills Golf Club
Played On 12/1/2012Better than average bang for the buck.
Tee boxes good condition, fairways fair, greens quick and smooth (except for unrepaired ball marks) sand bunkers good (except for unraked footprints). Bunker sand clean and depth was good but very thin in some places. Staff was friendly and clubhouse is good. Practice facilities good except driving range reverts to astro turf mats in the winter. Driving area generous, greens perched and fall off quickly to somewhat deeper than average (for a public course) bunkers. Nice layout keeps your interest througout. Pace of play can be slow at times due to a few inconsiderate golfers.
