Paradise Knolls
Played On 07/14/2018I wish they had air conditioned golf carts, though there was a nice breeze. There were a few brown patches in the fairways but the greens were in nice shape. Only caught up to the group in front of us a couple of times and only had the group behind us catch up a few times. Not much sand in the bunkers, mostly hard pan. I might be a bit picky but I enjoyed the round and will definitely come back (if they don’t close first).

Windy and cool. 2-club wind coming off the Pacific.

The course was in fine condition but there was a stiff wind that affected most shots and even some putts. I can handle rain and cold but the wind makes this course rather difficult for me.

There was a tournament in the morning before I played so the course was set up to be more difficult than usual. Whoever picked the pin positions was just plain evil. I can't say it was unfair, but with the overcast conditions it was not easy to read the greens. I will be back, humbled.

Played On 03/31/2018Wasn't aware the greens were punched when I made a reservation. Greens were very slow compared to previous rounds. Still, nice layout with fairways in good shape.

Played On 01/20/2018I realize that there was a short frost delay, but I didn't get out until an hour after my scheduled tee time. The pace of play was ridiculously slow. It took just over 3 hours to finish the front nine. Too many fivesomes. At that point it was getting cool, so my partner and I bailed. I probably won't be back until summer comes around.
Regulation at Marine Memorial Golf Course
Played On 01/13/2018The fairways were a little sparse in spots but not too bad. The greens were in their usual great condition. The prevailing breeze was from the east, making the long par 3 eighth a little less difficult. The only real slow holes were the par 3 17th and par 4 18th when 3 foursomes decided to play the holes together. Still, we finished the round in just under 4 hours. The weather was ideal for a mid-January Southern California day.

Too many fivesomes. Barely finished before dark with a noon tee time.

This course usually beats me up. This time was no different. The bunkers were particularly wicked and the greens were pretty fast. There was a bit of confusion at the first tee as there was no starter.
I will be back.

Pace of play was excellent for a Saturday afternoon: 3 hours and 45 minutes. The course was in very good condition, as were the greens. The only negative was the heat, which wasn't too bad. I would definitely play here again.
Eagle Glen Golf Club
Played On 04/16/2017The fairways were kind of dried out. The greens were hard, and with the wind did not hold shots very well.
I am a 23-handicap and this course beat me up. The layout was nice and very scenic but I didn't have much fun. Add in the slow play, mostly due to a bunch of macho hackers playing from the blues, and it was difficult to get into a groove.
It was interesting as a novelty but I won't go back.

An interesting course. Undulating fairways and greens with bunkers galore. Greens were in excellent shape. Fairways were not too narrow but balls in the fringes were easily lost. Spent the first nine holes with someone who was familiar with the course which helped. Last nine was a little more of a challenge. Very tactical. Better to lay up than go for it on many holes. I thoroughly enjoyed the round but getting there from Mission Viejo took almost 2 hours.

One of my favorite OC golf courses. Grass driving range is a plus. Even after the recent rains the fairways are in good shape and the greens are always pretty nice. Some long par 3's and 4's and fast sloping greens add to the challenge. It's fairly flat so walkers shouldn't have any problems. Because of the challenging par 3's it gets stacked up at times. A bargain at $35 to ride.

All in all, a very pleasant round. Because the fairways were fairly narrow and adjoining, there were many balls flying all over the place. However, most golfers were respectful and I never had anyone hitting up on me, unlike some recent rounds elsewhere. From the starter until the last hole it was very fun. The fairways were in decent shape and the greens were in great shape. I would come back again. The only negatives were the lack of a practice range, or even a hitting cage, and the traffic on the 91 was horrendous on my return home.
Castle Creek Country Club
Played On 10/15/2016Someone should be embarrassed by the course's condition
The fairways were the worst I've seen in many years. Very little grass, mostly just dirt. What little grass that was present was sparse and brown. Very difficult to make a good iron shot. Would recommend anyone considering this course to steer clear. I will say that the greens, while a little beat up, were OK when compared to the fairways.
