Desert Island Country Club
Played On 01/23/2023The wind knocked down a tree - but we played on.
We attended the AMEX golf tournament and wanted to play a round before heading back to snowy weather. We chose Desert Island as it had good reviews but was not as expensive as other courses nearby. The wind was blowing when we started but since we had already paid for our golf with the GN app my wife and I gave it a go. Due to the winter weather back home it had been several months since we had swung a club. There were leaves and branches and palms all over the fairways and greens. While on one tee box, a 100 foot tree 40 yards in front of us came crashing to the ground. While it startled us we played on and finished the round. Our favorite holes were 9 and 18, both very challenging water holes. My drives were not very accurate and I lost a few balls. We had a nice time overall and hope to come back another time when it is not so windy!
Cabo Real Golf Club
Played On 05/08/2021Beautiful course!
Our first time to Cabo, so I was excited to find $50 golf when most of the prices are more like $200. The front nine was inviting with several holes down by the ocean. The back nine was much more difficult with elevation changes and canyons. The condition of the course was pretty good, the greens ran true but were challenging! My wife played with me and she couldn't get over all of the flowers, and we even saw an iguana on the course! The temps were hot but a nice breeze helped. The cart cooler was packed with water and ice, and the cart girl came by 2-3 times each side which was nice. We ordered lunch and picked it up at the turn. Will play again next time we get to Cabo!
The Classic Club
Played On 10/02/2020Nearly Perfect!
Our first time to Palm Springs and Classic Club was our 4th and final course we played. My wife immediately noticed it didn't look the same as the other desert courses, not a single palm tree on the course! She also liked the complementary towels, ball repair tool and marker. I liked the variety of holes, short and long par 3s, par 4s and par 5s, and lots and lots of water. Since it was about 105 in the shade it was really great that the food and beverage cart came by twice each side. The green fee included dinner so we enjoyed great food while we cooled off in the majestic club house and planned our next visit to the Classic Club!
The Stadium Course at PGA WEST
Played On 09/26/2020Memorable! but slow
Our first trip to Palm Springs and this was the first of 4 courses we played. Given the history here I was most excited to play this one. It was a hot afternoon - 103 - but not unbearable, so we were just really excited to play golf. The course is amazing, beautiful views and lots of contours. My wife liked all the flowers and the birds in the water! The only downside is that we should have finished the round but due to slow play ahead of us we had play 17 in the dark (but got a birdie!) and skipped 18 (nice par we said). I can't wait until our next trip to the desert and for sure I will return to the Stadium Course.
This is awesome! Thanks!
