It’s a great course and I’ll be back. Country club level conditions

There would have to be a hot deal for $20 for me to consider playing again. All around bad experience.
-Course conditions weren’t great.
-Pace of place was slow.
-Staff attempted to force me to share a cart because they were -“low”. Told me I had to walk instead. At the turn they had 12 empty carts sitting there.

I played east orange quite a few times before it was renovated. Have not been back the past couple of years because the course is a 5 out of 10 and they charge more than other courses that have more character and better crowds (anything in somerset or union county) because they have to pay for their new clubhouse that no one actually cares about. I decided to try it out again because i moved about 8 minutes away earlier this year and saw a $25 golf now time. I had low expectations for the course because I know it is very short, isn't well cared for, and plays slow. But hey its a county course and I'm only paying 25 bucks so who cares. Everything about the course was what i remembered except for the pace, which was a little bit better than usual (because it was a 4pm round and no one was out there). What led to my negative review is that the course had no running water. I tried to fill my water bottle up at the clubhouse (sorry its closed), on multiple holes where there are jugs (empty empty empty empty), at the turn i asked the employee to help me out (nothing we can do, im also extremely lazy and going to continue laying down on this couch while a paying customer is asking for help). The worst was the snack shop where the kid told me he'd sell me water.

A few words of advice for east orange: (1) you should never not be able to fill up your water at a course, that's extortion to force someone to pay, (2) you probably should start taking care of your course if you want people to pay 50+ a round, your course right now is barely worth the 25 i paid, (3) if you want customers that fix ball marks / divots / etc, then maybe step things up a bit. You spent all that money on the clubhouse to waste it with horrible employees and bad conditions. Waste of taxpayer money.

If you want to play a spectacular course that is very challenging and in great condition, this isn't your spot. SO is your average county course meaning it's going to have a slow pace, ball marks on the greens, and unfilled divots. Just know that you're spending 42 bucks on a course and enjoy yourself. It's a fun course to play with holes that allow you to take some risks without really getting punished.
