Beautifly Maintained

A semi private club where the course was in excellent condition. From tee to green in perfect shape.
Greens lush and true. Three tees to choose from. High end sand in the bunkers.
The front nine is fairly undramatic as numerous holes abut a busy expressway. Narrow fairways throughout.
The back nine is a killer step inclines abound and it wears you out even in a cart.
The food a beverage service was almost nonexistent The strangest set up I have ever seen. The club was hosting a private party and I think the staff was depleted. The bar service was poor and getting a hot dog was like pulling teeth. Most items were provided out of a vending machine!
The course is east to get to, I said it was close to an expressway, and a great value. through Golfnow.
Check it out when you are in the area.

A Ffine Up North Experience

The red nine is much easier than the blue. Much more wide open and forgiving.
The Blue features many holes with elevation changes.

Much Improved

We played The Diamond course which used to be the old north.
A somewhat links style course, a few trees, with some blind tee shots and quick greens. Water comes in to play on many holes. Overall in good condition save bunkers. All hard pan.

Small trick greens.

This is a short course with very small and tricky greens. Easy to three putt. The course is all below grade and prone to flooding.

An execuitve course but not for executives.

A short course that could use attention. Parallel holes on over half the course. But for ten bucks a great deal.

A different layout.

An odd routing. No par fives on the front. There are two ninth holes one taking you back to the clubhouse the other takes you over a set of railroad tracks to the back nine(ten). The back side is picturesque, however there are no restrooms or other enmities.

Very Welcoming

Brookwood has become my favorite local course. As a woman, I find I am not always treated well or welcomed at many courses. This used to be the case at Brookwood. However, there appears to have been some staffing changes and I now receive a friendly welcome when I arrive at the course. In addition, the staff seem to be aware that I play very quickly, so I am sometimes ushered onto the back 9 to start, or placed in front of slower starting groups. I very much appreciate this, as it makes it easy to sneak in 9 or even 18 holes when I should be doing something more productive.

The course is well maintained, and is a fair challenge. My only complaint is that sometimes there are drunken jean-clad fivesomes with which to contend.
