Portpatrick

We had time to kill whilst waiting for an evening flight back to the UK. We had called the course who advised that there was no neeed to book a 9 am tee time, but to roll up and play. I am off 13, anf my buddy is off 3. We are both seniors and if we had walked it would have been $16 each, but with a buggy it was $29 each. It was very walkable. The greens were superb. It has a great layout, and the fairways were fine. The pace of play was more than acceptable. As I have said elsewhere, I would happily play this as my home course.

The layout is superb, with not a single weak hole. The course was in great condition with tees, fairways, greens and bunkers well manicured. We had handicaps of 13 and 3 and we played of the blues. We are from the UK and it was the first round of the trip and completely unplanned, and it was a very pleasant surprise. We played en route from Birmingham to Memphis, having flown into Atlanta the previous day . The photographs do not do the course justice. The staff were a delight and most welcoming. Finally, the green fees were just so reasonable, at $29 each with a buggy, reduced to $26 to reflect our ageing years. We shall be back.
