Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club

I’m not gonna lie and tell you it was the best ever but it was in better shape than I remember and a fun layout. First off I had not played here in almost 10 years. My buddy wanted to play last minute and so we gave it a shot. They need new carts and the clubhouse needs an update. That is standard though for a course this age. The layout is challenging, especially if you have never played there. Fairways are tight and you will like find yourself punching out a lot. Course is not super long, so you could play and never have to hit a driver. Greens are in the smaller side but they rolled true. For $45 on an early Sunday morning it is a deal compared to some other courses I’ve played recently. The man rule with most golf is don’t take yourself too seriously and have fun. If you do that you will enjoy your round at the Old Course.
Oyster Reef Golf Course
Played On 05/08/2021Ok but not great.
I had really high hopes for this course based on all the online info. It was not bad but I did not think I lived up to the hype. Greens were nice but slow. If you are a longer hitter play back. Kept hitting through doglegs into trouble. Staff was amazing and my review should be considered no reflection on the pro shop, starter or beverage attendants. They were awesome. The range was nice as well. I will say this course is better than the RTJ Palmetto Dunes course. I paid two-times as much to play there and the course was not nearly as nice. I would play this course again though because knowing the layout would help. Especially if you play inside of 6500 yards. Again, the staff there is top notch. Hopefully I’m not being too harsh but I travel a lot and play a lot of courses.
Irving Golf Club
Played On 12/06/2020Just keeps getting better!
This is one of my new favorite courses in the DFW area. The price is excellent and the course conditions just get better every time I play. The range and putting green are nice and other than maybe a tee box here or there it is always in great shape. Staff is always friendly and rarely does it take me more that four-four and a half hours to play.
Thorntree Country Club
Played On 12/01/2018Great Track
So this course just became semi-private. It popped up on GolfNow, so I decided to go play. Awesome decision. Staff was great, especially Robin the beverage attendant. I was a single so they paired me up with another guy who had never played it. Course is challenging and fun. Greens were perfect and I I can’t wait to go back.
Cinnabar Hills Golf Club - Lake/Canyon
Played On 03/05/2018Fun near San Jose
I really liked the courses I played at Cinnabar Hills. I got to play the Mountain and Lakes nines. Range was a bit outdated and no beverage cart all day. If I were new to the game of golf this course would be difficult. The course seems to be built to match the terrain, but a little too much up and down for me. I would play here again though, and recommend it to others in the single digit handicap range. The rental set I got were all titleist, so that was a bonus.
Plantation Resort Golf Club
Played On 04/19/2015Now I remember why I don't play there anymore.
It had been some time since I had been out to Plantation, maybe a year or more. Our tee time was not till 2:38, but they had no carts. We did not get carts until right at our tee time. The practice green only had three flags on it, with no actual cups for putting. The course was soaked from rain the night before, and you can tell they have some serious drainage issues. I went into the bar, and the only good thing was the girl behind the counter. Very friendly and attractive. No bottles of soda, only cans. Really??? And $2.00 per can??? I should have just went to 7-11 down the street. The greens were terrible and so slow. It was like they forgot to mow them. Carts were gas powered, and I hate the engine noise from gas. There were three other groups waiting on carts like our group was. Just seems like this place needs to close down and complete a renovation. The nets to protect peoples' houses on the course were old and tattered, and just looked trashy. There was a new guy in our group that just moved to Texas and he said he hopes the other course around are not like Plantation. The one good thing was that the group in front of us let us pass them at the turn. We play fast, and they helped us keep up the pace. The beverage cart on the course was about as sad as the clubhouse, and we only saw the beverage cart three times over 18 holes. I don't think I will be going back anytime soon. I would rather pay $5-$10 more and get a better course with better amenities.
Tour 18 Dallas
Played On 03/21/2015Another Round at Tour 18 Dallas
First off I want to say that I have played this course many times. For a period the course conditions and overall course shape suffered, but the last few times it seems to be getting better. One of my biggest pet peeves about this course is how much it cost to play. It takes me an hour in traffic to get there and normally cost $75+. This normally keeps me away, but when I saw it for $39 on Golf Now, I decided to go back. It has been very wet here in the DFW area for the last month, but the course was in good shape. The greens were very nice, but the fairways look like they need to install some better drainage systems. When I got there almost all of the balls were gone off the range, and I had to ask one of the three carts guys to get more. There were other players just standing on the range waiting for someone to acknowledge there were no range balls. It took about 10 minutes to get some, when I thought was strange given there were three cart guys and not very many players on the course. The highlight/highlights of the day were the starter letting me and my buddy go off early to beat a large group we would have been stuck behind and then two other large groups let us play through later in the round. We played 18 holes in three hours and 15 minutes. I will say that both me and my buddy are low handicaps, and had it not been cart path only we would have played faster. I also shot my best round ever out there, 74. If I had to change things out there I would decrease the pro-shop staff. There always seems to be four-five guys just standing around in the pro-shop behind the counter. Why do they need so many people? I would also have a marshal out on the course to keep up the pace of play. Also, they need to give some attentions to the fairway on the par five sixth hole. The middle of the fairway is just dirt and sand. Maybe they need to re-sod this area. These are just my opinions, and none of what I listed above will keep me from going back if the price is right.
Wow, we are so happy you enjoyed your round, Jholm2475! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
