2nd time a charm !

This was the second time I played the Dunes course. Being a Pete Dye design it's got a lot of sand, high grass and trouble. Not to mention the undulating greens. First time I played I wasn't prepared for that and had a horrible round and swore I would not play again. But with the great summer rate I couldn't resist.
This time I knew what I was in for a played accordingly and had a great time. This is a thinking golfers course You can't always get on in regulation and don't try or you will get the wrath of Mr Dye. Lot of elevated greens means an extra club and a not well played approach will cost you. So on in 3 and a 1 or 2 putt is the way to go.
Greens and fairways were in very good shape. Only comment would be that some tee boxes were crowned making finding a flat area to tee was difficult. I think that's maintenance and not Pete.
I'm now going to play this course more often.

This course needs some TLC

Played the West/South compo. The West first 3 holes are in a ravine which was flooded in March and hasn't recovered. They should take those holes out of play. The rest of the holes run through a very tight out dated housing complex. Lots of browned out areas and hard pan however the greens were in ok shape but slow. Very little sand in traps and some not raked. The South is a little better but same browned out and trap/bunker condition. Don't think I'll go back anytime soon but if I do will not play the West again.
Don't know why it has all 4 and 5 star reviews except for pace of play.

A must play great course

This course is in great shape any time of the year. Greens are challenging but don't break quite as much as they look. Tees and fairways are well kept. Staff is great and very friendly. The course can get a little backed up on weekends but the marshals keep it moving.
You can pick any challenge you want. The tips are waaay back but the white and gold set up for us average guys and the lady's have two tees as well.
If you live in the Valley or just visiting you must play this course. It's a little ride from Palm Springs but worth it.

One of my favorite courses

We played this course last year just before over seeding and of course was a little ruff. But this year in season was great! Can be very challenging particularly the par 4s. Some over 400 yards means two good shots to the green. Generous fairways so the homes rarely come into play. Course is in great condition and the staff treat you like a member.
Also love the architecture of the homes surrounding the course and the history of the club. You can just imagine Frank Sinatra teeing off and Gretta Garbo sunning on a patio.

Don't let 6,100 yards fool you

Played this course last year and was not impressed. It was too early in the season. But this year it was great. Only course that's not cart path only right now. Everything is well grown in and manicured. Greens just a tad slow but grown in and they said they are starting to shave them down. Some may think the course is funky with 70 and 90 yard par 3's, 4 par 4's over 450 and 2 short par 5's totaling 6,100 par 70 but I think it very challenging when you have to lay up on some par 4's but you can blast it on par 5's for a birdy.
All in all a great course. Very friendly staff and enjoyable. You've got to put it on your list.

Very enjoyable plus lunch included!

Very nice course and staff. The course is spread out so some holes are far apart and could be confusing getting between some. We played with a resident which was very helpful. Though in a housing complex the homes really dont come into play very much. Good variety of tees that can challange any handycap. Will definitely play again
PS: The lunch was great and included in the greens fee!!!!

Best short game course in the Valley

Love this place. Play from the whites hone your 6,7 and 8 irons. Play from the blues you get to work out your hybrids, 4 and 5. Lots of green side challenges from both and very good putting greens.
Bring water and a snack. No service on the course. Great deal at $23 per including cart.
I'm going to play this course at least 2x a month

Very good course. A lot of fun. A little short from the Silver tees. Was on in 2 on par 5

Very nice course and a lot of fun. A little strange that they let carts everywhere but then again it's a resort course. Greens are very good but tricky and fall off if not well placed
Very nice staff. Very good rate. Would play again.
Could use a Ranger to move play along.

Great course

Great course. I would have given it 5 stars except for the greens. They are very undulating, lightening fast and many of the pin placements were unfair. However it was my first time playing the course and didn't expect those type of greens. I think playing it a few times I'll figure out how to approach the greens better. Lots is sand!!! Doesn't bother me but my wife wasn't very happy. But then again just don't get in it.

Very nice course Great value

Very nice course. Played from the silver tees which I found to be a little short. It's a Pete Dye course but not as unforgiving as a lot of his designs Was a little slow and didn't see a ranger at all to speed play but its a resort course and you can't expect everyone plays fast.
