About
In the past year I have taken my golf game to the next level and back to the depths of hacker. Broke par for 18 for the first time ever and shot 96 in a tournament. Played in 25 tournaments this year and won once. Cashed in probably 60% of them. Battled the shanks and quit the game and sold everything only to purchase all new equipment again.

Elks Country Club
Played On 04/04/2015Challenging short course, very well maintained
It's only 6700 from the tips but it has lots of bite. The par 3's are lengthy and some of the 4's are long. Greens were a little slow and if you putted on the practice green and expected the same on the course you were fooled. Much slower on the course than the practice green. Had 3 inches of rain the day before but drained very well. I love the layout, but you will run into the occasional 5 some. A must play course and the pro Nathan is a good guy.

Decided to take a little road trip and take advantage of the Hot Deal rate, about $16.00. One reason was the offering of heated carts, they had covers available but no propane for the heaters but it wasn't a big deal to me. Had about a hour frost delay and the greens took about another hour before you could fire at the pins due to how hard the greens were. Course was not as tough as I had anticipated, I shot 74 from the blue tees but U struck the ball well all day and avoided trouble. If you are wild with the driver this course could give you some big numbers due to the quantity of O.B. markers. Course is in a nice gated community, didn't have much available food and beverage wise that day. I really enjoyed playing it though, our threesome played 27 holes in about 4 hours and 45 minutes.
Oaks Golf Club
Played On 11/23/2014Great layout that is getting better, won't be long
I have played here several times but had not been there this year. The greens are starting to get better and the layout is great. Lots of elevated tees and fairways were relatively good. I personally talked with the owner about the course and I believe if we have a mild winter and good spring this place will again be a good course. Improvements on the driving range and hopefully the practice green will be completed and it will be a full service course again.

A couple of the guys in my foursome had played here before and spoke highly of this course. We decided to take advantage of the nice weather and the last Sunday before the time change. The drive from the Ashland, Ky area is about 2 and a half hours and not until you top the hill to the course do you realize that there is a beautiful golf course anywhere near you. Isolated? most definitely. Worth the drive? Oh yeah! We played the course from the tips and it plays long, but fair. Greens were pretty slick but you had a tendency to read more break than what was there. Make sure and bring your camera because the view are stunning, especially with the fall colors. Played 36 holes on the hot deal for about $40 a person. The driving range is excellent and the putting green was very nice. The short flag poles are different, and the bunkers played nice. Had a outstanding time and can't wait to return next year.
Esquire Golf Course

Course was very wet due to the extensive amount of rain we have received over the past few days but the fairways were in good shape. The greens were slow but a lot of that was due to the rain. We played it from the tips and it can play long, especially when wet. Loads of deer on the course. Mostly flat and most greens were pretty flat. Since we were the only people on the course it was great. Played 27 holes in 4 hours. Can't wait to play again, staff was super nice.
