Bethesda Grange Golf Course
Played On 09/02/2017Good, fun experience
I grew up playing most Clublink courses around Ontario (Glen Cairn, Caledon Woods, Bondhead, King's Riding), but have been coming to Rolling Hills the past couple years due to my girlfriend picking up the sport. We spent all our time playing the Classic and Challenge course, as they were relatively cheap.
I saw the 4-player promotion for the Labour Day weekend, and decided that I wanted to play a nicer course with the "wife". For the price, I have to say I was quite satisfied. I was a bit weary of this promotion, as some clubs tend to over-book. However, even though the course was fully booked, the marshalls kept the pace of play up quite well. Our round of 4 players (2 relatively new), our round went almost exactly 4.5 hours. We were forced to wait to tee off only a couple times, but never for too long. Excellent job on the pace.
Course conditions were quite good. Little dry patches on the rough and fairway, but overall, in good conditions. I did notice that some of the tee-blocks were quite dry. It took a lot to get some of my tees in the ground! The greens were great. They were rolled the morning we played, and they played fast and true. Was challenging compared to the Classic and Challenge course.
The staff were relatively friendly. I find it's always a hit-and-miss at any course. Pro-shop staff seemed bored, waiter's slow even though there were only a few seats taken. Marshalls were good overall. I find the variety is apparent here. Sometimes, we get the most charismatic, kind marshalls. Other times, we get the most senile, grumpy marshalls known to man. Didn't affect any of my golf game, so this point is sort of null.
Overall had a good experience at the course and would come again.
