Grassy Creek Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/20/2022Staff doesn’t care for Golf Now. golfers
Course layout was kitschy and good use of the property available. Greens were in decent shape, but too many don’t care to fix ball marks. Played as a single and staff didn’t seem too happy about it. “we don’t allow singles on the weekend but Golf Now does”. Seemed as though the members in front of me were purposely slowing down throughout the round as the chatter after putting increased on the green and they fell 2 holes behind. One of the group apologized after and said he tried to let me play through but the others didn’t want to. Ranger would have been nice, but as others commented - good old boy CC wasn’t going to press them to speed up. Fairways were more weed than grass and bunkers were laughable.

Course improved since I last played several months ago. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Played On 07/02/2022New bunkers?
18 new bunkers added… all with the pin in the middle of them. Sanding the greens is a necessary evil in course management, however not the way Twin Oaks has done it.Putting was simply not possible due to the volume of sand just dumped on the greens. Course also didn’t mention upon check-in and actually charged more than listed on GolfNow…. said it was something to do with a system issue. Never expect Twin Jokes to be a nice place based on greens fees (usually a good place to get a solid driver/wedge round in) but this round was unplayable.
Jekyll Island Golf Club - Indian Mound Course
Played On 04/22/2022Wow was that disappointing.
Other reviews talked about how much progress the course had made. Must have been a goat pasture once upon a time because it was only missing the four legged friends. From tee to green as much weeds and bare spots as grass. The bunkers were filled with shell fragments. May be quaint to use the sand directly from the local beaches, but sifting it first would save the scratches from the clubs. Clubhouse guys were straight forward but could have used some Southern charm. Starter seemed worried about getting folks out fast and it showed as we waited 3 pairings deep on most holes and at least 2 on every hole. Never saw a ranger once. Beverage cart came by once. Grueling 5 hour round, that didn’t have to be that way. The difficulty of the course should allow for an easy 3 1/2 to 4 hour pace. Usually don’t mind waiting for golf, but this course wasn’t worth it.

Played On 06/05/2021Such a beautiful track... going in the wrong direction.
Not much to the clubhouse, there is no practice range to speak of, and sometimes you have to wait for a cart. No starter or ranger to keep pace of play on track. The people are really friendly! It was a good bargain when you could find it for a “Hot Deal” but harder to find those and it’s not in the condition to fetch their rack rate. It is a shame because the layout is pretty cool with piedmont, lowlands and mountain holes all in the same course. However, the conditions seem to get worse each time we return. Sorry to see it happening.

From tee to green there is very little difference between the weeds that are passed off as playable turf except a minor change in mower height. The greens go from slow to slower without any consistency. Unfortunate the the course was in such bad shape as it does have a challenging layout and shot making is necessary despite the short length. The lack of Covid-19 protocols was disturbing- no masks in clubhouse, rakes in bunkers, water jugs in use, and nothing for the holes. Even saw plenty of players removing the flags as the would have pre-pandemic.

Hearing great things about tifeagle greens I was excited to play even after other reviews mentioned the rough fairways. I have played on recently plugged greens before but these were atrocious. It was like putting on pebbles. Sand was heavy on some spots and completely missing in others. Had to play the front 9 twice as I assume they were bludgeoning the back 9. Would have been nice to know this was going on when I booked the time. Tried to make the best of it since I was with my 11 year old son... golf is hard enough and it is not very enjoyable under those conditions. Staff was nice enough but they tried to play it off with “every course is going through this now”. I’m sure most are in the area but i’ve played many that handle it much better.
